13. Changed

Since the day Melissa regained consciousness things had changed, Melissa told Jim he didn't need to be at her side all day so he could get some work done, Uhura spent most of her time gossiping and filling in Melissa on anything she'd missed but most of all, Chekov had changed. He had visited her once since she was beamed back on board and he began to wonder if he should go see her now she's awake. Chekov waited for a day when Jim was busy before he went to see Melissa, he thought it might be easier.

Chekov walked into the not so busy medical bay. Spock was asleep which was unusual but Melissa was sat up reading, which wan't that unusual.

"Melissa?" she looked up from her book,

"Hi" she said placing her bookmark inside her book and placing it on her lap. Chekov swallowed, the first thing he noticed about her was her hair. It was tucked behind her ears making her golden signet show.

"i wanted to see if you were okay" he said walking and standing next to her bed. She nodded,

"i'm fine" he nodded back at her then burst into tears. He dropped onto the chair next to her bed and covered his face with his hands. He didn't know why he was crying but it felt good. "Pasha! whats wrong?" he looked up at her, tear streaming down his face

"you" he said sniffing "i miss you, i need you"

"pasha" she said sadly putting her hand on his "you left me, and we weren't meant to be together" another tear ran down Chekov's face, she was right. She was always right. He pulled his hand away from hers, stood up and said

"i hope you'll be happy" before leaving without saying another word.
