36. Over

--[Stone's POV]--

After she was asleep I left her room and made sure that she was covered with her blankets. I walked back downstairs to meet up with everyone. There were more people here now, Harry and Mia included. It had been awhile since I've seen them together again. I know they were always going through rough patches, but now I think that Mia is pregnant with Harry's baby so I guess they're eternally bonded now whether they like it or not.

"Did you manage to calm her down?" Louis asks as I say down on a leather chair in the den.

"I tried...we both ended up screaming at each other though so I left and when I went to check in her she was sleeping," I said hoping that my lie sounded believable enough for everyone.

Louis nodded his head as of to say 'better than nothing' and Brooke just sat there staring out the panoramic windows. I wonder what she was thinking. If she regretted everything she's done to Charlotte, her one and only daughter. "I'd like to go see her," Brooke said finally after minuets of silence.

"I don't think that'd be a good idea," I said to Brooke, she glared at me and it was a look that I knew far too well from Charlotte and sadly she inherited the look from her mother.

"I don't care she's my daughter," Brooke said as she charged up the stairs, to Charlotte's room. Everyone downstairs just in the living room holding their breath waiting for the thunder to crack above our heads.

****

As Brooke arrived to Charlotte's door she hesitated before she knocked on the white door. What was she supposed to say to her? Brooke knew that she was a disappointment to her daughter, but she had to find a way make it up to her, even if Charlotte wouldn't forgive her, she had to let her hear it at least. Finally Brookelynn gathered up the courage and knocked on her daughters door. She knocked three times and she got no answer.

"Charlotte," she said softy creaking the door open. She seen her daughter sprawled out on her white linen sheets. "Honey," she said as she sat down on the bed next to her. Charlotte was sound asleep, her clothes scarred among the floor. Brooke could see that she was sweaty, she knew all too well what had happened before. Brooke smiled and she ran her quivering fingers through her daughter wavy hair.

Looking at Charlotte reminded Brooke of Harry. The way her wavy hair curled around her face and her subtle freckles danced across her nose. She was a spitting imagine of Harry, Brooke's biggest mistake. As Brooke was petting Charlotte's hair Charlotte stirred from her sleep. Brooke snatched her hand away and Charlotte's eyes fluttered open. "Get out."

"Honey, please just hear me out," Brooke pleaded. Charlotte sat up in bed and made sure to cover up her bare chest.

"You've got five minuets," Charlotte said. Brooke cleared her throat, and words began to flow from her mouth like a water faucet.

"I am so sorry Charlotte. Everything was good in the beginning you know? You, me, Louis. I'm so sorry that I fucked everything up. I should've known when I was younger to leave Harry alone. I don't expect you to ever to forgive me but I just want you to know that I'm sorry."

"Would you like a round of applause?" Charlotte snapped. Brooke took in a sharp breath as she starred at her daughter in disbelief. There was really nothing she could do though. She couldn't punish her or yell at her. Brooke's silence for most of Charlotte's life was bad enough. Brooke had so much more to say but couldn't find the courage to let the words flow. Instead she just looked at her daughter.

"Umm...no please...no round of applause," Brooke finally said.

"Okay, fine. Then get out." Charlotte said.

"Just let me talk to you Charlotte. I could never apolagize to you enough to ever make you forgive me. I couldn't help myself from falling off the deep end. It just happened, and I'm sorry for staying quiet for all these years but I'm back now."

"How dare you even say that? You knew exactly what you were doing when you were chasing after a man who wanted absoloutley nothing to do with you. You knew he was drunk when you got into that car with him, and you also knew that he was a married man. He never loved you enough to leave Mia for you so why did you always chase after him? I was never good enough for you mum, and I never will be so stop trying to make up for all of the time you missed out on."

---[Charlotte's POV]---

I was happy when she finally left my room. Always found away to ruin my day. Why can't she ever just leave me alone? There's no use, I spent almost my whole life wishing that my mom would come out of whatever she was in, but she never did, so I just kinda got over it. Suddenly my phone started to ring, and when I seen that it was Jake calling I was reluctant to answer the phone.

"Jake." I said into the phone.

"Charlotte is everything alright? You sound upset." Jake said.

"Everything is fine mostly, but there's something I have to tell you."

"Sure, what is it?" He said.

"I slept with Stone today. I'm really sorry, I just can't be with you anymore. Not when you're in England and I'm in New York." I hung up the phone and pressed it to my chest. Tears started to roll off my cheeks. It's over. It's finally over. The worst thing about breaking up with Jake is that I think I'm okay with it. I'm happy it's over.
