2. Romeo
By the end of the night, you and I had planned to see one another again. And yet, I didn't even know your name.
You hadn't gone back to your job until just before my gathering had ended. At about 19 years of age, your slim chiseled face glowed along with your big eyes. And the bow-tie you wore matched my dress, just like the rest of the servers.
When we returned to the party, I remember my father immediately scolding you with harsh words. I interrupted by assuring Father that there was no need to shout because you were a friend of mine. He believed me right away and let you go without another word.
You smiled at me then, a warm smile. And found your way out with the rest of the servers.
Father began speaking to me about Romeo, allowing my thoughts of you to snap back. Romeo is the man that I was intended to marry just six weeks after that. I didn't care for him, of course. He was just a bother, really. I was being forced to marry him by my father, who was only in it for money. Romeo's family was very wealthy, and my father, the King, figured that we would be the perfect royal family. I didn't approve at all, but I never got any say as a young girl.
I had only met Romeo once before, and I definitely did not want to marry him. But Father always told me that a correct woman should always obey.
You see, before Mother died, my father was a very peaceful king who treated me well. He was a soft, kindhearted father. Things changed drastically for him after her death. Although, I'd gotten used to his new personality over time. And being disobedient wasn't a choice in my mind.
