Military life is the hardest.

Yeah, I'm an Army Brat, and I'm proud of it. The life I have couldn't get any better... Unfortunately, it decided to take a fall, pulling me and everyone I love with it.

"When is mom coming home?" I ask my father, probrably for the millionth time.

"Honey, I told you, she doesn't know, I don't know, I don't even thing the Army knows." He shoves his mouth full of macoroni, what we have been living on for alomost a year now. Well macoroni, spaghetti, pizza, and hotdogs. Not exactly the best diet.

But my problem here was much bigger than what was being digested right now. I looked out the window. My mom was an Officer, in the U.S. Armed Forces. I peeked out the window, but the sight I saw was not what i had planned. I wish i had seen my mom, hopping out of a taxi or maybe an empty street wouldv'e been better, but what i saw immediately sunk my heart. A black SUV, all windows tinted, and three uniformed soildiers stepping out.

"Hell no."

"Watch your language." My father snapped.

"God please. No. No. N-" I started crying. I knew what those cars and uniforms meant. Someone didn't make it, and they were walking towards our house.

My dad wrapped me in his arms, a former soildier himself. He got out to save Mom's career, he wanted to get out anyway.

"What is it Baby?" He cradeled me.

"They're here." I croaked. The doorbell rang and my tears just made a stream down my face, all the way to my shirt, where they were absorbed by the soft cotton. My dad walked to the door, and i could see the fear strike in his eyes. He returned, picked me up and carried me to my room. He didn't need to say a word, I knew exactly what was going on. He just let his tears fall out and held me like he did when I could fit in his palm.
