Eventually, Charlotte wants to live her own life and do things her own way. She becomes romantically involved with the schools bad boy and her whole life is thrown for a loop. Will her life ever be the same?

23. Well Go Get Em'

***A week later, school has started.

 ---[Charlotte's P.O.V]---

I'm not used to a whole lot of American accents in one place. That was my first thought when I got to school on Monday morning. Figured Stone and I would be best friends but I was sadly mistaken. He walked me to the office and then left me to go walk with his girl friend. I was sitting at the bench patiently when a woman asked me why I was there.

"Um I'm new, I need my schedule," I told her. The woman pushed her glasses up to her eyes and started typing away on her computer. "My names Charlotte Rose Tomlinson."

"Yes, oh you're the exchange student right?" The woman says.

"I guess you could say that, I'm not exactly sure how long this will last." I tell her. She prints away something on her computer and then something prints out of her copying machine.

"Come here," The woman says with a sweet smile. I walk up to the glass window and take the slip of paper from the slit in the window. The woman starts babbling endlessly about my teachers and how the school lunches are, and what a remarkable person the principal is. I couldn't take it any more. So I cut her off.

"Excuse me? Could I please talk to my guidance conslour about something in regards to my schedule?" I ask her. She nods her head and points down a hall way.

"First door on the left is Mrs.Mariano." The woman says dismissing me. I walk down the hall way and when I approach the door with the plaque with MRS. MARINO written on it I know I'm at the right place. I knock on her door softly. No answer...I knock again this time a little harder.

"Just a second!" I hear someone call from the other side. I press my ear to the door and I listen.

"Don't worry about it...They only live together....That doesn't really mean anything you know?" The guidance conselour says.

"Yeah I know but. I honestly do see him cheating on me with that...Girl. I hate to sound insecure but...she's really pretty. A lot prettier than me Mrs. Marino. Wait till you see her, she's one of your students right?" The girl asks.

"Yes she is. Now get to class now, someone needs me on the other side of this door. I'm coming!" She calls. I jerk my head away from the door and smooth out my hair on either side. She opens the door with a big smile on her face and the girl standing behind her smiles sweetly in my direction.

"Hi, what's your name?" Mrs. Mariano asks. I clear my throat and strain my voice to sound like the sweetest person she'll ever meet.

"I'm Charlotte Rose," I say. She cocks her eye brow in confusion. I hand her my schedule and she scans it with her eyes. "The exchange student from London." I say.

"Yes! I've been waiting for you. Um, come take a seat in here I'll be with you in one moment." Mrs. Marino says with a smile. She stands outside her office door and says a few more words to the girl. The girl nods her head in understanding and walks away with a quick wave to me. Mrs. Mariano closes her door and sits down at her desk.

"So what do you need?" She asks.

"I don't know if you guys do this here, but would there be any chance that you could a student walk me to all my classes just so I could get familiar with this place?" I ask. She smiles and clicks the mouse  a few times impatiently.

"Okay so your student chaparonge's name is Charlie Schulpelmaver, he has every single class with you. I'm going to call him down in a second but before I do that I must give you some advice..." She looks around her office as if someone would be listening to her or someone else besides me was in the room. Mrs. Mariano drops her voice to a whisper. " Stay away from Stone." She says.

"Why?" I ask. She tucks a piece of hair behind her ear.

"Because...look. That girl that was just in here...well that's his girlfriend, and she'll have you kicked out of the school if she really wanted to...She's done it before trust me." She says.

I let out and obnixious laugh. I slap my knee, "Who's here father? Dean of students or something?" I ask.

"Yes he is, and he's very protective of Wynter." She says.

"If my dad wanted to he could buy this school," I tell her.

"Oh yeah? And who's your father?" She asks testing me. I part my lips and smile.

"I'll give you a hint. At one moment in time he was one of the members of the biggest boy bands in the world. He's worth more than 3 million dollars-" Mrs. Mariano holds up a hand.

