2. Gabrielle's Decision

I paced back in forth in my bedroom, Matt or Elpidios sitting on my bed, looking extremely worried about me. My adoptive parents were downstairs and my birth parents back up on Mount Olympus. I collapsed in my computer chair and let my head fall into my hands.

"Gabby, uh you don't have to make the decision exactly now." I looked up at him and let my mouth form a perfect 'o' of shock. He didn't say anything more on the subject instead he laid back on the bed. I turned on my computer and tried to research my supposed birth place. Nothing, not even my favorite search engine had one fact on Mount Olympus. I cried, I actually started to cry. I am a Goddess. Of what I didn't know. From what my mother told me, I'm an illegal Goddess. I can be destroyed if Zeus doesn't accept me as his grand daughter. If I am destroyed, and that is if I choose to live on Mount Olympus I will be cast into exile, into Tartarus with all of the Titans and the evil ones. If I decide to stay on Earth forever, my powers will be stripped and Matt taken from me. I slammed my key-board and an icon appeared on my desk top, I clicked it and the booming voice that could only belong to my grand father erupted from my speakers. I cringed, afraid that he hadn't accepted Aphrodite's and Apollo's side of the story. Afraid he was here to destroy me.

"GABRIELLE ANDERSON. ILLEGAL AND POSSIBLY DANGEROUS DAUGHTER OF APHRODITE, GODDESS OF LOVE, AND APOLLO, GOD OF THE RISING SUN AND PROTECTOR OF THE ARTS. YOU HAVE BEEN SUMMONED TO MOUNT OLYMPUS. YOU MAY DECIDE YOUR FATE THERE!"

My computer screen went black and smoke was coming from the speakers. Matt looked at me and sighed.

"Elpidios, God of Transport and Safe Travel at your service."

"Your kidding."

"No unfortunately, my uncle doesn't take too kindly to his brother's mistakes!"

"Stop it Matt. You'll get both of us in trouble."

"I'm already in trouble. I should have ensured safe travel."

"Stop it."

"A tip for the road? Do not under any circumstances call me Matt Sanders."

"Why?"

"Zeus and my father don't like human names. You must address me as Elpidios."

"Alright. Elpidios. I have to say good bye. Or they'll freak."

"They received the message...trust me." Elpidios grabbed me by my waist and I blushed because my chest brushed his, and his hands ventured south of my lower back. "Ready?"

"Yes." with no other warning he flew into the sky. Turning us both invisible. To the passing car we looked like a shooting star. To a plane nothing just the sky. I gasped at the beauty never before seen by man. Not the way I was experiencing it at least. Colors unknown to Crayola passed us, and the stars were warm to the touch creating a warm summer's breeze in the dead of winter. I smiled and Elpidios did the same. At least if I was destroyed I could experience this. He stopped suddenly, a wavering invisible wall was between us and a cloud covered mountain. Or at least that was what the human eye would tell you. Elpidios slid through it and I was in Mount Olympus. The beauty is so hard to describe. In modern language, it would be called glorious. But here now, I was speechless. Ancient marble buildings tore the sky, path ways of ancient gold and silver made the impressive road to the most glorious of the buildings. A giant lightening bolt forged by Hephaestus lit up the shining bronze roof.

"Come on. Don't look anyone in the eye." my gazing and observing was interrupted by a familiar voice. The sweet  euphoric voice of my mother. Her sea foam eyes lit with worry and love, always love. I followed her. Did I have a choice really.

"Mother, er Aphrodite, will he be understanding? Will he accept me?"

"I don't know dear Gabrielle. Why did they choose a Christian name? Aglaia come on." She swooped my hand into her's and raced towards the Grand House. Elpidios tagging along. When we came to the doors, Apollo stood there ,gloomy eyes cast at Aphrodite. When he saw me he tried to smile warmly, his smile never met his eyes. The grand doors were made of Celestial Bronze, and the knocker were silver lightening bolts. This wasn't a home this was a fortress. Why did he need protection?

"We can not keep him waiting for long. Aglaia come along." Apollo said glumly. Oh god my fate is bad really bad, or he was expecting the worst. I followed my father, scared of the impressive architecture. Giant stone statues of the Big Three stood at the Throne room entrance, and I had a feeling that all of the Three would be waiting inside. I swallowed the bile that threatened to spill over into my mouth and the black marble floor. Apollo knocked and the grand doors were opened my satyrs. I walked slowly into the main hall and the God of Gods sat in the very middle of three thrones. Poseidon and Hades on either side. The wives looked uncomfortable. Elpidios, who had followed looked up knowingly at his father and Persephone. Persephone tried to smile warmly at him and me, but his father kept his focus on his brother.

"SIT! ALL OF YOU WHO'VE ACCOMPANIED THE ILLEGAL GODDESS."  we all sat and I was still scared my street clothes had been magically replaced when I had entered Olympus, to an indecisive Greek robe  it had sun's and then hearts. I dared to look up at Zeus and he eyed me.

"Father Zeus please. Hephaestus wasn't treating me fairly, Apollo and I are companions. Why can't you see that? Greek Law state that if companions conceive a child but one his matched to another, then that child is legal. That was the case with Elpidios. And look they are companions! Do you not see the glow about them that you and Hera share? That Poseidon shares with his companion? Hephaestus and I never shared such a glow. Apollo and I do father please hear this proposal as the truth." Aphrodite pleaded with her father who at least twelve stories tall.

"APHRODITE. I TOO SEE THE GLOW, BUT YOU KEPT HER THIS CHILD A SECRET FROM US. WHAT WERE YOU AFRAID OF?"

"This outcome, this grand jury. This interrogation. Mostly I was afraid of what Hephaestus would do to her. Look at her. He values beauty yes, but she was made with Apollo not him. He would destroy her!"

"YOU HAVE MADE YOUR POINT. I WILL ACCEPT HER AS A GODDESS. IF SHE CHOOSES TO STAY HERE FOR ALL OF ETERNITY SHE WILL BE THE GODDESS OF FORBIDDEN ROMANCE AND SACRIFICE. GABRIELLE ANDERSON OR AGLAIA GODDESS OF FORBIDDEN ROMANCE AND SACRIFICE WHAT IS YOUR DECISION?" I stared dumbfounded. I had been accepted? So quickly so easily? But how? Surely Aphrodite wasn't that good at playing favorite daughter. "WHAT IS YOUR DECISION?"

"I choose to stay on Olympus with my parent and companion Elpidios."

"EXCELLENT. YOU HAVE TWO WEEKS TO SPEND WITH YOUR EARTH FAMILY."

"Thank you Zeus, God of Gods."
