Niall Horan is the most popular boy in Westfield High School. When the new girl, Macie McCoy, arrives, Niall's view on girls completely changes. Will Macie let him into his life? Or will she just shun him out like every other guy that tried hooking up with her? This may seem like the cliché bad boy story, but let me tell you. It's not.

11. Chapter 11

Niall's POV

The bell to end the last class of the day and dismiss us finally rang!

I headed over to where Macie's locker was so we could walk back to my car and head home.

"Hey, gorgeous," I cooed in her ear from behind, wrapping my arms around her petite waist. "Hey, handsome," she replied, turning around, my arms still on her waist. "How was your day?" I wondered. "It was alright. I saw this guy threatening this kid today," she winked, I rolled my eyes slightly. She continued, "but I forgive him. What about you?" "It was okay, better now," I informed, leaning down to kiss her forehead. "You ready?" "Yeah."

Macie and I walked towards the parking lot to my car, hand in hand. When we got to the side doors, there was a lovely surprise. "Niall, it's pouring!" "Mace, come here." I unzipped my hoodie and wrapped half of it over her to try and keep her dry. "Ready?" She looked up at me, "mhm." I opened the door and we ran straight to the car. A clap of thunder roared as Macie let out a small squeal. "It's okay, baby."

Macie's POV

Niall and I finally arrived at his car. He led me to the passengers side opening the door for me as usual, him running to the other side. He practically opened the door and sat in his seat within like 5 seconds.

We sat in silence for a bit trying to warm up a bit form the cold rain.

I sat in the passenger seat shaking like a leaf. I was freezing. I rubbed my hands up and down my arms to try and warm me up.

"Mace, are you cold?" "Y-yes." Niall reached over and grabbed my small hands in his large ones. He left a small opening between his thumbs as he blew warm air into it, warming my hands.

This moment was perfect.

"How about some coffee, yeah?" My lips formed into a genuine smile. "I'll take that as a yes." We both laughed as he started the car and pulled out of the parking lot.

"How did you know I like Starbucks?" "What girl doesn't?" He chuckled. True, I thought.

We walked over to the cash register. "Uhmm, I'll have a caffe mocha please," I told the lady, grabbing my wallet from my bag. "No, I got it," Niall whispered. "I'll have an espresso con panna, please." Niall handed the cashier the total and we walked over to the counter where we collect our drinks.

"Caffe mocha and an espresso con panna," one of the workers shouted. Niall grabbed our drinks, "thanks."

"Here you go my, darlin'," he said handing me my drink. "Merci beaucoup," I cooed. "I didn't know you spoke French," he stated as we walked to a table.

I set my coffee down and pulled out a chair, "eh, I took it for awhile in middle school and freshman year. I might start up again in college." "I think you should continue, it sounded sexy," he winked.

Niall and I just sat and talked. Discovered more of the little things about each other. I liked this part of the dating world. I mean, if you shared everything about yourselves right from the start, what's there to talk about when you're together? And, there's none of the little things left to know about, to love the other person more.

"Macie?" Niall cooed.

Niall's POV

I really wanted to tell her about how I discovered that park I took her to on the day we met.

"Macie?" I spoke.

"Remember that park we went to on the day we met?" She nodded her head.

I stared down into the coffee mug, "well the real story behind my discovery of the park has to do with my parents." Macie placed her hand over mine, her thumb stroking the back of it.

"It was the night my parents had gotten into the car crash. After I found out that they had passed...something just came over me. I rode my bike home, since I was 16 then, I didn't have my license yet. I headed straight to the fridge and chugged whatever alcohol was in the fridge. Maybe the Irishman in me came out," I let out a small laugh.

I sat in the waiting room, the upper half of my body propped up by my elbows on my knees, as I twiddled my thumbs staring at the floor. I hope they were okay.

A sudden view of nurses shoes took over the blank floor.

"Are you Mr. and Mrs. Horan's son?" I slowly nodded my head as I began to sit up.

"We tried everything we could..." No this cannot be happening. Not today. "They're gone." That's it. That's all it took. That one word. "Gone."

I rushed out of the hospital running over to my bike. I rode as fast as I could back home.

I opened the front door, furious. I felt like throwing everything in sight. I stood in the front hallway clenching my fists. The light that was left on in the kitchen caught my eye. I charged over to the fridge and pulled out a majority of the alcohol. I chugged down numerous bottles of the burning liquid. Within no time, I was plastered.

Some of the alcohol finally wore off. I walked to the front door, a bottle of beer still in hand. I just started walking anywhere and everywhere. I lived here long enough to know the town by heart.

A loud thud came from behind me. The sound of little paws padded along the sidewalk, "merrrrow." Oh just a neighborhood cat. The cat brushed up against my leg, meowing for what felt like eternity. It was probably me. I was lonely now.

I stumbled upon the sidewalk, the effects of still being drunk washing over me. The moon illuminated the sky perfectly. The light from it reflecting onto something I have never seen before. A park. I walk over to the set of swings and take a seat on one, finishing my beer.

*weeewooooweeewooooweeweooo* The sound of cop cars was approaching. I quickly threw my bottle of beer behind me, it making a soft thud onto the grass. I begin to panic hoping they don't see me by some odd chance.

The cars quickly rushed by, not noticing me. Relief ran through me. I started feeling sober as I came to realize I'm sitting on a swing at a park. But I was too tired to try and walk back home. I drifted off into a deep slumber.

I began to slowly open my eyes, my head pounding with a wicked ass headache. "What happened?" I mumbled to myself. I stood up from the swing, my hand cradling my pounding head, and began to walk home.

I walked up to the front door, opening it, "Mom? Dad?" No answer. My body quickly started to boil. I had completely forgotten. They're...gone.

I looked up at Macie who seemed as if she was about to cry. "Baby...please don't cry," I whispered. "I'm not it's just...I'm sorry." "It's okay, we should probably get going, ok?" She nodded her head.

We both stood up and pushed in our chairs. Macie walked over and wrapped her arms around my torso. I took my arms wrapping them around her shoulders, hugging her back, kissing the top of her head. We both pulled away from the hug. "C'mon, Mace," I said draping my arm over her shoulder.
