Dead End

KC Circuit isn't a race track. She's a normal teenage girl who takes a fancy to training sports or self defense, or painting with metallics.

Her life is really put to the test when everything changes. The once crowded streets of her hometown, Silverville, are teeming with parasites so vicious, it can change the way of humanity. And not in the way that people the way that people die, and come crawling back to life.
Zombies. And they're out to get her.

5. Dawn and Death

KC woke, startled. She looked around her, and noticed Katie sleeping soundly beside her. What were they doing in the attic? And why were they sleeping on Katie's suitcase?

KC accidently kicked Katie as she tried to move. Katie stirred from her sleep, and looked around.

Katie pulled herself up, and slid across the floor to the grandfather clock. She shoved it out of the way violently, and KC was there in time to stop it from tipping over completely. Through the gap daylight shone bright. Katie blinked rapidly, then gasped. KC couldn't help letting slip of one either. The street was...dark. Gloomy. Ruined. Bins had been over turned, rubbish scattering lawns and the road itself. A few lost figures looked dull and bleary, as if they had no idea what they were doing. Not only was it their facial expressions, but it was their clothes, and their...bodies. They were all terribly dressed, covered in blood. Dripping from their mouths, or arms, or legs.

'Do you think any got in the house last night?'

KC's eyes widened.

'They break in? To houses?'

Katie nodded.

'They're Zombies. They eat brains, and all your worried about is them breaking in?'

Just as the words left Katie's mouth, something smashed downstairs. KC got up so quick Katie didn't see her. She fumbled, once again, through her pocket, produced a key, then stuck it in the door. She locked it. She was so glad that the noise of clicking sounded.

'No, no way, KC. Were going down stairs.'

KC turned to Katie. She wasn't quite sure what to say to her. She'd been so scared, and now she was telling KC to go down the stairs. Where the ZOMBIES were!

'Trust me. I know self defense. When he is gone, or she is gone, were getting the hell out of this place. I'm telling you that now.'

Katie wiggled her fingers, as if ordering KC to give her the key. KC handed it over reluctantly, and Katie unlocked the door. Slowly, she got out. KC followed behind her. They both shut the door. Together. KC could feel Katie shaking, shivering, her teeth chattering. She wasn't sure what to do, but they were out now. They had to do something.

It was loud and fast, Katie charging down the stairs, KC in hot pursuit. A Zombie, obviously startled, jumped, then growled and groaned in protest. Blood dripped from his rotten teeth, and he lunged towards Katie. She, with a loud noise, kicked her foot out, and it slammed into his jaw. He stumbled backwards, and fell into the wall. KC raced into the kitchen, pulled open a draw, and found a knife. She was back in time, and shoved the knife through the Zombie's head. She knew it was violent, but the Zombie screamed and fell to the floor. KC pulled it back out, gripping the handle tight, then stuck it through his heart. It died, right there, in KC's hallway.
