I Won't Give Up *IN EDITING*

Falling for your best friend is always tough, but Emily always imagined it to be as perfect as relationships come. Holding hands, long walks on the beach, endless kissing. What she couldn't imagine was her relationship to contain fights, tears and heartbreak.

Will fate allow young Emily Downs to be in the perfect relationship she's always wanted, or take her down a dark twisted road full of cheating, hatred, lies and run aways.

Only time will tell for these two lovebirds.

1. Chapter I

“Hey Em, you coming tonight?” Turning around at the sound of that all too familiar voice and seeing Ashton walking towards me made my heart melt. He smiled widely at me as I replied, “Of course! Wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

“Sweet.” Ashton breathed, running his long fingers through his hair before tossing it to the left. I rummaged around my locker and grabbed a hold of my first period book before slamming my locker shut. We made our way towards the classroom simultaneously, dodging the mass crowds of students chattering amongst themselves loudly, too loud might I add, and making a pit stop to grab a drink of water at the nearby fountain.

As we continued our way to English, I couldn’t help but sneak glances at my best friend, noticing his sharp jawline and watching in awe it tense and un tense as he would see someone in the hall he didn’t like. He glanced at me quickly and looked away, only to then do a double take as he realised I was already staring at him, but I turned away and stared straight ahead before he could catch me in the act.

He chuckled under his breath.

We walked the rest of the way in silence, not an awkward silence, but a comfortable one. “Oh yay, English.” I rolled my eyes and Ashton rolled his eyes in agreement before we stepped inside the already quiet classroom, full of seated and obedient students. That is, except for 3 at the back.

Michael, Luke and Calum.

We pulled up our usual chairs and instantly began chatting amongst ourselves about the show tonight.

“Emily, come early tonight yeah? You can hang with us backstage. Get a glimpse of fame.” Calum suggested, throwing a bit of cheek in his end remark which caused him to receive a punch in the shoulder from me.

“Alright I’ll come, but I don’t know about the fame part of it all” I mocked, emphasizing the word fame using my fingers to make bunny ears in front of him.

“I wonder how many people will be there tonight. I’m not expecting that many.” Ashton expressed.

“Don’t be silly. Just think of how many other times you’ve said that and it’s been a full house. You always underestimate yourself Ashton,” I admitted, giving him a reassuring smile as he began drumming his fingers on the desk.

I listened in amazement.

“So, anyone up for skipping the rest of the day and chilling at mine?” Luke questioned, bring me out of my thoughts and nodding in agreement. Luke’s place has always been the one spot we all hung out together the most. It was like a halfway house to us.

The rest of the lesson was just spent reading up on the current chapter in our books, which consisted of many shins being kicked underneath the desks by Michael and Calum, whilst Luke and I actually studied. Ashton seemed to be off with the fairies, so I threw my pen at him and he blinked a couple of times before smiling at me, continuing on with his work.

Once the bell rung we ran out of class like kittens running to their mothers for milk. Hard and fast. We snuck by numerous teachers scanning the halls and made way to the school oval, it being the easiest way to get out without being caught.

Skipping school had become a regular thing for us, something I used to ever think of doing with my old group of friends. Let’s just say, they were geeks. I smiled to myself as I watched my friends in front of me climb over the two metre fence, all in unison.

I mimic their previous actions and follow them over the fence and up the street, watching the dark grey clouds swell in the sky above.
