Save Me, Romeo

For the 'inspired by a song' competition.

I do not want to write a description of the story because it would then be too obvious what the song is. If you have read/are reading this story, thank you for taking the time, is all I can say.

I hope you enjoy reading this, as much as I enjoy writing it, and maybe, you could listen to the song if you have worked it out which one it is?

Thank you, again, and wish me luck for the competition! :)

4. Stay Away From Juliet.

He holds me close as we dance together, fingers entwined, and eyes locked permanently onto each other, never wanting to break our precious bond.

The music swoons around me, as Romeo dances with me. He never lets go of my hand, and never loses the focus of his eyes on me. My cheeks blush rose red when I see him looking down at me with gentle eyes. He seems like a kind gentleman, handsome and very honest. This makes me feel warm inside, that I can trust him, and he can trust me.

After one final burst of music from the orchestra, and a final twirl, the dance is over, and Romeo looks down at me again. His warm eyes lock onto mine, and I know that I never want this moment to end.

The moment is pure bliss when I am his centre of attention, and he is mine.

Finally, after what seems like a lifetime, he lifts up my left hand, and kisses it softly. He then drops it gently and looks at me once again.

Thank you for the dance, Juliet, I shall remember it always." he says, and then releases both of my hands from his.

I am mesmerised.

Even though we have only known each other for a couple of minutes, I feel as if I know him by heart.

I am love struck.

He then tucks a strand of loose hair that had fallen out of my tiara back behind my ear, gently stroking it in the process. He leans forward discreetly and whispers in my ear.

"Meet me in the garden tomorrow night at 10 o'clock. Do not tell anyone about this meeting." he whispers, and with the final word, he bows to me goodbye, and before I have the chance to curtsey, he has already made his way back through the crowds, disappearing rapidly.

I think I may just have fallen in love with Romeo.

Realising that I must speak to him before this night ends, I make my own way towards him. I cannot wait until tomorrow night to talk to him.   I squeeze through the groups of people, nodding and smiling along the way, and holding my dress so that I can walk, I am just in range to see Romeo, but before I reach him, I see Father making his way towards him too.

I panic, not knowing what to do next.

I decide to wait and hide behind the great grand piano beside me.

ven though I am a distance away from Father and Romeo, I am still able to hear their voices, and I eavesdrop on the conversation, despite knowing that it is wrong.

"Stay away from Juliet." Father orders Romeo, clearly very serious. He does not seem pleased.  Romeo says nothing, but continues listening to what Father has to say about our relationship.

"You are not permitted to be anywhere near my daughter. Stay away from her." he says again, and makes it very clear of what he wants and does not want.

Stay away from me? I am shocked that Father confronted Romeo in such a way. All of a sudden, I have a mixed range of feelings. I want to obey Father, but I cannot simply forget about Romeo.
