Shady Creek Lane

"Hey, where is Logan?"

"It's three at night!"

"Why do you always keep helping me?"

"I know I've never been there for you when you needed me."

"Promise me there won't be another fight."

"I love you..."

4. Bathroom?

I got a few pebbles from the ground and threw one on his window. I waited for a few minutes. Nothing happened. I threw a few more. After about ten minutes a light turned on in the room and then the window opened. It was a girl. "Hey! What are you doing here?"

(Drew's POV)

I could easily say that that "Hey" was more protective than friendly or welcoming. She might be one of Logan's girls. The light was coming from behind her so I couldn't see her so clearly.

"Hey!" I shouted back as friendly as I could. "Where is Logan?"

She paused for a second. "Who are you?" She had a real nice voice.

"It's Drew. If he's busy I can come later." I didn't want to mess with his girl. He'd kill me.

"I think you're in the wrong house. I don't remember anybody named Logan." I tried to figure out if she was lying. She seemed at least as puzzled as I was.

"No way! This is the only house around here except mine but it's a few hundered metres from here." I might have sounder a little more harsh than I'd expected.

She thought for a moment. "Look, we just bought the house. Maybe Logan sold it to us and went away. Is that possible?" She was so damn kind.

"Yeah makes sense..." I said. I couldn't understand why he'd left without telling anything but that seemed like the only explanation. Perfect. I thought. There's nowhere left I can go.

"Anyway, what are you here for at 3 am?" She sounded more of curious than angry.

What was I going to tell? I'm a total asshole, I fight a lot and injure myself, nobody cares about me so do I and Logan was the only idiot that helped me? Yeah that's obviously not the best thing to tell someone I just met. "I, umm... I usually used to come here after... fights. He'd help me." I confessed.

She looked seriously concerned now. "This means you had a fight?" I nodded. I felt guilty. "Are you alright?" she asked.

I didn't want to scare her. "Actually, I have a few minor injuries. Not so important."

She still looked unsure. "You sure you don't need help?"

Just when I was about to say I was okay I felt a hot liquid run down my neck. Blood was slowly streaming down my left cheek but the bleeding was almost stopped now. "A little help would do good." I gave up. I walked to the maple tree and started to climb.

"Hey you must be tired if you just had a fight. I can sneak you in from the front door. Everybody's asleep." She thoughtfully suggested.

"Of course you can, if you want blood all over your furniture." After that she didn't say anything else.

(Alex's POV)

Blood? Oh my god, what's this now? Yes, he did seem desperate for help even if he never admitted but seriously, blood? What kind of trouble had this guy got himself into? I didn't know if it was a good idea to help him. After all, he could easily be lying. Maybe he was a thief or something and he was just running away from the police. Not impossible. Come on Alex, don't be so paranoid. I reassured myself. He needs your help.

While I was busy thinking of all that he easily climbed the tree and came to the level of the window. I reached to his hand and helped him in. He looked directly in my eyes surprised when I first touched his hand. I acted as if it wasn't anything. And it really wasn't, was it? I pulled him in with all my strenght, carefully not to wake my parents or siblings. I finally succeeded pulling him in but he fell on me and I fell on the ground with a big noise.

I quickly got on my feet and helped him up. I looked around and listened carefully to see or hear if somebody was awake. I heared nothing. And just then when I focused my eyes on the boy I backed up and covered my mouth with my both hands. He had dirty blonde hair and greenish hazel eyes. He was wearing black jeans and a white shirt. Well, that doesn't seem so extraordinary. What scared me was that his hair was a real mess and his left eye was bruised. He was wet from head to toe because of waiting outside under the rain. A few of the top buttons of his shirt were either opened or missing and it was partly covered in mud. His jeans were partly torn and worst of all there was a line of blood streaming down his left cheek to the collar of his white shirt and down his chest.

I studied him for a while and then whispered "W-what happened?" He looked down but before that I could catch a sight of his hazel eyes. They had turned red. I wasn't sure if I should ask but I decided to do so. "Have you been... crying?" He looked up in my eyes but stayed silent. I decided not to get into his personal subjects. "I'll be right back." I said and went downstairs and searched for the kitchen. I got a bag of frozen vegetables from the fridge. I ran upstairs to my room and threw it at him. "Put that on your bruised eye." I went out again to the bathroom to get a bottle of oxygen water and some cotton balls.

I went to the room to find him sitting on my bed. I sat next to him and put some of the liquid on a cotton ball. "This might hurt a bit." I warned and pressed it softly on the cut on his cheek. He moaned and bit his bottom lip. I tried my best to do it as softly as I could. He shut his eyes tight. "Ugh, it hurts." I put the cotton down. It was enough. "That cut, it's really deep." I said and looked at him to see if he was going to tell what had happened. He didn't say anything for a while. Then he silently talked "Thank you."

He stood up and tried to walk but immediately fell back on the bed groaning in pain. He was holding his right thigh. I slowly hold his hand and put it away. There was blood pouring from a cut on his jeans. He looked unsure. Okay, I could help him and all but I was not going to strip a total stranger just to help. He wasn't expecting me to do it as well. I could see it in his eyes. Then I had an idea. I quickly hold the jeans around the cut and tore it a little, giving me enough space to stop the bleeding. He watched me for a while. "You want to know what happened?" he asked. I nodded quietly. He told me the whole story while I worked on his leg. "Is that why you cried?" I asked. "Look, if she really did something like that, she's not worth it." I knew it didn't help. He really loved her, but I just tried to comfort him.

He looked away for a few seconds and then looked right in my eyes. "What's your name?" I answered it really quick. "Angel." It was my second name that I never used. I don't know why I said that. It was just a reflex I guess. I looked down feeling really guilty because of lying. I was good at it but I didn't want to do it.

He hold my chin with his left hand and lifted my head up so that I was facing him. "Nice name. It fits you." He said and leaned in closing his eyes. My heart was going crazy. But I had a boyfriend back in Washington. Should I do this because I know my boyfriend will forget me? I really wanted it. I decided not to ruin the moment. His lips touched mine softly and gently.

Just then the door of my bedroom busted open. "Whoa, this clearly isn't the bathroom."
