11. Hunted

I wake up to see Fuoco and Sirena in the corner, Fuoco blushing furiously and Sirena hissing at him as if trying not to wake me. I catch a few words in my half-asleep state before they notice I'm awake. "...younger sister...not safe...midnight...flirt...kiss!" She said that last word too loud and I bolted upright.

"Sorry, we didn't mean to wake you." Sirena said, trying obviously to calm down. She shot a glare at Fuoco and he took that as a cue to leave.

"Where are we?"

"In my house, in the spare bedroom. The one Fuoco escaped from to see you."

"I thought you knew?"

"No, it was a full moon, we wouldn't have let him... Although, his gift was really sweet to be honest." I laughed and realised my clothes from him were gone, leaving me with only a duvet for cover.

"So, what was that telling off about?"

"You heard," I nodded and she told me. "I was mad at him because I'm supposed to look after you, especially from boys. He made the mistake of trying to tell me how amazing last night was and how you kissed him on the cheek! He's a big enough flirt as it is without you encouraging him." She made a mock serious face. "Anyway, when we found you at last, your energy had been drained by a witch hunter's charm in the tree but we got to you both in time and put your power back in you." She stopped and looked at me with wet eyes. "Quercia, when witches are hunted, the hunters usually win. They could have killed you."
