Maybe It Was Fate

Sydney and Noah were engagaed. Everything was perfect, until a car accident, that changed her life completely. One day, while walking the streets of London, Sydney ran into Harry. Will he be able to let Sydney fall in love again?

1. Prologue

We were in the car. Noah was bringing me home. He had just proposed, and we couldn't be happier. We were going to spend the rest of our lives together. We were stopped at a light. It was after two, and there was no one on the road. We sat the green light, enjoying each other's company.
    "I love you, Sydney."
    "I love you too, Noah."
He leaned over and kissed me passionately. The kiss started becoming more intense. He unbuckled his seatbelt, and came closer. There was a light behind us, before we could break the kiss, they hit us. There were bits of being taken to the hospital that I remember, but not much.
I slowly opened my eyes. The light was way too bright in the room. I adjusted, and saw my mum, and Megan in the hospital room.
Megan and I have been best friends since birth. We are next door neighbors, and were born a week apart. She's the older one.
I heard a sigh of relief as my eyes opened completely.
"Where's Noah?!" Was the first thing that came out of my mouth.
"Sydney! I'm so happy you're awake! How are you?" My mum asked.
"Where's. Noah." I repeated. They looked at each other. Not knowing what to say. Just then the nurse came in.
"Nice to see you awake, Sydney. How are you doing?" She asked.
"Where's Noah?" I asked her. Maybe she would respond to me. She stopped what she was doing and looked at me.
"Sydney..." She paused. "Noah.... Died in the accident." She spoke softly. Tears formed in my eyes.
"You're kidding, right?! Please! Please tell me you're kidding!" I pleaded.
She looked disappointed. "I'm sorry. But, he's gone." I looked down at my left hand. The ring was still there. I cried silently. The tears fell, and I couldn't stop them.
"Sydney, I'm so sorry." Megan spoke up. They had all sat there for a few minutes listening, and watching me cry. "I know how much you love-" I cut her off. "No! You don't know! He had proposed to me just before the accident. We were going to get married. We were going to spend the rest of our lives together. You don't understand. I could of lost him, when he was in the battlefield. But instead I lost him in a freaking car accident!" Noah was a soldier. He had returned from war two months ago, and we were dating before he left.
"Sydney. I know it's hard. But it'll be okay. I promise you." I sat there and cried. I cried for so long, that everyone left the room, and I ended up crying myself back to sleep.
I was released from the hospital. Nothing major happened to me. Just cuts and bruises. A week after the accident was his funeral.
"Sydney. Would you like to say a few words?" The preacher asked. I decided I would, and I stood up.
"Noah and I, had gotten engaged, just minutes before the accident." I looked down at my hand, and the ring was still there. I couldn't take it off.
I continued. "Noah, was always there for me. Right from the start. He was funny, kind, charming. Everything I fell for. He was the kind of person everyone loved..." I couldn't continue. I missed him too much. Tears came to my eyes, and I shook my head. "I'm sorry. I can't do this." I walked back to my place and watched as they placed his body in the ground. I placed a handful of dirt on his grave, and walked away. Megan did the same, and came after me.
"Let's go out for lunch." She suggested. I nodded in agreement. I picked her up, before the funeral, so we got into my car. We drove to Nandos, and ordered. We talked for a while, and I took her home. I went home, and from there, things went downhill.