"Okay, so maybe your father really can buy this place if he wanted to...that doesn't mean that Mr. Rocher won't make your life here a living hell until he buys the place." Mrs. Mariano says.

"Look Mrs.Mariano, I'm not afraid of him, you, the Queen of England, the President of the United States...especially Wynter. She could get the SWAT team on me and whatever else. I'm not leaving here," I tell her. She looks at me and nods her head and pick up the phone, dials a few numbers and then makes an announcement on the loud speaker.

"Could I please have Charlie Schulpelmaver to the guidance office, Charlie Schulpelmaver down to the guidance office." She hangs up the phone and turns to look at me.

"Charlotte, I wasn't trying to offend you or anything, just be careful," She says. Then there was a knock on her office door. "Come in," Mrs.Mariano calls. The person on the other side of the door opens it. "Charlie!" She says happily as he walks in. I think this boy was probably the cutest thing I've ever seen. I stand up and smile.

"Hi, Charlie, you are showing Charlotte around school today and maybe the rest of the week. You guys have the same schedule. Make her feel like home." Mrs. Mariano says. I walk out her office with Charlie and the door slams shut behind us.

"So where are you from?" Charli asks.

"England." I say blankly. I follow Charlie as we turn down a hallway.

"That's soo cool!" Charlie exclaims. I roll my eyes, American's. I think to myself. "What part are you from?" He asks. Gosh he asks so many questions.

"London," I tell him. As we walk down the halls I look at people. They're all so different here, but not one...looks like Jake. When I got back home last week after going to Lambardies and the first thing I checked, even though I really didn't want to was check my phone. I had at least ten text messages from Jake.

So this is it?

We're just over now?

Fine, have fun fucking that faggot.

I didn't mean that, I'm sorry

Charlotte please answer me

You know I love you right? I didn't mean anything that I said before

Call mr

Call me**

When I call you, you better answer the fucking phone.

I never messaged him back. I was too tired and too busy crying myself to sleep. I really do miss him. I loved him, or at least thought I did, but whatever it is that I did feel towards him it broke my heart for him not to be with me. Not to be able to hear his voice is like a living hell. When he did call me four days after, I didn't answer the phone. I was to afraid that I'd fall back in love with him. I just cannot believe that he cheated on me. I even tried convincing myself that maybe he didn't cheat on me but I know he did. I've been trying so hard to keep my head up but it was so hard.

"I can tell you're kinda having an off day, I won't ask anymore questions just follow me around so you don't get lost." Charlie says as we approach a door. He holds it open for me and I step inside.

"Thanks Charlie. I'm sorry, a bad break up will do it to you. I promise I won't be a total twat all day, but I really do just need some space." I tell him. Charlie smiles and looks down at the ground.

"No, it's fine. We'll get caught up at lunch," Charlie says. As he goes to take his seat on the other side of the room. The teacher walks around and hands out our work. As I scribble my name at the top of the paper, I think of my name tattooed on Jake.

--[Jake's P.O.V]--

I was tempted to give her a ring, but I had too much pride to do that. After I realized that Charlotte was purposely ignoring my calls I just kinda gave up on her. I guess that's what was eventually going to end up happening anyway. The whole thing between Charlotte and I was to good to be true as it was, but even still I just wish she didn't have to leave. I sit up in my bed and wipe the sleep out of my eyes. I look around my room and see Cosmo sitting on the other bed. She lays there awake, staring up at the ceiling.

"Hey," She says not looking at me. Cosmo sighs heavily making the room feel more tense.

"How do you know I'm awake?" I ask flopping to the other side of my bed.

"I wasn't sure but I obviously took a good guess," She says with a hint of laughter in her voice.

:"I miss her Cosmo," I say letting out a shuddering breath.

