6. Universe in Peril

Tyler's Point of View

I sat on the bed Accalia and I shared and watched as she paced about the room. She was angry at me because I thought becoming the All Powerful One would save the Universe as we knew it.

"Accalia sweetheart, please let me explain my plan to you."

"Don't you sweetheart me!" Accalia screeched. Her eyes flashing pure black. "How can you even consider turning into your father?"

"Accalia, its the matter of life or death, for everyone including you. Its not as if I want to become the most evil man on earth.

"Don't forget the most hated." Accalia sneered. "He kidnapped me! He killed and trapped Echo in the Nether Realm erasing her love and memories for Luna. He controlled me for the better part of two months and he controlled Lycan for two hours. He shared a physic connection with Luna which is stronger than ever. Must I go on?" Accalia finished and as she did so she sat next to me and placed her hand on my naked knee. Her way of letting me know she would always support me no matter what happened.

"I hope you know I will protect you from the Unspeakables when you go to claim your throne." Accalia whispered as she placed her head on my shoulder.

"I count on it." I said. I kissed her lightly on the cheek before she got up to leave. When the attic door closed and I was sure she was gone I lifted the mattress on her side to discover her diary. I opened it with a talon and started to read,

June 23, 2009

Dear Diary,

I had the dream again, about the boy with the fiery eyes. He didn't speak to me as he did the last time. I think I'm falling in love with this boy who says not a word. The dreams aren't dark and scary, they're warm and comforting. They're not like the other dreams with the dragons and wolves fighting. It doesn't even make sense. How do wolves ever expect to defeat a dragon taller and wider than the Empire State building? Those dreams leave me in a cold sweat in the middle of the night. I scare Snow who shares a room with me at the cabin we're staying at. She stays up with me until I calm down though...I don't know what I would do without her or my three other best friends, my birthday buddies. I know you don't have the answers. But it feels nice to write these things down.

                            Love always, Accalia Coal

I looked down at my hands which were shaking with anger. My father had visited her dreams as well. God damn it! He's lied to me all my life, I will choose one of the Unspeakables to be the All Powerful One. I will not abandon Accalia again. I will not let someone hurt her as my father has. I hurled the diary a crossed the room as I thought of the consequences for each scenario, either I become the All Powerful One and allow the powers I despise to control me and lose Accalia forever, or I choose an Unspeakable to be the new All Powerful One and risk being thrown into another war and losing Accalia and my new friends. The choices and consequences were powerfully eye opening and I was stuck in a cross roads.

Accalia's POV

I sat beneath the oak tree in my own back yard. It was my special place really. I couldn't go to the Ridge, that was everyone's place. This oak tree was my place. I was free to be myself here. I heard a noise like a garbage can being knocked over and quickly turned towards the noise, poised to transform.

"Cali its only me." I heard the familiar yet at the moment annoyingly sexy voice of my mate.

"What do you want?" I said sounding more bitchy then usual. "If you came to tell me you chose to become a dragon full time, you can leave now." I said angrily turning away from him. I was holding back the tears waiting for him to leave me.

"Why would I do that? I'm not leaving you again Accalia Coal. You are my mate. I will find an Unspeakable to take my place or hell I'll make one." Tyler looked at me, holding my face in his strong hands forcing me to look into his orange eyes.

"You promise?" I whispered. He didn't say anything at first, then he kissed me. It was the sweetest, most revealing kiss we had ever shared. The only comparison I had was our dream kiss at the masquerade ball. Even then, when we met for the first time and he lifted his mask and I lifted mine, this moment was far better because it guaranteed he wasn't leaving me. He was with me and our pack for better or for worst.

"Promise." He whispered when he broke away. "I love you Accalia Coal." I placed my forehead on his so our noses touched lightly. I looked into his beautifully unique eyes before I whispered,

"I love you too Tyler Harris." I smiled when he kissed me again. He took my breath away and now he wasn't leaving and I was the happiest girl, er wolf in the world. "We should head back before they begin to worry."

"Yes we should. I have to leave tomorrow for the Dragon Realm to secure a heir for the throne of the Dragon Lord."

"Hurry home to me?"

Snow's POV

God, I wouldn't trade places with Tyler if the world depended on it right now. He had to choose between the love of his life, and the universe. Lycan sat nervously next to me, he had watched Accalia storm out of the house, hop into her car and speed off. He tapped his fingers to the beat of the water dripping from the faucet, he knew it annoyed me, but it also calmed him enough to where he could hold a normal, civilized conversation. It was a compromise I was willing to make to pass the time until we heard the news. Luna and Echo had disappeared once again. This time with a change of clothing. Ick. I was fine with them being gay but must they flaunt it? We did have better things to do then have sex twenty four seven.

In their defense darling, Echo lost all memory of their love and past encounters. Its only natural.

I heard Lycan in my head. Ever since we made it official that we were mates, bonded forever. We could talk telepathically without transforming. It annoyed the heck out of our friends, and sometimes me, when I was thinking private thoughts. But it came in handy as well. Like when we were both thinking of our rendezvous up on the Ridge. I got shivers each time I thought of it. I looked over at Lycan and he was thinking of that night as well, without reading his mind I could tell because of the glossy look in his eyes.

I heard the door slam open and then shut...Tyler left, why the hell was he mad for? I rolled my eyes and waited for them, starting to worry as the hours ticked by.

Finally after what seemed like days, the two of them walked into the living room hand in hand smiling like idiots. Accalia and Tyler collapsed onto the recliner and Accalia looked at me and then at Lycan.

"He's staying! He's leaving tomorrow but only to appoint someone as the All Powerful One."

"Oh, well congratulations. Lycan and I have been worried sick! You could have texted one of us to let us know you were okay!" I snapped.

"Sorry Snow." Accalia said, nearly in tears.

"Sorry I'm just exhausted. Grandpa has been going over strategies with me for upcoming battles, and Lena and my mother have been busy planning our Mating Ceremony and they rudely invited me to help. Plus all this homeschooling crap homework. And I'm the Alpha female and the stress is killing me. Now I have to worry about Tyler coming back, and how the hell we're supposed to convince the Supreme Council of Elders to let us have a pack of six."   The kitchen door opened and Luna came in, sat down next to Lycan with a dopey grin on her face.

"What's up?"

"I had a vision of our new Protector." she said slyly.

"Oh, so who is this mysterious Rebecca?" Accalia asked curiously,

"Well it seems that she was once a Guardian, but something horrible happened and they exiled her. She later enrolled in the Protector Academy at Britain. She graduated and she'll be here tomorrow."

"So what does she look like?" Lycan asked.

"Does it matter? She was a Guardian! She was exiled for an unknown crime and your worried what she looks like?" I asked incredulously.  Lycan down at his hands which were balled up into fists. He wasn't angry knowing him for as long as we have, we knew he was embarrassed.

"Well its a question of whether or not we have to pick her up at the airport. I mean how do we know who she is without knowing what her appearance is? She may be traveling as a wolf!"

"Highly doubtful. Animals have to be accompanied by a human on the plane. "

"So when is she coming?"

"Tomorrow, my mother is going to get her. They'll be here around noon." Luna said. "I'm so excited."

"Why? She's going to be telling us what we already know." Accalia said

"Don't tell Echo I said this, but oh my God. She's hot!" Everyone started laughing. Lycan rolled his eyes and held tightly to my hand. We didn't have to worry about her falling in love with me, but her falling in love with Lycan.
