My Bloodsucking Prince

Have you ever walked home feeling like someone was watching you? I did on the day I was kidnapped by Niall and kept captive as him and his friends food source. Vampires, they're all vampires. I'm reunited with my middle school bully and everything changes for the worse. Will I ever be the same again?

22. Chapter 22

There are times in a person’s life when they feel stuck. Stranded in time, nothing going for them in life, the barrier to high or too difficult to conquer, and that’s where I was at. Stuck, here in this bloody house with a bunch of men who did nothing but work and make messes. Sure, they did some things, like buy me whatever I wanted or take me out. But at times I just felt like I was being used. Well, used more than I expected I guess. My heart grew strong for Niall, the way he looked at me had me head over heels. He was perfect in ways I couldn’t even explain. Sometimes I feel like he is going off script. It’s as if he watched so many romantic movies that he repeats everything he hears.

Or maybe I’m just being stupid.

My time at the house has changed me into a new person. The girl that I use to be doesn’t exist anymore. She grew up, matured, took some beatings. Now, she is strong, independent, and doesn’t give up. At age 17 I was ready to move on. I wanted to go home. For the past two years, I feel as if I have morphed into the way of the vampire. The schedules, meal times, cleaning, holidays, all of it. I had grown up physically and mentally.

              This is my home.

I remember my parents vaguely. Crying for them at night, countless hours of tears and screams fill my chest and night terrors fill my dreams with evil. These lasted for only a few months until the boys came in and checked on me. They would shake me violently, tell me that I had been screaming to the top of my lungs. One night Niall just held me in his arms while I screamed and cried about my mother and father. How I missed them and the rest of my old life. I cursed him, telling him that he ruined my life and I hated him. But all he would do is hold me tight, lay with me until I fell asleep. I woke up to him sitting at the end of the bed, eyes open. He had been watching me, sleepy blue eyes and pink soft lips kissing me on the forehead.

I had fallen in deep and utter love with him, but he would never find out.

Tonight was Malcolm’s last football game and he’s been begging me to come watch. It was senior night. He and his favorite teacher walk down the field as someone on the intercom told everyone about his hopes and dreams after graduation. I wanted to go, he meant a lot to me. After weeks of pleading and planning, I could go.

“As long as you go with his mother. No running off you got it?” Louis added.

              “I promise I won’t!” I reassured him.

              “Good. Just be safe.”

That night I wore a heavy sweater and jeans with off brand eggs to the game. Malcolm’s mom told us that it would be a bit chilly so she suggested bringing a blanket. I grabbed an old quilt out and off we were to the game. Half-time they announced the seniors. Something about his sweaty hair ruffled all over his head made my heart flutter. Malcolm sisters threw popcorn all over the place in celebration. After the game, everyone cheered for the victory! Football players gathered in a huddle, covered in mud and sweet.

“Hey Lauren, I think that I’m going to head home with the girls. Would you mind getting a ride with Malcolm? He has the jeep.”

I smiled and shook my head. “It’s no problem at all. I would be glad to wait for him.”

She sighed in relief. “Thank you. Come on girls.

About five minutes later Malcolm came out, face dripping with sweat and his red jersey stained with mud and grass. Exhaustion swarmed his face as he looked around for anyone recognizable. He didn’t notice me at first, but when we locked eyes he smiled and run over to me.

“Lauren! I’m so glad you could make it!”

“Well of course, I wouldn’t miss it for the world!” I punched him in the arm.

              “Where’s mom?” he asked.

“She left. Your sisters were getting grumpy so she took them home to bed. She told me to get a ride with you.”

He smiled, oh what a smile he had. Perfectly straight teeth. This was the moment when I realized that he too had grown up. Looking more like a man day after day. He took me in with his voice, deep and raspy. Shoulder growing broader, chest growing bigger. I started to see him more than brother.

“Sounds good to me. You want to go get a burger at the diner? A bunch of us are heading up there soon.”

I nodded. “Oh yeah, I could totally go for a burger right now.”

“Cool. I’ll let the guys know.” He walked away but then he paused. “Actually, we will just meet them there. Let’s go. “

We walked to the jeep, duffel bag on my shoulders. We opened the trunk and threw all his padding in the laundry bag. He started pulling off his jersey and padding.

“Can you help me take this stuff off?” he asked me.

We slipped off his shoulder padding, exposing his sunken in collar bones and ripped back muscles. My breath shortened, sweat dripping down his back, arms buff and abs defined. He was utterly handsome. Too much to handle, I tear my eyes away. Niall wouldn’t be happy if he says my googly eyes for Malcolm. But who cared? We were just friends.

“Like what you see?” He chuckled.

My eyes peeled off and onto the ground. Was I staring?

“Um, I was just trying to figure out how to put this… thing away.” I blushed.

              “I’m just joking. Let’s go.”

We arrived at the diner and sat down at a booth full of football players. The room smelled of sweat and pancakes, roaring voices of laughter and man filled my ears. I ordered a burger and chocolate milk while Malcolm ordered 3 burgers and a coke.

              “Goodness, eat much?” I teased.

He shrugged. “What can I say? I’m a hungry guy.”

“Hey Malcolm, why don’t you introduce us to your girlfriend.” Said one of the players.

We both laughed and shook out heads. “We aren’t dating.” I corrected him.

              “This is my neighbor Lauren.”

Then mole guy interrupted. “Oh yeah! I met you at the gym.”

I nodded my head. Boy, when is my burger going to be here.

