One. Good. Mistake. *Zayn Malik Love*

Figuring out she had a one-night stand with Zayn Malik, a band member of One Direction, Charlie is then told she must go on tour with the band for her magazine internship.
But Zayn doesn't make it easy for Charlie to forget that night or him, no matter what Charlie does.

14. ::Chapter Fourteen::

When I opened my eyes I was a bit surprised to not myself in the boys room, since…well, I’m pretty sure I passed out in their room after talking with Rae all night. Instead I was back in my room that I shared with Lou and she was currently getting ready to go out.

“Hey Lou, how did I get here?” I asked her, my voice hoarse, my throat terribly dry and scratchy.

Lou jumped, startled to hear my voice, “Oh, yes, Liam brought you back once he found you curled up on his bed after your interview with Louis.”

I sat up and stretched my limbs, my muscles sore all over and rubbed my eyes. I slowly got off the bed, walking to the bathroom like I was a zombie, and turned the bathroom light on.

“So Lou, where are you going?” I asked, my voice echoing in the bathroom, peeking my head out.

She fixed herself in the mirror before looking at me, “Out, got to get some hair products for the opening act of the tour, why?”

I shrugged my shoulders and fell back into the bed, “Don’t you have to take care of Lux?”

Lou look surprised by the question, “I thought you didn’t know anything about the One Direction family, how do you know about my daughter?”

“You make me so sound like I’m a terrible person and I know about your daughter because when I was interviewing Louis last night, he mentioned her,” I answered back, grinning proudly that I was finally getting to know these people. “Where is she now?”

“Oh, Zayn and Niall are taking care of her in their room.” Lou smiled. “But I have to go now if I want to fit in lunch.”

“You have plenty of time, Lou, it’s like only seven in the morning,” I complained, hating that I woke up so early.

I could hear Lou laughing and sat up again, glaring at her, asking, “What?”

She shook her head, pointing at the alarm clock besides the bed I slept in, “No, no it isn’t, Charlie.”

I heard the door close as she left and glanced at the clock. My eyes widened. I had slept up to noon….I’ve never done that before. Only because the internship required an hour drive so I had to wake up another hour before then which would be at five in the morning.

This tour was grueling and it was killing me. I knew the only thing I had to do was write for the magazine, and so far I had only the article for Louis, but apparently if you’re going along for free on the tour, you have to do something to stay.

I rolled off the bed, landing on the hard floor below, hoping it would wake me up. It did and I quickly went back into the bathroom and took a long, hot shower, before coming out and deciding it’d be time to start working on Niall’s article.

Texting Lou and asking for Niall’s room number, about ten minutes later, I was up another floor and at the end of the hallway, knocking on Niall’s room.

The door slowly opened a tiny smidge and Niall poked his head out, surprised to see me standing outside of his room. Since I had been here, I had managed to talk to all of One Direction, except Niall here so he probably didn’t recognize me.

“Yes?” He asked, the simple word yes sounding somehow, so much more attractive with an Irish accent. “Who are you?”

“Oh, sorry,” I reached up to my head and removed my beanie, letting my red hair show. “I’m Charlie, the writer for the London magazine.”

“Oh, hey,” Niall greeted me, opening the door wider, letting me shake his hand and then inviting me in. “Sorry, I didn’t recognize you, we haven’t really talked.”

“No, no, it’s my fault. Plus, you couldn’t even see my hair, which would be the only thing that makes me stand out to anyone,” I smile genuinely at him. “So where’s Lux?”

I looked around the empty room, seeing no Lux or Zayn, but I didn’t really know what Lux looked like. Last night, I initially thought she was a teenager, but when I mentioned that to Louis, he nearly choked on his water.

“Zayn took her down to the pool, said he would be back in like ten minutes,” Niall informed me, clearing the beds for us to sit down on.

One bed was terribly messily while the other was quite neat, like it hadn’t been touched last night by whomever’s it belonged to.

“Sorry, my bed is a mess, I don’t get how Zayn can keep his clean, should’ve seen us at the X Factor house three years ago.” Niall laughed at the memory, picking up more of his clothes and tossing them to the ground.

I smiled politely before sitting down on Niall’s bed with him. He laid down, his arms folded under his head as he thought. I knew he knew what I needed from, since I had asked Louis to pass along the information.

“One moment I wouldn’t change for anything or ever regret would be…the moment we were told that we had gotten third place in the competition,” Niall finally said and I was a little surprised at first by his choice. “Of course, winning would’ve been beyond killer but who knows what would’ve happened with the band if we hadn’t gotten third. Everything that happened started off with us winning third place.”

I understood what he meant. You could always wonder what happened if something certain didn’t happen, wonder if you would still be in the same place you are in at the moment, but you would never know. You’d have to accept that things happened the way they did because it might not have happened any other way.

“Charlie?” Niall poked me in the arm, because I had been silent for so long.

“Ah, what? Yes, yeah, I understand, I like that,” I told him, writing down the key things I had heard him say in that little moment. “Okay, the little details for your page. Hm, let me see,” I held up a finger, leafing through my notes. “Okay, Niall, the song that would be the soundtrack to your life?”

He opened his mouth to answer but at that precise moment, the hotel door opened, and a little girl came running in on her little toddler legs. She saw Niall and ran straight to him and he scooped her up gently.

“Eh, Lux, you cutie,” Niall laughed. “Don’t run so fast, your mum would kill us.”

Lux giggled, probably not understanding what Niall meant and then noticed I was sitting next to him.

I smiled at her, then saw a figure step out of the shadows, and looked away. Zayn didn’t look too happy to see me here but said nothing as he walked over to his bed.

“Niall, I’m going to hit the showers, watch Lux?” He asked his mate, walking over to their much better shower, waiting for his reply.

“Yah, Zayn, we got this,” Niall replied, nodding at me to agree.

“Yes, definitely,” I spoke just as Zayn slammed the bathroom door shut.

I narrowed my eyes, irritated by his attitude, but a little hand grabbed at my arm and I focused my attention back on Lux. Niall stood up and handed me Lux. I let her sit on my lap as Niall organized his side of the room but stopped only ten minutes later when his phone rang.

He answered, “Yeah, Harry?”

I played with Lux as Niall continued his conversation with Harry in the hallway. Lux is the most adorable toddler I’ve ever seen. She quickly, though I guess tired from the visit to the pool, fell asleep on my lap, her head resting against my stomach, her thin soft hair tickling my arm as I shifted a little to make myself more comfortable.

I’ll be honest. I am not the biggest fan of little kids. Never have been but if I had to have a little kid fall asleep on me, Lux would be the only exception.
