39. Chapter 38 ~ Parker

Chapter 38 ~ Parker

When he opened the door, I hadn’t expecting him to tell me he loves me. Hell, I hadn’t expected to say it back, either.

But I did.

I had to kiss Liam; I love him too much. When he told me he loved me, a feeling spread through me, something I’d never felt before. I’d never been in love, let alone having the person I love, love me back. I’m sure I love him more than he loves me, but I know he would refuse that if I said so. I agree with what he said about not being able to give the reasons for why he loves me. If someone asked me why I love Liam Payne, I don’t know how I would reply. I guess I would say it’s because Liam is…Liam. Liam is who I love and it’s insane how things have changed between us.

Like I said, I’d never been in love. I had celebrity crushes before, who hasn’t? When I was younger I thought I was going to marry Chad Michael Murray. But have you seen him? He’s gorgeous. Now that I have found my light, my own little source of happiness, I’m not sure what to do. What if he leaves me?

But then I realize that I need to let myself be happy. All these years I’ve been only feeling anger at my parents, and although they deserve it, God knows that, I’ve never done anything a normal nineteen does. Now that I’m with Liam I feel like I can do anything, and he’ll be right beside me.

I can never repay him for anything he’s done for me. He took me in, made me change for the best, hell; he made me fall in love with him. And what have I done for him? I’ve done nothing. He’s done so many things to show me he cares about me. I’ve done nothing.

“I love you, Liam Payne.” I smile at him, my legs still straddling his waist.

I never knew anyone could smile as widely as he did after I said those words. I never knew anyone’s eyes could have the sparkle his did. Instead of answering, he kissed me again, and I didn’t hesitate to kiss him back. He’s like my drug: I’m addicting beyond belief; if I’m suddenly deprived of him, I’ll be sick and a mess; I can never get enough of him.

But that’s the best part.

“Whatchadoin’?” Liam asked me the next day as I typed on his laptop. I really need to get one of these.

“Just emailing a friend,” I smiled. He kissed my cheek and then left the room.

I turned to make sure that he was gone before I opened the tab I was looking at before he walked in the room. Don’t worry, I wasn’t doing anything bad. In fact, I was repaying him for all he’s done for me.

I clicked the email in her YouTube video description and it took me to my email with her address in the correct box. I bit my lip and then began to type. It was pure luck that Emily was in Miami right now, so this had to happen soon.

Ten minutes later, the email was typed, sent, and I was awaiting a reply. Would she help me with this? I’d never met her before and she was my only option here on such short notice. I called Amabel and filled her in, and she squealed with happiness. I told her to tell the rest of the boys as well, but they had to keep it a secret from Liam. She promised and then hung up, going to tell Harry no doubt.

Liam’s laptop binged, signaling a new email was received. I smiled when I saw that Emily replied. Already? I wasn’t expecting a reply for a few hours, maybe even days. The news I read was what I had wanted to hear, and we agreed to meet in an hour at Suzanne’s Café on Second Street. I told Liam I was going to do some grocery shopping (he handed me a twenty, which I refused although he shoved it in my purse anyways) and met Emily. This was going to be amazing.

“Harry, can you help me with this? I’m not tall enough?” I asked my friend two days later.

“Sure!” he smiled, and came over and secured the lights over the roof. How did he do that? He’s not that tall.

"This looks so great!” Amabel cried, jumping up and down while clapping her hands together. Harry smirked at her and kissed her forehead. When I first met them, deep down, I was jealous. Now I’m not, I have my very own “Batman.” (He likes to call himself that, and he likes it even more when I do it.)

“What time are you bringing him here?” Zayn asked me.

"Eight. It’ll be dark enough then right?” I answered and they nodded. I was more than a little nervous for this.

"t was six-thirty now, and I still had to go back to the apartment and change.

“I’m all set,” Emily smiled while walking over. “I’ll be here at seven forty-five. Let me know if I need to come earlier.”

“I seriously can’t thank you enough.” I said for the millionth time, giving her a tight squeeze.

“I’m glad I could do this for you.” Emily said.

“You said she was from YouTube right?” Louis frowned once she was gone.

I nodded. “She makes covers and writes her own songs, uploads them and they’re not as popular as they should be. She’s amazing, really.” I wanted the entire world to see how talented Emily was. I knew she would get there one day. The boys seemed to like her enough.

“You have to go and get ready, girl!” Amabel said to me, and I gave each of them a hug before driving to the apartment. Everything was ready when I left. The lights were secure and all of Emily’s equipment was ready for tonight.

When I unlocked the door it was a few minutes to seven. “Hey babe,” Liam greeted me with a smile and a kiss.

