Don't Let Me Go

Fear. That is all that was traveling through my body. My eyes spilled tears; my whole entire body trembled from the cold wind. Someone was out to get me, and I knew it. Someone out there wants to kill me, and I cannot do anything to stop them, except for to keep running.

What would you do if your whole life was on the move, afraid that someone out there is going to eventually kill you? That your whole life just flipped upside down in the matter of one normal night? What if someone could save you though?

"The gun was fired, and all I could see was the bullet sinking right into my lovers heart"

1. Chapter 1

Author's note: Italicized is the flashback

Silence. That is all I hear in the dark atmosphere. There were no birds chirping, no people walking by. All there was was silence. The water that trickled down the stream was unheard, as it traveled down without a sound. Everything was black, the sky, the trees, everything. I carefully laid myself onto the soft prickly grass and looked up at the cloudy sky. There was not a star in sight. Everything around me was dark.

Fear. That is all that was traveling through my body. My eyes spilled tears; my whole entire body trembled from the cold wind. Someone was out to get me, and I knew it. Someone out there wants to kill me, and I cannot do anything to stop them, except for to keep running.

I was lying in my bed, writing in my diary, like I always do at night before bed. There was suddenly this loud knock on the front door, which caused me to jump a little in my seat. I figured my mum or dad would answer the door, so I stayed right in my spot. But then there was a loud crash, and everyone was screaming at each other. I quickly got onto my feet to go check out the situation. My toes barely touched the floorboards, as I glided across the hall to peek down. A gun shot was fired, the bullet going into my mum and father. I shrill scream erupted from my throat, causing the gunman to snap his head in my direction. He slowly started moving towards me, and I sprinted up the hall. I didn’t know what to do. I could hear the shouts of the angry man moving towards me, as I was fidgeting with my bedroom window.
“Come on, open!” I yelled to myself, the footsteps getting louder.

The window busted open, and I quickly slid out. I was now on top of our roof, the ground seeming so far down from where I was. This man was after me, and I had nowhere to go but to jump. I had to do it to save my life. It was the only way. I looked down at the ground, fear washing over me. Louder. The footsteps approached me; I could see the man’s face, an evil little smirk plastered all over it. I closed my bright blue eyes, and jumped. The air sped past me, I felt like I was floating. As soon as I hit the ground, I was in sheer pain. My ankles felt as if someone stabbed them repetitively with a knife. Ignoring the pain, I ran. I ran as fast as I could until I couldn’t stand it any longer. I fell to the ground in defeat; no more footsteps could be heard.

*****

The water felt good on my face as I rubbed the dirt away. My ankles were swollen from the big jump I took from the roof. All I could think about was the bullet going straight into my parent’s heads. The thought of them not being in my life made me want to curl up into a ball and cry. I had to be strong though. I cannot sit and cry about them when I have so much more to do before I can sulk. I tried to stand up, but my ankles wouldn’t cooperate with the sudden movement. I just lied there, looking up at the cloudy sky. I felt a few rain drops but I tried to ignore them. Pretty soon it was pouring rain. I still did not move.

I heard footsteps. They got louder and faster. I wanted to scream and run, but I couldn’t do anything. My ankle was too beat up to even stand up right. I squeezed my eyes shut, the rain splashing on my pale face. I heard rapid breathing coming from right next to me. I felt my body being lifted off the ground. I didn’t dare to open my eyes as I was carried away, my consciousness slowly drifting into complete darkness.

Dark. The world around me was dark. I could see nor touch anything. The strange man holding me was dark; I could not see anything about him. The whole world was in darkness, and I hope that one day it won’t be like that anymore.

Light. No longer exists. You cannot see anything anymore. People are sad, I am sad. The street lamps are burnt out. I don’t know where to go. No one is guiding me but this guy.

I am lost right now, and I hope he doesn’t let me go.
