9. Chapter 8

After Simon had finished up with the business part of the meeting, he had introduced me to the boys saying that we'd see each other quite a lot while I was working with him. It took all my willpower not to fangirl, that's for when I get home! That got me thinking; where exactly is home? Is home here in my flat in London or back in Minnesota? I have been living in Minnesota all my life but I never really thought I belonged there with everyone else. Coming to London has made me think that I was part of something; that I was one of them.

Sure, people questioned my American accent, but that won't be there in a few months or years. That was temporary. And I was still getting used to living in England and hearing everyone talk in an English accent. I still don't get what they're talking about half the time because of the slang; the laws are much different as well. Even though I feel at home, I feel like an outcast. It's not something that's easy getting used to.

The meeting ended sooner than I wanted it to, but I guess that's alright since I'm probably going to see them during the week along with other celebrities. The boys seemed to be relieved though; Simon's meetings are pretty harsh. But I did notice that Liam was a bit upset; he probably had to do something after this. Like taking care of the other boys of One Direction; judging on the interviews, they're crazy.

I actually like my job for once, I got to meet popular celebrities and hang out with Simon Cowell all day. How many people can say that? I think I'm the only person who can say that.

Simon said I could go home after the meeting, claiming that there was nothing important left other than sorting through paperwork. So I called up Clark telling him to gather Connor and Maddy and to meet at my place in an hour. I take a taxi home and decide to clean up the place a little bit, it wasn't the cleanest flat.

I finished in a half an hour which left me about 5 minutes to get changed into a more... suitable outfit. I put on leggings and a white t-shirt that says Love. I situate my hair into a bun and put on my UGGS since it's a bit cold. Just as I finish putting on my left boot, I hear a knocking at my door. I smile to myself, thinking about how lucky I am to be here along with great friends and an amazing job where I get to work with Simon Cowell and One Direction. And I've only been here for about two months.

I open the door to see all three of them; Connor, Clark, and Maddy. Clark and Connor were poking each other for some odd reason while Maddy's eyes were begging for help.

"They've been at this the whole ride here." Maddy says. "You have no clue how lucky I am for you to be here."

"That sounds terrible,"

"Oh trust me, it is." She responds. They walk into the flat soon after, still poking each other.

"Guys! How about we do something else?" I suggest. They immediately stop poking.

"What do you have in mind?" Connor asks.

"I was thinking about that new One Direction game. I picked it up at a shop earlier today," their eyes light up which tells me that they haven't played it yet. I grab it out from under the sofa and start setting it up.

"So how exactly do you play this?" Clark asks.

"How about you read the directions and find out." Maddy responds. Clark grumbles and picks up the small paper that says 'Directions' on it while we laugh at him.

Soon enough, we were in a violent game of One Direction. Connor had to scream like a crazy fan seeing One Direction, Clark had to answer a few questions and do a headstand while saying Liam's name, I had to sing Happy Birthday to Harry, and Maddy was lucky and just had to answer questions.

Except, when we answered questions, everyone else yelled the answer along with you.

Soon after, we finished the game and decided to just lie down and talk about anything and everything. Eventually, I went into the kitchen to get some snacks when I heard the door slam shut. I turn around, startled but relaxed a bit when I saw Clark standing there with a cheeky smile upon his lips.

“Oh my God, you scared the shit out of me!” I say, putting my hand over my racing heart.

“Sorry, I just came to help.” He says stepping towards me. I mutter a ‘thank you’ and continue to stare at him, noticing how attractive he is. Lizzy is a lucky girl. He continues looking into my eyes as he walks towards me until he’s about an inch away and I can feel his breath on my lips.  His hands make their way to my hips as his lips press against mine.

Everything happened in slow motion; my hands making their way to the nape of his neck, his hands gripping my hips, our lips moving in sync. I forget about the world for a minute. He was much taller than me so I had to stand on my tip toes. We pull apart for breath and that’s when I remember Lizzy. Clark has a girlfriend.

“What about Lizzy?”

“Uh, she and I broke up last week. She cheated on me.”

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t be, it wasn’t your fault.” He said smiling at me. I return the smile and tell him that we should probably go back before they suspect something.

We go back into the room with a bowl of crisps in hand, pretending nothing happened.

“What took you two so long?” Maddy asks, raising her eyebrows up and down.

“Spilled the crisps.” I lie. I do the special signal, explaining that I’ll tell her later.

Maddy and I have a secret signal that we invented that shows when we need to talk to one another. It’s noticeable and no one will really suspect anything.

We didn’t really have a chance to get to talk about it until the boys had fallen asleep on the floor. I told her everything with a smile on my face. I didn’t realise how much I liked Clark until our moment in the kitchen. She told me that he never shut up about me, even when he was with Lizzy. It’s weird thinking that someone actually likes me; and that they talk about me. It’s a peculiar thought.

We fell asleep soon after that the conversation. I fell asleep right next to Clark; and when I laid down, he wrapped his arms around me. I smile and closed my eyes. It was a picture perfect moment.

“Connor, you have to take a picture!”

“Sh, I’m working on it!”

Click. Flash.

I’m not too sure if their talking or the flash woke me up first, but when I tried to stand up, Clark tightened his grip on me. I couldn’t help but to blush. I started whispering nonsense in his ear, not caring what Connor and Maddy are saying right now. He eventually woke up and let me just say that he looked adorable! He had bed head and a wrinkly shirt. I giggle as he starts grumbling; I stand up and pull him up along with me.

“IHOP anyone?” I ask, I got a chorus of yes's so we decided to just go in our wrinkly shirts. We walked down the road, causing a ruckus. We sat down at a seat near a window and waited for waiter.

Let’s just say that I felt bad for the other people eating there that morning.

Since it was warm that day, we decided to go to an amusement park and annoy the people there. We’re the slightest bit childish.

We let the boys go home and change, but Maddy and I decided to wear my clothes to gossip more. A girl could never gossip too much.

I changed into a white shirt with the word ‘Love’ on it and pink floral shorts. Maddy is wearing a white shirt with lips on it and beige shorts.

The boys had arrived soon after we finished getting ready. Clark was dressed in an orange shirt, navy sweatshirt, jeans, and black Vans. Connor was sporting a grey t-shirt and jeans. The usual attire of Connor and Clark.

We take yet another taxi to the amusement park. Maddy being Maddy, told the driver to turn on the radio to a local pop station and then continued to duet with me to Everybody Talks by Neon Trees. That was also when they discovered my talent for singing. Maddy was a correspondingly good singer.

My  life actually feels like a movie right now, and I’m liking each bit.
