3. Chapter Two: Welcome to High School

(Liam's POV)

I quickly ran my fingers through my hair before pulling on some jeans and a black shirt. I put on my shoes and walked up to my dresser. I opened the top drawer, and pulled out a small hand gun, and I hid it at the hem of my pants. I took a blade from my drawer as well, putting it in my pocket. I looked at the time, it was almost 7:30.

I grabbed my keys and ran downstairs. I started up my truck, and walked over to Emily's house. I rang the doorbell, and her father answered the door. "Hello." He said, looking me over.

"Hello sir, um I came to take Emily to school today." I said hoping to make a good impression.

"Right here!" She said pushing past her father and grabbing my hand as we ran to my truck. Damn she was hot. I wouldn't doubt it for the world. Her Midnight black hair, curves in all the right places, beautiful jawline, dreamy eyes.

She got into the passengers seat of my truck and I got into the drivers seat. She laughed a little bit as she turned on the radio. "You listening to lovey dovey music?" She said laughing as the song 'I'm not going to write you a love song' came on.

"No." I said laughing and changing the channel. Then country came on.

"Country's the best genre of music."

"Nah." I said, switching it again.

"Hey that was my favorite song!" She said slapping my arm. She turned it back.

"You're very upbeat in the mornings aren't you?" I said laughing at how excited she was.

"I'm a morning person, obviously you're not." Right as she said that, I was already pulling into the school parking lot. I parked my car in the same spot next to Niall's truck. He was standing at the back of his truck with Louis and Zayn probably talking about the gang fight we had this weekend.

We were all in a gang together, and we're enemies with a another gang in the school. I guess that's why we all carry guns and knives around all the time. Emily jumped down out of my truck, and suddenly her mood changed from happy to scared. She walked right next to me as we walked into the school, and everybody was staring at us... or just her.

Then I saw Justin, one of my biggest enemies. He looked at Emily and smiled, giving her a weak wave. Emily gave a weak wave back and looked up at me. Justin looked at me then, and whispered some words I couldn't hear. Ignoring him then, I opened the school door for Emily as we walked inside. The hallways were crowded, but Emily didn't let anybody separate us. "I hate how everybody is staring." She said, not looking at me.

"Let's go get your schedule in the office." She nodded and I grabbed onto her arm pulling her along to the office. Once we were there, I compared my schedule with hers. "We have one class together."

"P.E. Isn't a class."

"Yeah it is, you learn about physical fitness." I said laughing.

"Show me where my classes are at least before the bell rings."

I showed Emily her first 4 classes before the bell rang, but I figured she'd figure it out. She was taking all the honor classes, that I obviously would never make it in. "Hey can I sit with you at lunch."

"Ugh." I scratched the back of my neck. I usually went off campus during lunch, usually my gang and I would go out and talk about fighting strategies, or we'd fight about who's gun was better. "Sure."

"Okay thanks." She bit her lip and smiled before walking off. And I watched her until I couldn't see her anymore.

"Bro's got his eyes on the new chick." I heard Harry say as he elbowed me.

"Yeah maybe it will keep others away then." I said laughing as we both turned around and went to our first class.

(Emily's POV)

I walked down the hallway looking at all the kids I'd be going to High School with. But to avoid the stairs I quickly walked to my first class, making it to the first bell just in time. "Welcome to Wolverhampton High School Ms. Thorns." I weakly waved at my teacher. "I'm Mrs. Johnsan, and I'll have you sitting next to Ms. Buke." A enthusiastic girl with blonde hair waved her hand in the air. An empty seat was next to her, so I came to sit next to her.

"Don't call me Ms. Buke, call me Ashley." She said laughing. "What's youre name?"

"Okay I'm going to call you Emi then." She said, sounding very confident.

"Oh, ugh okay." Class started to begin, but then Ashley elbowed me.

"I saw you walking with Liam Payne in the hallway." She said giggling.

"He drove me to school, he's my neighbor."

