I Won't Give Up *IN EDITING*

Falling for your best friend is always tough, but Emily always imagined it to be as perfect as relationships come. Holding hands, long walks on the beach, endless kissing. What she couldn't imagine was her relationship to contain fights, tears and heartbreak.

Will fate allow young Emily Downs to be in the perfect relationship she's always wanted, or take her down a dark twisted road full of cheating, hatred, lies and run aways.

Only time will tell for these two lovebirds.

10. Chapter X

Two weeks passed and so far so good. Everyone was still talking and buzzing about the concert, and although Ashton and I weren’t officially together yet, we certainly are acting as such.

Being in Math class was always boring, I was one of those students who didn’t need to pay attention but still got straight A’s on every exam, so I spent most lessons at the back, on my phone.

Scrolling down my timeline on Twitter and seeing I had reached 10,000 followers made me smile. My follower count had certainly sky rocketed since the stunt Ashton and I pulled at the last concert.

My eyes scanned around my phone, reading several tweets, with the occasional retweet, before I came across a twitter page.

Well that’s hurtful.

Curiosity taking control of my body, I began reading recent tweets posted by the account, and instantly felt my heart shatter into a million pieces.

Close to a hundred tweets had been made by said account, and all were hateful.

My mouth became impossible to form words, as I sat in shock.

I knew I shouldn’t be reading them, but I just couldn’t stop.

That was until I found one tweet.

I read it once.

I read it twice.

I read it so many times I memorised it.

Ashton isn’t asking Emily to be his gf because he doesn’t want to be dating the girl known for sleeping with band members

My body froze.

My heart raced.

My fingers twitched as I fought not to tweet back.

Memories came flooding back, and I shook my head rapidly, wishing they would erase from my mind.

"Please not now." I whispered.

“Emily, are you okay?” Calum asked beside me, but I ignored him.

Not now Calum.

I stood up and walked out of class without saying a word, sneaking by the teacher whose back was faced to my peers, and headed down the hallway.

My chest began aching as I struggled to breathe, tears falling from my eyes as I wandered the halls in search for a watering fountain.

Without any luck, I collapsed against the lockers, pulling my knees up to my chest as I focused on gaining my breath back.

I heard footsteps down the hall that were soft and slow, but rapidly began getting louder and louder as they inched closer to me.

Stopping at my side, they crouched down and pulled me into their chest, where I inhaled an all too familiar scent and tried holding back my tears.

“Who messaged you?” I mumbled against their shirt, not wanting to see his face.

“Calum.” Ashton breathed, holding me closer. “What’s wrong Em?” he sighed, kissing my hair.

I spoke no words, just handed him my phone and listened as he unlocked it, and instantly I felt his body tense beside me.

He handed it back to me a minute later, saying “what are they talking about?”

“I have no idea. Can we just go home?” I asked, more of a rhetorical question than one that required an answer, as I stood up and walked towards the oval, not bothered to see whether he’d follow or not. My body aching and my mind exhausted, I was itching to get home and forget about this.

As I made my way up the narrow street, I heard faint footsteps gaining behind me and soon my fingers were entwined with Ashton’s, but still we both remained silent.

Those people on twitter don’t know what they’re on about.
