18. Chapter 17.

*Harry's P.O.V.*

I woke up and took in my surroundings. It felt nice to be home, in my room, in my own bed and knowing that I was gonna be here for a while.

I'd really missed Holmes Chapel, and all my friends here. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually miss school. Too bad this is my last year.

I feel so bad for Anna though, she was really looking forward to being in the same class as me, she'd always wanted the both of us to be in the same class. I really need to talk to her and remind her of how truly sorry I am, because she's the kind of people who forgive easily, but are still hurt on the inside. I can't believe I, of all people, hurt her. I should probably punch myself.

~Flashback~

I sat on Anna's bed as I watched her draw something in her little scrapbook.

"Whatchyu drawing, Annnnaaaa?" I said in a kiddish voice, trying to get her to look at me. "Nothing," she mumbled without looking up, still furiously drawing some shapes and figures that I couldn't figure out. I need to know what she's drawing.

"Tell me, Anna!" I whined. "It's nothing! Okay?!" she snapped, turning around to look at me.

Her features immediately softened as she looked at my startled expression and realised what she'd done.

"I-I'm sorry, Haz. I didn't mean to say it like tha-" she started, but I cut her off, "You don't have to explain, just tell me what's wrong." I patted the empty space next to me.

She slowly shuffled towards me and sat down on her bed.

I looked at her with questioning eyes as she hesistated to speak. "Tell me. Doesn't matter what it is." I said, putting my arm around her and rubbing her shoulder.

"It-It's Conor." she whispered. I tensed up as she said his name.

Conor and I used to be friends, we still kind of are, but he complicates things with Anna way too much, and I hate him for that.

"What did he do?" I said, trying to be calm. "Harry, please don't, please don't hurt him." she pleaded, fighting back the tears threatening to fall out of her eyes. "Anna, I swear to God, if he hurt you, he will be sorry!" I said, almost yelling. "Haz, you don't understand. I think I-I love him." she sniffled. "Let me guess, he doesn't even like you back?" "No," she said, trying not to cry. "That doesn't give him a reason to hurt you, Anna." I growled. "Please, Haz, don't hurt him." she pleaded, a few tears spilling out of her eyes.

As much as I hated Conor for making Anna cry right now, I knew that punching him would make Anna feel worse, so I decided to try my best and keep calm.

"Look, if he, or any other guy for that matter, hurts you again, I want you to tell me, I don't care who he is, or how much you love him, you don't deserve to be treated this way. You deserve better, Anna." I said, wiping away the tears from her face.

~End of flashback~

Suddenly, my thoughts were interrupted as I felt my phone buzz from underneath my pillow.

I picked up without looking at the caller id and cleared my throat before speaking into the phone, "Hello?"
"Harry! It's Austin." A very familiar voice spoke.
"Hey man, what's up?"
"Lad, there's a party at my place next weekend before school starts, and there's also a surprise for you, tell everyone you know and bring 'em along."
"Alright, thanks man, see ya."
"See ya."

Dang, I can't miss Austin's party, he's a good friend. I guess the dinner plans with the boys, Anna and Winnie will just have to be pushed forward to next weekend, I hope the boys aren't busy.

I should let Georgie know.

To *Georgiee<3* : Hey babe. I need to talk to you.

From *Georgiee<3* : Heyy, what's up?

To *Georgiee<3* : Austin's having a party at his place next weekend, we're gonna have to delay the dinner plans that the boys, Anna, Winnie, you and I had. Plus, Niall has a party at his friend's place the day after we'd made plans for, so we're gonna have to reschedule the dinner to the weekend after that.

From *Georgiee<3* : Oh, I'll ask the girls if they have any plans next weekend, and also ask them to ask Liam and Niall the same, you ask Lou and Zayn.

To *Georgiee<3* : Alright. I really wanted to do this this coming weekend, babe.

From *Georgiee<3* : It's okay, Harr. We can do it the weekend after that, cheer up.xxx

To *Georgiee<3* : Okay, thanks babe, see you later?<3

From *Georgiee<3* : Yes, I'll see you later<3

I put my phone away and decided to go downstairs and start making breakfast, Lou said he was gonna be here in an hour, and I haven't even gotten out of my room, crap.

~2 hours later~

I was just about to call Lou to check on him, when I heard my doorbell ring.

I saw two familiar faces as I opened the door.

