31. Instead

--[Third Person, Brookelynn]--

As she walks out the asylum the humid London air almost takes her breath away. She almost forgot how it tasted in her mouth and how it infiltrated her lungs.

Brookelynn can't even remember the last time she was in sync with everyone else. When she used to rush to and from places, worry about politics, wake in in the morning with a cup of tea, she can't even remember the last time she braided her daughters hair. Everything seems like it was a life time ago.

Brooke tries to think hard to remember her daughter. Brief flashes of her face dance through her head but nothing that she could exactly put her finger on. "Would I even know who she was if she were to pass by?" Brooke asks herself, her voice quivering. Tears roll down her face but Brooke quickly wipes them away. She looks around for him. "Go celebrate Charlotte." She says handing Brooke the money."you deserve it,"

Brooke crinkles the paper and her hand and walks away with it. Right before she enters, she brings the dollar to her mouth and inhales it. She can't even remember the last time she was able to spend money, let alone spend it on alcohol.

When Brooke walked into the liquor store she knew exactly where to go. She had been in here many times before and nothing has changed. She made her way down the malt liquor aisle and picked up a bottle of Jack Daniels. She walked up to the cash register and placed her bottle down.

"Would that be all?" The worker asked shoving her bottle into a brown paper bag.

"Yeah, that's it," Brooke says. The guy hands her change back to her and Brooke walks out the liquor store feeling like a champ. Suddenly the thought of getting drunk sounded more appealing than meeting up with Louis.

At that conclusion, Brooke unscrewed that bottle and took a long swig,
