11. Chapter 9

"You know," Justin said. "Tying my hands up wont do much." He was sitting in a chair with his hands tied around the back. He shifted around multiple times because the chair was uncomfortable, but the rope around his hands didn't bother him.

The kid standing in front of him snorted. "How so? They seem to be working just fine."

"What's your name?" Justin asked suddenly.

The kid looked down at him through his messed-up blonde hair and frowned. "Max, why?"

"Well, Max," Justin said with a somewhat hysterical tone as he rose from the chair, gripping the now untied rope in his hand. "I know how to escape."

Max stared at him with wide eyes. It was funny to Justin that he didn't know what he could do. "But those were so tight, I don't-"

Justin held up a hand. "Now, now. Let's not get carried away." He handed the rope to Max with a smirk. "Why don't you use these to tie yourself up, while I leave and get back to my friends. Damn, they're probably getting worried!"

Max opened his mouth to say something, but Justin was already gone. He had grabbed his jacket from the coat rack by the door--to which he had no idea why Max had put it there--and was now shrugging it on. As he approached the car, he saw Chaz and Ryan waiting for him.

Chaz had a giant smile on his face and Ryan was glaring at who knows what. Justin could just imagine their fight--and he imagined Chaz winning.

"Dude are you okay?" Chaz asked.

Justin shrugged. "I'm fine, honestly. I'm just wondering about you two." He pointed two fingers at the both of them, and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. Ryan cracked a smile.

"Nothing." Ryan said. " Just don't do that ever again. It's terrifying."

"Do what?" Justin smirked and wiggled his eyebrows again.

They both broke out laughing and gave each other an arm hug, and then they all started off down the sidewalk again. They had walked about twenty feet before that scrawny little kid, Max, was in front of Justin again. He looked mad.

"I thought I told you to tie yourself up and get lost." Justin said.

Max waved an angry finger at him. "I could tell you to stick your foot up your ass, but you wouldn't do it, would you?"

Justin's eyebrows lifted at his comment, but he kept his mouth shut.

"I wasn't done with you, Bieber." Max dropped his hand. "Boss says he still needs information, but I see that you're going to play hard to get. So I'll settle for one of these two."

"Wait, hold up." Chaz said. "When you left, you said this kid was your cousin. Now he's mentioning some boss and he wants to kidnap me and Ryan?"

"Not both of you," Max corrected. "Just one of you."

Justin rolled his eyes. "He's not my cousin, he just said that he was working for some guy and that he needed information out of me. So, naturally, I followed him." He studied Max lazily. "I haven't really had any good fun of that kind since the Prezlocki's died."

Max drew in a sharp breath. "You mean, Colton, Cooper, and Dakota Prezlocki?"

"Yes," Justin said slowly. "But it doesn't matter. They're dead, and you're just a kid. Now shoo, we're trying to have some brotherly bonding time."

"I am twenty-two years old, thank you." Max crossed his arms. "And I know that's not true."

Justin shrugged. "It was worth a try."

Ryan studied Max carefully. "I'm starting to agree with Justin, you should get lost."

Max looked over at Chaz.

"I ain't coming with you," Chaz held up his hands in mock surrender. "I'm just Chaz, I don't know anything."

"Did you just say, ain't?" Justin asked him with a disbelieving tone. Chaz grinned and shrugged. Justin cracked a smile.

Max cleared his throat and the two boys turned their attention back to him. They both jumped at the sight of a woman in about her thirties glaring up at them. "Can you please move?" She asked, and Justin stepped out of the way. Chaz's gaze followed her as she walked away.

Justin frantically turned around in circles. He had just realized that Max hadn't cleared his throat--he'd taken advantage of Justin and Chaz getting distracted; and he'd taken Ryan with him.

After a while, they both calmed down and were now back at the car. Chaz was trying to catch his breath.

"Dude, that was not cool." He said. "That kid stole Ryan from us!"

Justin opened his car door and stared down at the ground. "Yes, he did. I know how to get him back, though."

As they both got into the car, Chaz asked, "How? We don't even know that kid."

"Who, Max?" Justin said, to which Chaz nodded. He sighed. "Actually, I do. And I know another person who knows him, too. In fact," He paused. "I think her and Max used to date."
