All It Took Was One Look

Vanessa is a seventeen year old average girl. She doesn't get noticed much in school, and is always out looking at the wonders of her home town London England. As she's wandering about late at night she runs into a guy that changes her life forever.

1. Mysterious Grandson

I was sitting on the park bench reading my book, not knowing anything that's going on around me. I didn't talk to many people, I was never noticed. All I did was focus on what college I'm going to and how I'm going to be successful in my dream job, working in the Google Headquarters. It was a far fetched dream, but I'm a computer wizard and was in the top of my class.

"Excuse me young lady," an old lady said to me with her strong British accent, as she tapped my shoulder.

It sounded more of a royal British then a casual one we hear around here.

"Yes?" I asked, placing my bookmark in my book and shutting it.

"May you please take a picture of me and my family?" she asked, handing me her fancy digital camera.

"Um, of course," I said, as I got up, following the woman.

She had her husband, as long with some small girl that looked like she was around eleven or twelve.

They all got in position as I started getting the camera ready to snap a picture.

"Wait hang on!" she exclaimed.

That startled me, as I put the camera down.

"We have to wait for my grandson," she huffed, as she looked at the young girl.

"Where is your brother?" she said angrily.

"I dunno," the young girl responded with her strong British accent as well.

"I'm here calm down," I heard a teenager, with my kind of accent call out.

I looked down at the camera, as I saw a teenage boy pose with his family.

I looked up and instantly caught eyes with the boy. His facial expression looked as he was impressed with something. I held the camera up to my face, as I snapped two pictures. The old lady walked back to me, as I handed her, her camera back.

"Thank you lots," she thanked me.

I briefly nodded as I walked back to my copper old bench, as I sat down, and continued reading my book.

"Hello," I heard a voice in front of me say.

I looked up and saw the boy.

"Hi," I said, as I looked back down at my book.

He sat right next to me looking at my book.

"What are you reading?" he asked.

"None of your business," I snapped.

"Woah there," he said, holding his hands up like he got defeated by me, with a little smirk.

"Can I help you with something?" I asked rudely, as I wouldn't look up at him.

"I saw you take that picture of my grandparents, my sister, and I," he said.

"Yeah. So?" I asked.

"Um, I don't know," he stammered.

"You're welcome," I said, as I finally looked up from my book to look up at him.

"What's your name?" he asked me, staring deeply in my eyes.

"I'm camera girl," I chuckled, as I looked back at my book.

I saw the boy look straight ahead of him, as his little sister was running up to him.

"Dev stop talking to the pretty girl! We have to go!" she yelled, as she glanced at me.

"Dev?" I asked.

"I'm Devon, but people call me Dev," he explained to me.

"I never asked," I chuckled.

"Dev lets go!" his sister bugged.

He got up slowly from the bench as he started walking away with his sister, as he glanced back at me, and I gave him a little smirk as I started reading my book again.
