Dead End

KC Circuit isn't a race track. She's a normal teenage girl who takes a fancy to training sports or self defense, or painting with metallics.

Her life is really put to the test when everything changes. The once crowded streets of her hometown, Silverville, are teeming with parasites so vicious, it can change the way of humanity. And not in the way that people the way that people die, and come crawling back to life.
Zombies. And they're out to get her.

Dedicated to my best friend Ellie Ruddlesdin :)

7. Where To Now

'This streets empty. I've been down it three times. Nothing. They must have been scared off by something.'

KC looked Ellie up and down, then glanced over at Katie. She was twisting a bat around, looking at it as if it were the most interesting thing. A few moments later, she looked up, and locked eyes with KC.

'I suppose, if it's empty. I wonder what they are so scared of.'

KC had the urge to roll her eyes because that was pretty much what Ellie had just said, but she ignored it. This wasn't the time to be getting angry at one another. Especially since this was a do or die situation. Literally.

Ellie began to walk slowly, then KC followed after. Katie was last. Somehow, in the process of killing a Zombie and running for it, Katie had found a baseball bat. KC wasn't sure whether she had time to ask questions. But she asked it anyway.

'Where did you get the...bat?'

Katie shrugged, and rolled it in her hands. Then she brought it down to her side, looked up, and whispered loudly at Ellie to stop where she was. Ellie turned back, then held her hands out as if to ask why.

'I know why the Zombie's aren't down here.'

Katie nodded towards an abandoned house. Both KC and Ellie looked up at it, and frowned. It was as if they were sisters.

'There's someone in there. Who ever it is, they are doing something to send the Zombies away. Or kill them flat out.'

KC raised her eyebrows, and took a quick peek at the window of the tall, towering house. It was pretty much deserted on the street, and that house was the only one with a bit of life in it. The roof was broken somewhere around the top, but apart from that, the house was in tact. No broken windows. No splintered door. No bricks fallen out of place. It was the most ordinary house KC had seen all morning. She thought Ellie and Katie must be thinking the same, as they were both gazing at it dreamily. Ellie more then Katie. Katie looked a little...fierce.

'Maybe we should head over there...?' Ellie suggested quietly. Katie nodded, but KC wasn't too sure.

'They might think were infected. If they somehow can kill Zombies or send them away, whatever they are using, they could use on us.'

'What do you suggest then, KC? This is the only street that isn't crawling with infection, parasites and Zombies. Where do you want to go?'

Katie looked at KC directly, focusing calmly on her pupils. She batted the bat once in her hand, then spoke, still keeping the clear contact.

'I suggest we leave this street before something bad happens. And trust me, it will. At sometime, the Zombie's will come back here.'

Ellie, slowly, cut in, drawing away the eye contact between KC and Katie.

'I suggest we head towards the edge of town. There should at least be transport there. If they haven't taken it all already.'

Katie nodded quickly.

'Yes. Good idea. I just hope we don't get killed before we can escape.'

Great, KC thought. All this positivity is making me giddy. Not.