"Surprise! VAS HAPPENIN'?!" Zayn yelled, throwing his arms around me. "Woah, hey Zaynie! This is a surprise." I exclaimed, hugging him. "Expect the unexpected." Zayn said, grinning, as he pulled away.

"No hi for me? Oh, I see how it is." Lou folded his arms and pouted. "Yes, no hi for you, Lou. I was gonna give you a teddy bear hug instead, but I guess you don't want it." I replied, smirking. "Really? I'm sorry, Haz. I love you!" he said, jumping onto me.

As we pulled away, the three of us decided to go into the dining room to have breakfast.

*Anna's P.O.V.*

I was sat on my bed, pulling off the various tiny scabs scattered on my arms, God knows when and how I even got most of these cuts.

As I was intently pulling the scabs off of my skin, my task was interrupted by my ringtone.

Just give me a reason,
Just a little bit's enough,
Just a second we're not broken just bent,
And we can learn to love again.
It's in the stars,
It's been written in the scars on our hearts,
We're not broken just bent,
And we can learn to love again.

As much as I loved this song, Liam was calling, so I had to pick up, immediately.

"Hey, LiLi."
"Annabear! Hey, I'm free next weekend, so I'm in."
"Yay! That's great."
"Mhm, so, how are you?"
"I'm fine. Why?"
"Anna, I know when something's wrong. You can trust me. I haven't told a soul about what you told me last week."
"I know, it's just, everyone seems so distant. Especially Harry. We're not even gonna be in the same class this year. Plus, I'm feeling insecure about myself again, so I've decided to sign up for two sports this year to get back in shape."
"Look outside your window."
"Um, sorry, was the line unclear?"
"No, just look outside your window, love."

I did as he said and walked towards my window. To my surprise, I found Liam standing there, smiling like a goof.

I quickly ran downstairs and opened the front door to find him standing before me, in all his glory.

"Liam!" I squeeled, putting my arms around him and holding him tight. I felt his chest vibrate as he chuckled. Shivers ran down my spine as he put his arms around me and held me closer.

We stood there, in each others arms for what seemed like ages before he pulled away, and looked me in the eyes before he said, "You're beautiful, Anna."

I blushed and looked down at the ground as he said that and prayed that he wouldn't lift my chin up.

Unfortunately, he did.

"Don't hide from the truth, love." he whispered. He was so flawless, that he made me melt. I felt like puddy in his hands and honestly, I almost believed the words he'd said just a few seconds ago.

I bit my lip as he stared at me intently. There was a comfortable silence between us. Nothing about this situation was awkward.

"Let's go the park, and talk, we'll go to Harry's after that." he suggested. "Alright, let me just go and-" I started, before he cut me off, "Nu uh, no make up, and your clothes are fine. Let's go, Annabear!" he said, pulling me out of my house.

We walked to the park in silence. It was a comfortable silence like always, though.

Soon enough we were at the park, sitting on a bench.

"Tell me what's really going on, Anna." Liam said, looking me in the eyes. I just looked at my feet, without saying anything.

"C'mon, Anna. Just tell me, I can help you." he said, pulling my chin up for the second time today. "I-I don't know, Liam." I said, tears forming in my eyes. "Hey, hey, don't cry, love. Just calm down, and tell me, don't worry about a thing. I'm here for you." he said soothingly. "I can't take this anymore, Liam. I can't." I whimpered, exposing my arms and beginning to cry. "Why'd you do it again, Anna?" he asked, pulling me into his arms. "It was too m-much." I cried into his chest. "Please love, this hurts me just as much as it hurts you." he said. "B-but, it m-made m-me feel b-better." I said in between sobs. "Promise me that you won't do it again, love. Please, just call me and cry on the phone instead." he pleaded. "N-no, don't d-do this to m-me, Li." I cried as my sobs got more violent.

He ignored what I said as he rubbed my back and kissed my hair, attempting to calm me down.

It worked though, after about 15 minutes, I was finally not crying anymore, his shirt had tried off, and we were on our way to Harry's.

"You're beautiful, and I'm gonna remind you of that every single day if I have to." Liam said, out of the blue. "Why do you care so much about me? I mean, clearly, nobody else does." I said, looking at him. "Don't say that, love. There're a lot of people who care about you, and you deserve that, because you're amazing, just the way you are. So don't ever change." he replied, putting a small genuine smile upon my face.

As we reached Harry's place and rung his doorbell, we were immediately greeted by a worried looking Harry, who directly looked at me before saying, "He's here."

I knew exactly what he meant.

Conor.
