40. Chapter 39 ~ Liam

Chapter 39 ~ Liam

Is it possible to love someone so much you think you're heart is going to burst? I know, not the manliest thing to say but it's true. When Parker brought me here I never would have expected this. It's so beautiful, but not as stunning as she is. Not even remotely close. That black dress she's wearing is enough to make me go insane.

Emily is a really nice girl and she's extremely talented. The song she sings first makes me fall in love with Parker even more. Every second I spend with her the more I fall in love with her. She just makes me so happy. I couldn't remember the last time I was smiling this much. Even if we're not talking, it's comfortable. There is no such thing as awkward between us, and I love that.

When Emily sang the line "Feels like I'm falling and I, I'm lost in your eyes," I felt like this song was made for Parker and I. Her brown eyes met mine and I could stare at her for an eternity. She's utterly gorgeous no matter what she's wearing or what she's doing. Even when she is filling out applications for nearby jobs I find myself staring, which makes her blush and throw her pen at me. That always ends up with me laughing at her and eventually kissing her.

The first song ends and I flash Emily a smile. She's a brilliant singer, really. Have the lads heard her? They should. I remember one time Parker telling me that she was watching Emily on YouTube, but I never thought anything of it then. Now, I know why Parker was so interested. Emily needs to be recognized for what she does.

Almost right after that song, Emily starts strumming the chords on her guitar and I know the song immediately. It's a wonderful song and the fact that Parker feels what the lyrics say makes me feel like I'm never going to lose her. If I did, I don't know what I would do.

"I'm desperate for changing , Starving for truth
I'm closer to where I started
I'm chasing after you

I'm falling even more in love with you, letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move, I'm hanging by a moment here with you

Forgetting all I'm lacking, completely incomplete
I'll take your invitation, you take all of me now

I'm falling even more in love with you, letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move, I'm hanging by a moment here with you

I'm living for the only thing I know, I'm running and not quite sure where to go
And I don't know what I'm diving into, just hanging by a moment here with you..."

I hold Parker in my arms song after song after song, and I'm not even a little bit tired after the last one. I could hold her in my arms forever, but she would never be close enough. I smile down at her, and then gently kiss her lips. Her arms hook around my neck and I barely notice when Emily leaves quietly. I'll have to call her or something and thank her for doing this, it was very thoughtful.

When I pull away, the glow of the lights strung around the gazebo give her a certain glow that takes my breath away. "Why?" I asked her.

"Why what?"

"Why did you do all of this?" I looked around us.

"I don't know. To repay you I suppose." She shrugs.

I didn't understand. "What do you mean repay me?"

"Why not do all of this? You have done so much for me, Liam. You gave me a place to stay, you gave me friends, hope, and most importantly, you gave me you. I've never given you anything in return, and I feel bad about it." She admitted.

"Is that what this is about? You think you don't do anything for me?" I bent my knees slightly so I could meet her eyes.

She looked away and mumbled, "Yeah. I mean, I was sort of a bitch to you when we first met."

For some reason, that made me laugh. "Yes, I'll admit you were. But you don't have to give me anything Parker, you give me more than enough by being here, with me in this moment. I love you." I kissed her nose, something that I love doing because it makes her giggle.

She smiled sweetly at me. "I love you, and though I don't have to get you anything, still expect more surprises like this one and more." She gave me a wicked smile and I found myself looking forward to what she had in mind.

I brought her impossibly close so there was almost no space between our bodies. "I can't wait."

She leaned in, and just when I thought she was going to kiss me again she pulled away and ran up to the miniature stage and grabbed the microphone, belting out random lyrics which mostly were "oh yeah's" and "ooh baby's!" Her voice was absolutely horrid and I found myself stifling laughter. She stopped and looked at me with wide eyes but a smile on her lips.

"Liam Payne! Are you making fun of me?" Her jaw dropped, and then she bit her lip to stop laughing herself.

"Of course not love," I reasoned. "You just can't sing at all."

"Hey!" She protested, whacking me with the mic. I stole it from her, and, just to hear her laugh, I started singing Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend", doing a little beat-boxing before and after. I was right: she bursts into a fit of laughter and because I can, I twirl her around in a circle.