At that moment, the door opened and Garrett walks in with a girl hung around his waist. All the guys cheer and call him over. They sit down with us and talk to the guys for a bit. I recognized the girl from the Christmas party. Malcolm didn’t look too happy, she looked uncomfortable. Something happened between them, that was obvious. Garrett’s eyes finally meet mine and he grins like a tool.

“Hey Lauren, how’s it going?” he winks.

“Good. How have you been?” I smile.

              He nods. “It’s been good.”

Malcolm shoves his burger in his mouth. Him and the girl have been staring at each other for quite some time now. The rest of the night was great, full of good laughs and food. I prayed for the meal at the baby blue bar and walked to the Jeep. I look through the glass windows and see the girl and Malcolm talking.

“Hey Lauren, where you going?” Garrett calls out.

I turn around to see him inches away from my face, hand above my head.

“You look so pretty tonight. I could just kiss you.”

I crinkled my eyebrows, “Isn’t your girlfriend inside?”

He shook his head. “I’m a single man sweet heart. Just as I like it.”

“Why do you like being single? You can any girl you want.”

“If that’s so true then, why don’t you let me take you out sometime?”

I laughed. “You definitely don’t want to take me on a date.”

“And why do you think that?”

“Because guys like you don’t go for girls like me.”

He was inches away from my face, hot breath crawled over my skin.

              “Crazier things happen Lauren.”

“I’m sorry but I can’t go on date with you.”

He rolled his eyes. “And why not?”

              “Because I don’t want to. I’m a busy person.” I lied.

“I think I can change your mind.”

I slowly scooted over to the passenger door.

              “That’s okay, I uh… No thanks.”

Before he could kiss me, Malcolm and the girl came out of the diner laughing. Garrett backed up and winked.

              “I’ll call you.”

“Oh, no you won’t.” I whispered.

Malcolm took me home and thanked me again for coming to watch him. The clock read 12:45 and I knew that I was in trouble. The kitchen light was on, my stomach sank. I walked in and set my purse down on the table. Niall leaned against the counter, arms crossed with a look that could kill.

“Where were you?” his voice boomed.

              “Out? Until midnight?”

I shrugged. “I lost track of time.”

              “Who were you with?”

“Malcolm. We went to the diner after the game with a few of his friends.”

His eyes grew black with edge.

“Oh really now? Why do I smell a different boy on you then?”

My smart mouth was going to get me in trouble, but I didn’t care.

              “I’m sorry I’m late.”

He walked closer to me, eyes black as coal. “You had me worried sick.”

I rolled my eyes. “I’m not four years old, I am seventeen. They hang out with their friends.”

              “But not past midnight!”

“Actually, yes they do stay out past midnight. Malcolm doesn’t even have a curfew.”

My blood pumped with fury. “You never let me do anything!” I screamed. “Did you ever think that maybe for once in years that I liked being out of this bloody house! Surrounded by normal people, people that don’t want to suck my blood or make me clean constantly! Huh! I don’t even know why you care so much.”

He huffed his voice. “I am angry because I care. I care because you are a part of this family. If anything happened to you, I don’t know what would happen to us. You mean a lot to everyone here, including me. “

“Malcolm wouldn’t have let anything happen to me. He is protecting of me and you know that he wouldn’t anyone put a hand on me.”I just wanted to be a normal teenager for once, Niall.”

“I understand, but with being a normal teenager comes discipline. I’m sorry but you’re grounded.”

“You can’t do this to me!”

He grabbed a glass and threw it against the door. I grab my own glass and throw it on the floor.

I grab the island chairs and throw them to the floor with anger. I knock over all the dirty glasses laying on the island. I scream bloody murder into his face.

“You better stop yelling or someone is going to call the police officers.” He yelled.

“Good! I’ll tell them about how you kidnapped me! Lock you all up in the prison, where you belong.”

“Now stop this Gabriele, you are getting out of hand.” He grabbed my shoulder.

“Get the hell off me!” I shove away. “Don’t touch me!”

I turn and run upstairs, ragging full of anger. I get to my room and there is a person laying in my bed.

“Who the hell is in my bed!” I scream.

A body moves and sit up, revealing poufy blob.

“Bailey get the hell out of my room!” I scream.

Harry runs in from his bedroom and slams me into the walls.

“What the hell is your problem! Do not yell at my girlfriend.”

“Get her the hell out of my room! This isn’t a community center. You know what, forget it. I am sleeping somewhere else. But she better be gone by tomorrow.”

I grabbed him and shoved him out of the way. There was something I had wanted to do for a long time. In his room was a photo frame of him and his girlfriend, all smiles and complete bull shit. I grabbed it and slammed it against the wall. The pieces’ shatter all over his bed sheets. I grab his lamp and do the same. In his bathroom, I throw his blow drier and his towels in the bathtub and turn on the water. He ran into his room screaming and cursing me. Picking up his tooth brush holder, I throw it at the mirror and leave before the glass could cut me. He stood in shock and tried to get a hold of me but I grab the chair and bash it into his side. It slips through his fingers and down to the floor he goes. I throw the pieces on him, throw my purse on the bed and leave. Downstairs Niall is on the phone with someone. I didn’t care. I decide to spare the Livingroom and just leave the house.

“Where do you think, you’re going!” Niall screamed.

              “Anywhere but here!”

Down the steps, I go and I walk. I hear Niall running after me but I slip away too quickly. He doesn’t leave the property. I start running. The moon light and the street lights are the only things to show my path. Past Malcolm’s house and out of the neighborhood I go. I just run and run, tears pouring down my eyes. Something tells me I should have done this a long time ago.