“Get dressed. Something nice. Not too nice, though. Okay?” I ordered.

He raised an eyebrow. “What for?”

I pecked his lips. “I can’t tell you.” I brought my lips to his ear and whispered, “It’s a secret.”

He chuckled but went to the bedroom to change. I heard him start the shower. Since his showers take no longer than five minutes, I knew I didn’t have long before he would be out and dressed. I pulled a black dress out of the closet we shared—yep, that’s right—and pulled it on. I showered this morning so my hair was still clean. The dress went to mid-thigh; the neckline was to my collarbone and square. My shoulders and arms were bare, but the dress was tight, allowing it to show off my curves. I took my makeup bag into the bedroom that I used to stay in when I first lived here and applied my makeup, going darker than usual. It actually didn’t look bad, and I slipped on my converse. I wear them almost every day and I liked the way they looked with the dress.

When I went to wait by the front door, I was surprised at the sight of Liam standing there already. His eyes widened when he saw me and he gulped when I came closer. A blush crept up on my cheeks and I smiled. He was wearing dress pants and a button down shirt that rolled up to his elbows. He completed the look with his black converse, too, and it felt like it was our own thing: wearing converse all the time

“Where are we going?” He asked when we got to the car. I started the ignition and then kissed him sweetly.

When I pulled away, I replied, “Still not telling you.”

“Aren’t these roles supposed to be reversed? You know, I’m the one driving you to the mysterious location? Since when does the girl drive the guy?”

“Since now,” I smirked.

When I pulled into the parking lot at the beach I knew Liam was confused, but I didn’t say anything. I checked my phone, and saw that it was seven fifty-five: right on time.

I led Liam by the hand down the shore and we stopped at our destination a few minutes later. There, thirty feet from the water was the white gazebo with the lights wrapped around the poles and over the roof. It was shaped like an octagon, and the lights gave the whole place a warm glow.

I looked over at him, and saw his eyes wide. “You…you did this for me?” he asked wearing a look of complete awe.

“Yeah,” I muttered, kicking some sand.

“I love you,” Liam smiled, bringing his lips to my cheek and leading us to up to the gazebo. “It’s beautiful.”

"And I love you. I had some help.” I gave Emily a wink when we approached her. “Liam, I would like you to meet Emily Harder. I emailed her and she’s here for us. She was in the area and I thought it would be nice to have someone to tell you how I feel, since I’m not that good at telling you myself. Emily sings covers of songs and writes some of her own, too.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” Liam smiled at her and Emily shook his hand.

“Likewise. I hope you have a good time tonight.” She said politely.

We thanked her and she took a seat on her stool in front of the microphone and I led Liam to the middle of the gazebo and placed one hand on his shoulder and my left hand held his right. “We’re going to dance?” He asked.

“Yes,” I said.

“I would have never thought you were the dancing type.” He chuckled, placing his left hand on the small of my back.

"I’m not. I’m doing this because I thought it would be fun. Now dance with me.” I ordered and he chuckled but obeyed. Emily started strumming a song I knew all too well. Her voice flowed so smoothly and I knew Liam was surprised at how good she was. I gave her some songs to sing that I thought I could relate to Liam and I, and I hoped Liam would hear the lyrics and see that this is how I feel about him.

I've never gone with the wind, just let it flow
Let it take me where it wants to go
Till you open the door, there's so much more
I've never seen it before

I was trying to fly, but I couldn't find wings
Then you came along, and you changed everything

You lift my feet off the ground, spin me around
You make me crazier, crazier
Feels like I'm falling and I'm lost in your eyes
You make me crazier, crazier, crazier

I felt like the next lyrics were words right out of my mouth. My head rested on Liam’s shoulder and his face was nuzzled in my neck as we swayed back and forth.

Watched from a distance as you made life your own
Every sky was your own kind of blue
And I wanted to know how that would feel, and you made it so real

You showed me something that I couldn't see
You opened my eyes and you made me believe

You lift my feet off the ground, spin me around
You make me crazier, crazier
Feels like I'm falling and I, I'm lost in your eyes
You make me crazier, crazier, crazier, ohh......

Baby, you showed me what living is for
I don't want to hide anymore..... More....

You lift my feet off the ground, spin me around
You make me crazier, crazier
Feels like I'm falling and I, I'm lost in your eyes
You make me crazier,
Crazier, crazier, crazier, crazier, crazier, oooh

Liam’s lips pressed against mine in a passionate kiss and I knew that no matter where I was, what we were doing, I would be happy and long as Liam would be there to hold my hand.

If you didn't know the song that Emily sang, it's Crazier by Taylor Swift. There is only one more chapter, then the epilouge, can you believe it? I can't.
