Where Did I Go Wrong

the "Inspired By A Song" competition. My story was inspired by the song "How To Save A Life" by The Fray. My story is about a girl (Dawn) struggling to fight depression and her best friend (Caelan) who is trying his hardest to understand her and help her through it. Life is full of ups and downs, some people experience it more than others. But that is why we have to find a way to get through it.
“By letting it go, it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try, the world is beyond winning.” -Lao Tzu

8. Finally Letting It All Go (Epilogue)

One year since my near-death experience.

More than one year since I last cut.

I am a changed person.

After I had finally gotten past my parent's death, I have never been the same.

But, in a positive and good way.

I'm still living with Caelan, but a few months away from the end of my second time being a senior.

After they cured my depression, I had gone back to school.

But it was really hard to catch up.

I never started high school back then, so being held back is slightly annoying, but as long as I am smart as an average kid, I'll be fine.

Caelan told me that he wouldn't leave until I graduated.

He wants us to go to the same college.

I find it funny that he is still my friend, since all the stuff I put him through.

Well, he isn't really my friend anymore, but something more.

Something more than a best friend too.

I now know what I feels like to slowly fall in love with your best friend.

It feels good, it makes me happy.

He makes me happy.

I can no longer be sad anymore.

I know that I have to be happy for myself, and everyone else.

But it's okay, I love being happy.

And I am happy for all the right reasons.

I realized how precious life was, and I realized that the only thing that was stopping me from being happy, was myself.

Thank you for helping me realize this.

Thank you.
