5. Chapter 4: Solved

As I opened the door, the cold air hit my cheeks causing me to shiver.
Slowly, I walked past the playground when I suddenly noticed something
on the bench. I looked up and my eyes widened. I walked over to it
and immediatelygrabbed it. It was my rubik's cube, and the thing was; it
was solved.

"Wow." I whispered and turned it around in my hands. I felt a smile
growing on my face as I saw there was not even one mistake. Never had I
ever solved it, never. With the rubik's cube in my hands, I walked to
school while still admiring it. That boy didn't even knew what it was
and he could already get it solved in only a few hours. When I reached
the schoolgates, the bell ran signalling I was going to be late. I
rushed into the building and didn't even noticed the candles surrounding
a big poster of Mr. Frekler.

I didn't knew why, but for some reason, my day had started good and that
was something that hadn't happened in a long time.

After I was done with my homework, I looked out of the window and saw
the boy with the curls already sitting on the bench. Without thinking, I
grabbed the rubik's cube, put on my coat and scarf and ran outside my
apartment. When I finally got outside and closed the door of the flat
building, I stopped in dead in my tracks and looked at the boy. He
slowly looked up from his lap and although he was a few meters away, I
could see him smiling a small smile. That was the first time I saw him
smiling and honestly, it looked good on him. I smiled back before
picking up my feet again and slowly walking towards him. I noticed his
eyebrows weren't frowned, like they were before and it made his facial
expression friendlier. When I reached the bench, I slowly sat down on it
and reached the rubik's cube to him and he looked at it.

"How did you do that?" I asked. He stopped gazing at the object in my
hands and looked me right in the eyes for a few seconds before looking
back down again.

"I guess, I just twisted it." He explained. I smiled as I looked at
the rubik's cube. I put it down on the other side next to me and when an
awkward silence fell, I looked down at my lap and played with my fingers.

"Do I smell better now?" The boy suddenly asked with his husky voice and
for some reason, I felt a shiver going down my spine. I inhaled not
noticeable the scent of him and this time, he didn't smell weird. This
time, he smelt really good to my liking. I nodded, still looking down at
my lap and it remained silent.

"What's your name?" I asked and turned my head to look at him. When my
eyes met his, I saw he was already looking at me, but he quickly looked
down.

"Harry, what's yours?"

"August." I answered and stretched my hand towards him so he could shake
it. I saw him looking at it and he slowly and hesitantly reached his
hand towards mine. I wondered why he was hesitating. As soon as his big
hand slid next to mine, I noticed how cold it was.

"Harry you're cold!" I said a bit in shock, and he immediately pulled
his hand away.

"I don't get cold." Harry answered in the same way as he had done yesterday.

"But your hand is freezing." I explained and looked at him with my lips
slightly parted and my eyes wider than they normal were.

"I said I don't get cold." He replied with a bit of anger in his voice
and looked up at me with again, his eyebrows frowned. I quickly looked
away and looked down at my lap.

"I'm sorry." He quietly said.

"How old are you?" I asked, ignoring his apologize.

It stayed quiet for a moment so I looked at him to see him in deep
thoughts. "Twenty," He finally, but uncertainly answered, "more or
less." He added, muttering.

"What do you mean?" I asked quietly and looked down at my lap again as I
fiddled with my thumbs. "When is your birthday?"

"I don't know." He quietly answered and I saw and felt him shuffling a bit.

"You don't know?" I asked astonished. "Don't you celebrate it?"

"No." He simply answered and shrugged his shoulders. "Anyway, how old
are you?" He asked, changing the subject.

"I'm sixteen." I answered, still thinking about why he didn't know his
birthday. We both stayed quiet again, both deep in thoughts. Suddenly, I
felt a pressure on my chest and for a moment it felt like I couldn't
breathe. It was the same feeling I had yesterday when I thought there
was someone staring. I looked over at Harry and his eyes met mine. I
created a small smile on my face as I tucked a lock of my blond wavy
hair behind my ear.

"I need to go. I'll speak to you later. Bye August.", He said without
smiling back as stood up and started to walk away.

"Bye Harry." I quietly said as I put my feet on the bench and hugged my
knees.
