30. Own Advice

--[Charlotte's POV]--

I was so lost in my day dream that I practically jumped when the bell rang. I tried shoving my books in my back pack and kids were already filling in all the empty spaces.

"Fuck," I say under my breath as a girl waits for me to move out of her seat. Then all if a sudden someone grabs my books that couldn't fit in my satchel. I look up to see who it is.

"Where are you supposed to be?" Stone asks. We walk out of the room together.

"AP world," I tell him. Stone leads the way as I follow close behind. The bell rings and I immediately feel bad.

"Sorry for making you late," I tell him. Stone shrugs it off.

"It's cool, I'll just get a pass from Becky." Stone says nonchalantly.

"Becky? Whose Becky?" I question. Stone shrugs his shoulders.

"She's the young vice principal. I slept with her in the beginning of the year," Stone says.

"Good one," I say sarcastically.

"Hey you wanna go somewhere?" Stone suggest.

"As long as it's in school than sure," I say knowing those aren't the plans that he had in mind.

"C'mon I'll just blackmail Becky into marking us present," Stone says. I shift on my heels for a moment. That's not really fair but the rest of my classes aren't really that important anyway. "Please?" Stone pleads.

"I swear to god, if I get marked absent you'll hear it from me," I warn.

"I won't have to," Stone says with a grin. "Go wait by the west wings entrance doors." Stone says. I turn to walk away from him but Stone calls my name.

"Yeah?" I ask. Stone walks towards me and cups my cheeks with his hands and kisses my lips. When he pulls away we're both gasping for air.

"Hey," I hear some call. Stone is already half way down the hall way when the girl approaches me. I turn around and my heart sinks when I see Wynter. Her eyes are glossed over with impending tears.

"Ohh..." I sigh. "Look..." Wynter raises her hand and I brace myself for her hand to strike my cheek but it doesn't.

"No you look!" She cries, her pale completion flushes red with her tears. "Why do you half to do this?" Wynter whines pathetically.

"What are you talking about?" I ask her.

"Please don't play dumb with me. He likes you, okay and he's just keeping me around until he gets bored with me." I want to burst into laughter but I stifle it inside. Is this girl stupid or something? Why the hell would someone stick around with someone when they know that they're using them?

"Look that's not my problem," I say going to walk away.

"Can you please just...stop. Leave him alone," Wynter calls.

"It's not me, that you have to worry about," I call back. I'm waiting by the exit for ten minuets when Stone finally meets me.

"Hey," I say. I notice the angry look on his face. "What's wrong with you?" I ask as Stone pushes through the heavy metal doors. I follow close behind him.

"You cannot push on Wynter," Stone scolds.

"What?" I ask confused.

"She suspects something going on between us." Stone says.

"That's not my problem," I tell him. His face grows cold. "I'm not cheating on anyone."

"You really are a heartless bitch aren't you," Stone says.

"Says the one whose cheating on their girlfriend," I spit. Stone pushes me up against the cold stone building. He grabs a fistful of my hair and his other hand is underneath my chin forcing me to look up at him.

"I know you want me," I tell him. The grip that he has on my hair tightens. "Isn't that why you wanted to skip the rest of the day with you?" I ask him. His eyes move away from mine. "Isn't it?" I ask assertivley. I pull Stone's lips to my own and Stone slides his hands down to my hips pulling me in close to him. I wrap my arms around his neck as his arms hold me close to him. When we pull away Stone holds me by my hand and drags me all around New York City until we stop and make a right down an alley. As we start down the alley we start kissing again.

Stopping at an old wooden door, Stone gets the keys from his pocket and unlocks the door. When we walk inside, he locks the door behind us and sits down on the couch. The smell and auto of the place all too familiar. I wasn't going to say anything though, but I was hoping that Stone wouldn't notice the uneasy feeling that has washed over me.

"Dude, I just rented this place out to this guy a few weeks ago for some weed." Stone says taking a joint out of his wallet. He lights it and the smoke fills the air.

"How often does that happen?" I ask faking a laugh as he passed it to me.

"Not very actually. It was weird running into him. He was at the widow tree in Central Park and he asked me if I had a place where he could stay. I asked him how much and that's when he told me the price." Stone say. I almost choke on the smoke in my lungs. He met Jake the day he came to New York.

"You'd just let any random stranger rent this place out ?" I ask. Stone shakes his head.

"Only if price is right. " we both break into contagious laughter, but the only thing I could think of was Jakes body hovering over me that night.

"Well at least he kept the place in good shape." I say.

"Yeah, it wouldn't have mattered if he didn't. This place is decades old and the only reason why he came out to New York in the first place was so he could win over the girl he lost." Stone says admiringly. "Let me tell you, he must've really loved her because plane tickets from Europe to America aren't cheap."

"Whoa, and he came by himself?" I ask.

"Nah, he came with some girl with blue hair," Stone says.

"Cosmo," I blurt out. I wish I could've just snatched the name right back into the air. Stone looks at me his brows forwarded.

"You had sex with Jake the last day he was here." Stone announced. I nod my head and he slams his hand down on the table.

"I did." I say remembering the way his breath felt on my neck.

"Do you love him?" Stone asks.

"I love him but I'm not in love with him," I say.

"Charlotte...he really loves you. He paid a lot of money to come out here to see you. Why would you come here with me then?" Stone asks. I run my hands through my hair and swallow hard.

"There's no hope for us. I was stupid okay. I made a mistake of ever getting involved with him. He's shadow. I know he'd give me the world if he was able too and he can't. We're just not right for each other." I explain.

"Look I know I'm not perfect as far as my relationship goes but Char... You gotta tell him that. It's not fair that you just keep stringing him along. You have to let him go before he gets his heart completely smashed." Stone says. I shake my head and tears start to stain my cheeks.

"I just don't know what... I-" Stone holds up a hand and stops me from talking.

"Stop it Charlotte. No excuses. You have to do what's right." Stone says.

"Don't you think that maybe you should be taking your own advice?"
