Chapter Fourteen: The Hunt

I sat on my haunches waiting for the competition to commence. To say I was nervous was an understatement. The longer this took, the farther away Zara was. I was going to find her, and I was going to rip her rogue ass apart. The anger radiated off of me in coils; some time ago I had finally given in to my being a Guardian and now I was ready to fight. I saw Snow and Lycan walk onto the Ridge. The Ridge was a huge area of land that served as the base of Wolf Mountain. Nicknamed that by the locals who've heard wolf howls up there from time to time.

Tonight the competition to determine who accompanies Lycan and I to find the traitor Zara will be a top the mountain! Any objections? Good, Wolves of London, Wolves of Manhattan climb to the top.

Snow, we don't know what's up there anymore.

All the more reason to go up, Accalia. Now move.

I ran up the side of the mountain; refusing to feel the burn in my legs. I would be the first wolf on top of Wolf Mountain in thirty years. I pushed myself to go faster. I needed justice for Tyler; she messed with him, and now I would kill her. I passed many wolves and now only Luna stood in my way; Luna was the fastest of us; and possibly the most powerful now that she had the former All Powerful One's blood coursing through her veins. Sorry Lu, I charged forward leaving her in the dust and I finally saw it, the top of the mountain. I reached the flat plateau of the top of the mountain; it was huge it was like a Colosseum. I sat and waited for the others. I heard something; something like a rock being disrupted and I turned; a grey almost silver wolf with a jagged scar a crossed one eye came out of the shadows. Her eyes were the Rogue yellow/red.

Oh good you recognize me. I was hoping that you would.

You bitch; you almost killed Tyler!

Oh woe is me! Too bad he didn't die! Now the All Powerful One is still under his control!

As it should rightfully be! Tyler is the All Powerful One. He always will be and you're just a bitch you wants to see the Natural Order burn!

Maybe so...but you are just an omega; I may be a rogue but I am still an alpha.

But you don't understand; once rogue a Guardian is stripped of their power from killing Unspeakables. You are a beta compared to me.

I didn't think; I lunged towards her, my mouth open; my teeth aimed at her traitorous throat. She dodged left at the last moment. I yelped as I made impact with the stone wall.

Come on now. You can do so much better.

Hey! Leave her alone you foul mouth bitch!

Luna no!

I watched in horror as Luna and Zara began to fight. I got up despite my injuries and ran to protect my friend. Luna couldn't die, but Zara could I sensed Echo and the rest of my pack closing in so I did the only logical thing I jumped onto Zara's back and bit into her neck; distracting her from Luna so Luna could administer the death blow. Zara's final yelps for air echoed off the wind; I got up breathing heavily as the rest of the wolves emerged from the side of the mountain. Luna stood and spit Zara's fur from her mouth. Blood, black and oozing and smelling faintly of brimstone and death coated her once white teeth. Zara was dead. I found Snow looking at us with awe. The two weakest fighters took down a Rogue alone. Now that the battle was over the wound I had received took over my mind. The pain overwhelmed my senses as I collapsed.

Three and a half days later:

"Pierced her lung. Broke her ulna, femur, and humorous."

"Wonder she didn't die. What did you say she did?"

"Fell down the side of Wolf Mountain." I recognized that voice. That was Snow's voice. I felt my eyes flutter open and bright white hospital light surrounded me. "Hey, are you alright?"

"Hmm, considering the doctor's say its a miracle I'm alive; I'm just peachy."

"Good. You did an amazing thing. You protected both packs."

"Luna helped. Where is she anyway?"

"She's with the rest of the pack."

"Oh, and Tyler?"

"He's resting. The poison is out of his system but his trek with Lycan to rid the world of Izra's body hurt his recovery a bit."

"How long have I been out?"

"Three days."

"Three days?"

"Well three in a half."

"Oh. When can I go home?"

"Accalia, I want you to rest. Tyler will be here later. I'll see you soon."

"Where are you going?"

"Luna, Echo, Lycan, and I are going to Russia with the London Pack. We're going to hunt down the Rogues."

