It's been two years since the Fireflies had me and Joel captive, I really thought we were goners until he told me they gave up and that's when I knew we could start our lives over. But then Tommy told us a mysterious group has been seen nearby and they mentioned my name. I bet its the fireflies but when I told Joel, he acted as if he never heard me and walked away. I don't want to put him through this again but who else would do this for me? Nobody.

1. I

"C'mon kiddo." Joel said to me with his back turned.

"I... I'm sorry. About all of this.." I whispered in response with my head tilted to the side.

"I knew things weren't going to be completely normal, I mean look at this, its been two years and we are still fighting clickers." He told me in between deep breaths.

I nodded but to be honest, I felt like a complete burden, my best friend has been gone for quite some time and I still can't forgive myself even if it wasn't my fault.

We shook hands with the people we met and said our goodbyes to Tommy and his wife, packed all the things Tommy gave us and went on our way. It felt like we were going back in time but only this journey has never ended in the first place. "Yanno when we celebrated my birthday last year? It was actually my first time celebrating it." I told him and he kinda smiled.

"Really? The first time." Joel laughed and ruffled my hair, it wasn't in a ponytail so I didn't mind.

"I didn't know it could be that fun and I wish I had a birthday everyday, well just not with the aging and getting old like you." I shot the joke at him and we laughed together.

Luckily we were able to take a horse with us so we didn't have to walk on foot, the hell that would of been. After a few minutes of silence I fell asleep. But the loud thuds woke me up and I could see Joel had the shotgun in his hand, prepared. "What's going on?!?" I shouted and wrapped my hair into a ponytail.

"I heard gunshots and fuckin' clickers. Just my luck." He growled and I stared. This has got to be a joke. I picked up my bow and arrow, ready for my enemy but nothing was there. It was total silence and all we could hear were birds chirping and predators searching for their next prey.

"I'm just gonna go back to sleep." I told him and yawned.
