8. It had to come... It's STARTING YOUR PERIODS

I know many girls extremely touchy about this subject, especially if they haven't started. But girls - Don't worry!! Your periods normally start from the age 8 - 14. If you're 16, and haven't started yet, I seriously recommend you see a doctor. (No, really. There could be something wrong happening inside you)

Once you start, you're going to need one (Or both) of two options - tampons or towels. If you start when on the go, at school etc, use tissue paper, or, if you feel brave, ask your friends.

Sanitary towels -

Looks and feels like a nappy. To begin with, it'll feel so strange you'll believe everyone can see it. To be brief - they can't. That is, unless you tell them. Boys can be very immature about these sorts of things, so I recommend, especially if you're younger, you don't say something like this to them...

*This is an analogy*

"Ah hey Olly!"

"(Grunts) Saskia"

"Oh my gosh, I know you might think I look really weird but I so can't help it because I'm on my period and oh lord it feels like there's a lake in my pants and -"

*Olly strides away from you, thinking your'e some kind of weirdo, tells all his friends who spread rumors in exactly zilch time at all.*

No. Just no. No one knows your on your period unless you tell them. Obviously, tell your mum if you want to, but if you want to tell your friends, DON'T go into detail and NEVER EVER tell boys - especially if they're crush material, it'll put 'em off you for ever.

You can still do sport in these (apart from swimming, water polo etc) but whatever you do,stay

clear of thongs.

Tampons - Like an absorbent towel, but you stick it up your vagina. (That sounded... Strange) You can get these with or without a string attached. Be wary of using these as they can give you a disease but they're great for swimming and other water sports. It may be against your religion to use these so check first.

Remember, it doesn't matter which you use, its what suits you and your lifestyle. Never make fun of others if they start their period before you, you'll all be in the same boat sooner or later!

There, that's the awkward topic covered - Best wishes xoxo, your new coauthor, Mirlotta