"That was really lame." She scoffed when I set her down.

"What? I thought it was pretty cute."

"You're joking? That was completely cliché and ridiculous." She crossed her arms. I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever." I grabbed her hand in mine and led us down the steps and out onto the sand dunes. There was an evening breeze and the sun had set a long time ago. The strung up lights provided a nice glow to the sand, and I sat down, Parker sitting between my legs. I wrapped my arms around her shoulders, and I realized she was right: it was cliché and ridiculous, but that doesn't make it any less special. Every moment I will have with this amazing girl will be special, and those moments are the ones I'm looking forward to the most.

Parker chuckled, and I looked down at her. "What's so funny?" I asked.

"Nothing, I was just thinking about the time when...never mind."

"No, tell me!" I insisted.

"You want to know? Fine but you're going to be beyond freaked out."

"Try me," I challenged.

"Alright," she said, clearing her throat. "On Christmas in 2011 I woke up and ran downstairs. Even when I was seventeen I still got really excited for Christmas. Anyways, I had heard this song the day before on the radio, and I really liked it. So, when it was over, they said it was by a band named One Direction."

I laughed, knowing where this was going.

"And at first, I thought, who are they? So, I did some research, and as it turns out, I really liked this band, and I just forgot their name," she teased. "I told my mother about them and she ran out to the store, claiming she had something to do. I didn't think twice about it, even though it was about six in the evening on Christmas Eve."

I loved this. I loved knowing more about her when it comes to her past, and I'm so grateful she's opening up to me.

"When I came downstairs Christmas morning, there were so many presents under the tree. And they were all for me." Her voice dropped to a disgusted tone, but she moved past it quickly. "The first thing I saw was a square, so I tore away the paper and saw a CD. But not just any CD, Liam, no. This one had five guys on it, the picture was black and white and I knew what it was. I thanked my mom and dad, and as soon as everything was opened, I went to my room to listen to the album."

I smiled. It amuses me that she got our first album as a gift. It's strange to think that I'm here with that same girl.

"My mom had to come to my room too many times to count to tell me to shut it off, apparently it was too loud." She laughed and I kissed the top of her head.

"Thank you for sharing that with me." I said to her.

"You're not weirded out?"

"Why would I be?"

"Oh, I don't know," she said sarcastically, "I basically just told you how obsessed I was with your band."

I chuckled. "Don't worry babe. It's cute almost."

"Cute? There is no possible way that that is cute. Now that I look back, I was creepy about it. I had posters, the whole bit."

"Really? You?" I found it extremely hard to believe.

"Yes, really." She laughed hysterically and I found myself holding my sides.

"That's why I love you," I confessed.

"What is?"

"That you're you." I brought her lips to mine quickly. "You're not ashamed of who you were back then, or who you are now for that matter. I don't think many people would tell me or any of the other lads what you just shared."

Parker paused before saying, "And that's why I love you." Before I could ask what she meant, she continued. "You're not afraid to tell me what you're thinking. You, Liam Payne are the most humane, caring, honest and kind-hearted people I have ever met. I know that there will be no secrets, no lies between us." She took my hands in her smaller ones. "I love that, you make me feel safe."

I hugged her tight again, and she looked out at the water. There was no need for me to say it back; I knew she knew what I was thinking. We need each other. We are each other's safety lines. We need each other so much, but that's one of the reasons why we're together: because we feel needed. Everyone wants to feel important, or wanted, or loved.

But we're different than everyone else. She's the light that appears to rid of the darkness in my world, she's the beat to my heart, the blood in my veins. No one will understand just how much we mean to each other, but I suppose that's a good thing. It'll be like we'll have our own language, tell each other we love the other in a way that's made just for us two.

We can move past our differences and no matter what happens, I'll do anything for her because she is more than just my life line, she's life itself.

This is the last official chapter, but there will be an epilogue, I will say my thank you's then. :)

PS- The song that was sung in this chapter is "Hanging by a Moment" by Lifehouse.
