6. Chapter VI

As Ashton began the familiar beat on the drums, the rest of the boys began playing their guitars to the tune, and soon the whole crowd sung Lost Boy along with them. Just seeing my best friends' faces light up like that, is enough to make me the happiest person alive.

After playing Green Light, Video 3000 and Good Girls and Bad Girls, It was time for a song off their EP.

Beside You.

As the familiar drum beat began playing, I think everyone knew what song it was. Screams soon filled the room simultaneously.

"I love this song." Maddie whispered beside me. I looked over at her only to see she wasn't looking back at me. Instead her eyes were glued to the stage, where the six foot four blonde haired band member stood.

It was in that moment, I realised what was going on. Wrapping my arm around her waist, we swayed along to the rest of the song, singing on with the crowd.

As they finished up the song, he ran his long, thin fingers through his sweaty  hair, before looking out to the crowd. His eyes frantically scanned the hundreds of heads, until his eyes landed on mine. He grinned widely and waved at me, but obviously the girls behind me thought they were waving at him. Suddenly I heard their screaming in my ears and elbows hitting my head as they franticly try to gain his attention, but all Ashton could do was laugh. I rolled my eyes at him and blew him a kiss.

"I knew it!" Someone poked my side causing me to jump.

"Know what?" I asked Maddie, trying to keep a straight face.

"You love Ashton." She sang.

"I do not." I smiled at her.

"Don't lie to me. It's obvious." She emphasised. Why must she do this now?

"You think so?" I quietly asked.

"See! I knew it! You just confessed!" She sang at the top of her lungs, and all of a sudden she began dancing around in a circle like an idiot.

"I did not. I will only confess when you confess your love for Luke. To. His. Face." I stuck my tongue out at her. She just shrugged her shoulders and faced the front again.

I smiled at myself, knowing I had gotten her to stop talking and shut her up. No way would she confess yet, meaning I won’t have to either.

"Hey Luke!" I heard a familiar voice yell from beside me when the crowd was silent. My head whipped to her direction real fast, knowing exactly what she was going to say next. My jaw had dropped and I stood frozen. Why was she doing this?!

He turned around and scanned the front row to try and see who had called his name. When his eyes met Maddie's, he smiled and so did she. She then cupped her hands around her mouth to create some sort of microphone thing and yelled "I love you Luke Hemmings!" at the top of her lungs, before blowing him a kiss.

I turned to look up at him and it was like he was a complex different person. He stood their frozen. His cheeks were a bright red colour, and his eyes were wider than normal. It was weird. When a fan normally says that, it doesn't mean anything, he would always just wave back at them or something. But not this time. This time is different. He turned to face me as if he wanted to ask me a question. I know it's weird, but sometimes that's how we communicate. That's how close we all are.

I mouthed Maddie's name to him and he smiled widely at me, before handing his guitar to Michael for him to hold. He jumped down off the stage and all the girls pushed forward trying to reach him. It got very squishy very quickly.

One security guard put his arm in front of Luke's body urging him not to go any further, but Luke whispered something in his ear, before walking towards us both.

All that was separating the two now was the barrier. There were guards all around us keeping all the girls away from us three. It was at times, very scary, and this wasn’t the first time. Well for Luke it was, but unfortunately for me, it wasn’t.

He pressed his forehead on hers, as they both looked deeply into each other’s eyes.

My internal voices were screaming. I never knew Luke would do something like this!

"I love you too Maddie." He whispered, before pecking her cheek. She couldn't move. She remained a statue.

He smiled and turned around to jump back on stage, but the security didn't move from behind us. They basically were like a wall. I asked one of them what they were all doing, and he said that it was routine if one of the band members came in contact with a person in the crowd. They feared for our safety because fangirls got a bit crazy.

And I agree with them.

"The next song will be Gotta Get Out." Calum announced.

Maddie tapped my shoulder, which caused me to turn around to her, and she had the biggest smile on her face. I sighed knowing what she was grinning at.

"Well...?" She nudged me, with that same grin still planted on her face.

I can't believe I'm about to do this.
