The child at the station

This is a very sad poem, depicting how an abandoned child is ignored by everyone at a train station and doesn't see a way out.

1. The child at the station

He sits there, waiting

The cold breeze chilling his bones,

His teeth chattering, gyrating,

Feeling sad and all alone,

The child at the station.

Everyday he waits in hope,

His lonely face seeking love,

Wondering how much more he can cope,

Waiting for his saviour, his white dove,

The child at the station.

No family, friends to be found,

The bench his home for now,

10 years old, abandoned in a crowd,

No-one sees him, in the noisy row,

The child at the station.

The last thing he hears,

The trains thundering wheels,

Sure that no-one will shed tears,

His broken heart never healed,

The child at the station.