"What do you expect the rest of us to do?"

"You, Tyler, and Rebecca are to stay here to protect the Elders and the Council. That is an order; if you try to follow us I will personally rip your wolf from your body-is that understood?"

"Yes Snow."

"Good. Now rest and recover. I will send word when you can join us."

"Alright. Go."

"Get better. I cannot lose you-losing Echo even temporarily was enough for one lifetime." Tears sprouted in her ever changing eyes before she blinked them away. "I love you like you were my sister. If anything were to happen to you...or anyone in my pack I don't know what I would do. So get better and listen for my call."

"Alright. I don't know what I'd do if anything happened to you or anyone else. Be careful."

"Care is my middle name."

"I thought it was-"

"Its a figure of speech. Anyway the flight leaves in an hour and I promised Lycan I would be there early."

"Okay, go catch your flight." Snow left and I was left alone in the too white hospital room. I knew I was already healed so I don't why I was in a human hospital.

"Why isn't she waking up?" I asked for the billionth time that day.

"Tyler I don't know why she isn't waking up. Usually injuries such as these are already healed. She must've hit her head pretty hard." Snow whispered.

"Why would she go after Zara alone?"

"She didn't, not really. I didn't know Zara would be there. We were having a competition to see who would accompany Lycan and I on the quest to find her. Accalia was the first wolf on the mountain. Zara must've been hiding or waiting up there for us."

"Isn't there magic to help her?"

"I'm afraid not. Head injuries take longer to heal."

"Can she hear us?"

"I don't know. Let her rest Tyler."

"I will. Are you still going to Russia with the others."

"I haven't got a choice. There are whole packs of Rogues out there. Packs that we thought had been killed off by the humans centuries ago."

"What do you want me to do."

"Stay here with Rebecca and Accalia, protect the Council and the Elders. Listen for the call to join us if we need you. The Elders of London have found a way to return Rebecca's wolf to her. Since Izra's wolf was stripped from him before he was killed there's a possibility that the Elders could give that wolf to Rebecca."

"Lovely. So you want me to babysit?"

"Yes, basically. Just make sure they stay safe. You are the alpha while I'm away. Just be careful."

"I will. You have my word. I will protect our family with my life."

"I hope it won't come to that." Snow left the room leaving me with the comatose Accalia.

"Accalia, my sweet angel please come back to me. I need you my darling." I bent my head so it rested on her chest. "Please, I'm begging you." Tears fell from my eyes crashing onto her delicate skin.

"Tyler-we're leaving now." I looked up to find Luna standing there. "She'll wake up. She helps us take down the Alpha Rogue."

"When does she wake?"

"A few days. Are you coming down to say goodbye?"

"No, tell everyone I wish them luck and to be safe. I pass on my love and well wishes."

"Okay. Good bye Tyler."

"Good bye Luna." I watched my niece walk back down the attic steps. Nena and Dianna; gave birth to strong, intelligent beautiful daughters. So compassionate. So talented. "Accalia you return to me soon. I wish it were sooner. The hunt has begun for the rogues. I cannot go because I have to watch over you...and Rebecca and the Council and the Elders." I stood and kissed her lips and went down the steps. I couldn't watch her any longer. I could not cry any more than I already have. My family; my pack stood in the living room saying their goodbyes. Snow saw me and smiled.

"Good luck."

"Be safe." I pulled her into a hug and whispered. "Come home, do you understand? Do not break up this pack."

"I promise you I will return. Everyone will return."

"Then let the dragon's strength be with you."

"Let the Ancestors look over you Uncle."

"Let the Fathers be with you. Be safe." I watched them leave, and as I closed the door I got a wave of what felt like a bad feeling, almost like DeJa Vu. The hunt had alpha, my niece was on her way to Russia to find the Rogue packs and to exterminate them and the threat they had over us...the Guardians. With a pack I did not trust.

"Good luck," I walked up the stairs to the attic slowly. I opened the door and found Accalia awake. Her brown eyes searching the room in confusion. "Accalia."

"Who are you?"
