Shady Creek Lane

"Hey, where is Logan?"

"It's three at night!"

"Why do you always keep helping me?"

"I know I've never been there for you when you needed me."

"Promise me there won't be another fight."

"I love you..."

8. First Date In Handersonville

(Alex' POV)

I was in my room staring at the post-it in my hand, thinking about the craziness I had last night. I thought about going to Leslie's and talk with her but again I had moved to the other side of the country leaving my best friend back as everything else.

Truth slapped me. I had no friends around here. I only had met two guys last night and they were the obly people I knew here. I didn't even know where the closest shoppin mall was, which didn't seem so close.

Actually if I gained some friends maybe I would start to like this place. No Alex, you hate this place. It didn't matter if I liked Handersonville or not. I had to live here. At least until I was 18 but that was what I was afraid of. What if everybody forgot me until then? Leslie? She would become close with Serena. Daniel? Duh, he would happily be with Miranda. Lea? She's already too busy with her collage plans. I then realised that nobody in Bellevue would miss me like I miss them. I had nobody here. So did I there. I was nobody no matter where I am.

I heared a knock on te door and felt a tear trail down my cheek. I quickly wiped it and shouted "Come in!" Mom opened the door and took a look inside. "Yes mom?" I asked as casually as possible.

"Umm, I know that you didn't really like it here, but... I bought tickets for A Wish On A Star, that movie you wanted to see. And I-"

"Really!? Oh god, mom I love you so much! I love you! I love you! I can't believe!" I hugged her.

She hugged me as well and continued. "There's more. The movie is tonight and I thought that We could go to the mall early and buy new clothes for you. And you could make new friends maybe."

"Yes mom. You're the best mom ever!"

"But there's one more thing." She looked tense.

"And that is..?" I beamed. Nothing could bother me right now.

"I bought a ticket for Christian too."

Except that. "What!? No! You heared me? Just... no!"

"Look, honey, he wouldn't-"

"I don't want that kid in our cinema day! Even if that means there's no cinema day."

"Alexis, listen to me. Dad will be in his first day of work today. Cassidy is old enough to stay at home alone for a few hours and you know that she shouldn't stay in a cinema for three hours beause of her pannick attack. But I can't leave my eight years old with my little daughter that's only thirteen. Understand me?" She wasn't yelling but wasn't so calm either. You could feel the fierce in her voice almost letting out.

But I was so stubborn as always. "No I-" The home phone rang. "I will get it!" Chris shouted. Mom took advance of my pause. "Like it or not you're coming." There was a knock on the door. "Alex" It was Chris' voice coming right behind the door of my room. It wasn't the time. "Not now Chris!" I yelled. "But Alex the boy on the phone wants you."

Me? Who can it possibly be? I first thought of Drew but he didn't know the number. And Jay gave me his number to call but I'm sure I never gave him mine. "A-alright." I said and opened the door taking the phone and shut it without letting my little brother in. I didn't like making phone calls in front of people but I neither had the time or the guts to tell mom to get out.

I brought the phone to my ear. "H-hello?"

"Hey," It was a soft boy's voice on the other end of the line.

"Who am I talking with?" I asked casually.

"I'm Jay, remember?" he said. For a moment I thought he sounded a little hurt.

"Oh, yeah, right. How are you? I don't remember giving you my number." I stated trying my best to sound curious not rude.

"You know, I used to live there." He said and chuckled.

I blushed. I was surprised to my own idiosity. "Oh, right. I forgot. I'm sorry."

He chuckled. "Don't be sorry for such a thing. Nevermind, I called to ask if you would like to do something with me today. Going out together, I mean."

I couldn't help but smile to myself. "No, I'm sorry, actually I-" Then a thought flashed in my mind. "I mean, sure, that would be great!"

"Really?" He sighed. "I was so afraid that you'd say no!"

I giggled. "No, making friends would be really good."

"Looking forward to see you then." he said happily.

"See you." I said and hung up.

Mom was looking at me weirdly. "Who was that?" she asked and put her hands on her hips.

I was unsure to tell. I decided to tell her that he knocked te door last night and told me he was the housemate of the former owner of the house.

When I finished explaining mom stayed like that for a while which frightened me but then she opened her arms for a big hug and beamed "Aww, my daughter already made a friend!" I hugged her too then we pulled out.

"Actually, mom, he wanted to do something together later today."

She looked a little upset. "Umm, alright. Maybe I may leave the youth alone and stay at home with your sister and brother." She said.

"No, never! Actually I was gonna say, I met the boy that's our neighbor too and he said he had video games, so maybe if he's not busy Chris can stay with him while we're at the mall." I had explained my genius plan. Now it was only my mom to accept it. Talking about Drew reminded me of last night. He had kissed me. The thought of that made me blush.

"I don't know," mom said unsure. "Maybe you can call him and ask if he's busy."

Just then I realised that I didn't have Drew's number. "Actually, he had promised Chris to show him the games and he was talking about today, so I think we don't need to call. We can just leave him while passing by."

"Alright!" mom said cheerfully."Yayyyyy!" Chris exclaimed from the other side of the door. I could hear him screaming and jumping around. Was he even still there?

Then again truth slapped me so hard right across the face. "I have nothing to wear!" I shrieked.

"Oh you're right. Come on just pull something on and we will buy something for you!" Mom said. She seemed at least as nervous and excited as me. I loved mom a lot.