"I know you do," Cosmo says. Suddenly the last couple of months come rushing back. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was walking her home and laughing with her. It seems like it was just yesterday when she kissed my lips, or made me laugh, or made me smile...Or for once in my life...Made me happy. Made me feel alive. Made me feel like I had a reason to live, as long as I got to see Charlotte the next day. I didn't matter what kind of mood she was in long as she was there.

Up until I met Charlotte, I lived my life fucking different girls left and right. Going to parties, getting fucked up. Drinking, smoking, whole nine yards I was doing it all. Then came Charlotte. The no body. The girl other girls wouldn't get caught dead with. I've always kinda known her too. I never thought much about her though. She was always just kinda there, but there is one memory that's still clear in my mind.

We were in junior high. She was in my sixth grade band class. I played the trumpet, and so did she. She was much better than I was, but anyway. It was her birthday, she came into school and she looked really nice. Her hair was curled and some parts were pulled back into little berets. Her dad and uncles came in that day and sang to her. For like a month, she was the most popular girl in school. But almost as soon as that month was over it was like she vanished from thin air. She quit band, and after that I only ever seen her now and again until Mr. Shower put us in the lab group.

"Go see her," Cosmo says shifting in the other bed. I roll over and look at her.

"It's not that easy Cosmo, she lives across the ocean." I tell her feeling my hands tense.

"Love holds no boundries. If you really loved her, flying across the ocean would be just as easy crossing the street." Cosmo says. Why is she lecturing me on love? She's never been in love with anyone. No one has ever loved her and cared about her.

"Don't tell me what I should be doing in regards to love. You've never been in love," I say defensively.

"So what. It's the truth. I love my parents, I would do anything for them. I'd assume I'd do the same for a lover if not more. Don't you love her Jake? Go to New York and see her then." Cosmo says. I rake my fingers through my hair.

"Okay, come with me then, lets go to the air port, I'm buying a ticket." I say, slugging my jacket over my shoulders.

"Yeah with what money?" Cosmo asks testing me. I dig into my underwear drawer and pull out a wad of cash that I was given from my brother after he died. It was my inheritance. It was only eight thousand, but now was the best time to use it.

"Come on really lets go," I say rushing her. Cosmo slipped on her shoes and we ran out the house together. We jumped into her car, and we pushed the pedal to the medal all the way to the air port. When I parked her car I took a deep breath. I can't believe I'm really doing this. Suddenly my palms get sweaty just thinking about her.

"Well go get her. She's waiting for you."

--[Charlotte's P.O.V]--

I laid on my bed and looked up at the ceiling. Charlie was with me, he was doing my homework. He could tell I wasn't in the mood and he was just kind enough that he'd do it for me. He'd ask me questions now and then but mostly it was just silent. Suddenly there was a knock at my door. "Come in!" I yelled. My bedroom door creeked open. "Who's in here?" I ask.

"It's me...Stone." His voice is comforting and soft to my ears. I was trying really hard to conceal my excitment for hearing from him. It's been awhile. I think I scared him last time with my pathetic suicide attempt.

"Yes." I say, waiting for him to open his mouth again.

"Um...Joy's throwing a party. Anyone can go, figured it'd be a good way for you to meet some people." Stone says. Intrigued I sit up on my bed.

"Yeah when does it start?" I ask. Stone shrugs his shoulders.

"She said she'll be here to pick us up in twenty minuets," Stone says. "You don't have to get all dressed up though." Stone says.

"I wasn't going to," I say.

"Well good. I'm was just saying," Stone says walking out.

"Oooh, you totally like him," Charlie says as soon Stone closes the door behind him.

"No, but he is cute," I admitted.

"Would you ever go for him?" Then my door thrusts open.

"She's here early. Let's go." Stone says. I jump out of my bed and put on shoes.

"Are you coming?" I ask Charlie as he just sits on my bed.

"No." Charlie says. "I think I'm just going to go home." I make a pouting face. I really wish he'd come with me.

"Well...what are you going to do? Go get him."