She laughed. "Stay clear of him, troublemaker." Liam a troublemaker? But he was so nice.

"Well, what do you mean?"

"Oh honey you've got a lot to learn." She said shaking her head. Then the bell rang. "See you in the next class." She said waving skipping ahead of me. I bit my lip and started walking out of the classroom, when a guy with curly hair found is way to my side. He looped his arm around me.

"How ya doin new kid?" He asked.

"This school has to many kids." I said comparing it to my other school. I looked up at him, and he smiled. His dimpled poking out as he laughed. He was adorable, his green eyes were dreamy. They reminded me of Liam's brown chocolate ones.

"Honors English next?" He laughed. "Me too." He said keeping his arm around me as we walked to class. "Harry, by the way."

"New kid." I said smiling.

"That's you're name, set in stone, for eternity." I laughed a little. I sat down in an empty chair, and Harry stopped. "Ugh I'm gonna sit back here." He said, his face looked pale. I shrugged as he walked away. I put my stuff on my desk, and took out my notebook, writing some stuff down that I had for homework. Homework on the first day of school sounds reasonable.

"You're in my seat." I heard somebody say angrily. I looked up to be face to face with a man with jet black hair. He was wearing a leather jacket, and had dark olive skin like Liam.

"Oh ugh sorry." I said grabbing my stuff about to move.

"It's okay baby I'll just sit next to you." He jumped over the desk and sat next to me. I set my stuff back down. "But if you ever sit in my seat again, I won't let it slip." He had a threatening tone in his voice. I nodded and turned my attention to the teacher. I looked over at him again, and I noticed he was staring at me. I looked away quickly, not wanting to make eye contact with him. I clenched my teeth together, feeling his eyes burning on me. When the bell rang I grabbed my stuff and ran outside the classroom. I began walking down to the lunchroom, when somebody grabbed onto my waist and pushed me against the locker.

It was him again, he put his hands at the side of my head. I said absolutely nothing, terrified and startled. "You know, you're pretty hot." I blushed, and noticed Harry come out of the classroom. He caught eyes with me, turning towards me then. "Go away Harry." He growled, dropping his hands to the side. Right as he did, I moved past him, but he grabbed my arm.

"Let go of her." Harry said, his fists clenched as he stood face to face with him.

"Who's going to make me?" I struggled again his grip, his hands looped around my wrist so tightly it hurt.

"Do you really want to fight?" At this point my wrist hurt so bad I didn't care of Harry got in a fight with him.

"Winner gets to take her to lunch." Then he let go of my wrist to throw a punch at Harry, but he dodged out of the way thankfully. Then before they could get any father, I stood in front of them, pushing on his chest.

"Stop, both of you!" Kids were looking in our direction, and I felt my face turn red. I pushed past both of them and began running towards the lunch room embarrassed. I noticed Liam at a table, but there was a long line for food, so I just didn't eat. I sat down in a chair next to Liam, noticing a couple of other guys at the table. But I was the only girl.

"Hows your first day been going?" Liam asked, resting his hands on the back of my chair as I slouched.

"Fine." I said lying. Before Liam could argue, Harry was at my side.

"Hey look I'm sorry." Harry said.

"Just leave me alone." I got up from my chair, not wanting to talk to anybody. I just really wanted to be alone. So I went to my next class, Math, even though it was still lunch time. I sat in the math room in a table at the back of the room in silence till the teacher walked in.

"Emily right?" I looked up then.

"Oh um yeah."

"Class doesn't start for another 20 minutes, why aren't you in lunch?" He said walking up to his desk shuffling through papers.

"Ugh just not hungry." I gave him a weak smile.

"Hard first day?" He laughed. I nodded. "Hey if you ever need help, I'm here."

"I'm a new teacher this year too, just graduated from college in the summer time."

"Congratulations." I said, not really paying attention. I was going through what had just happened in the hallway. My first day here, and two guys just about fought over me.

"Is something bothering you?" He said sitting on the top of the desk, in front of me.

"Just, ugh I have a lot of homework." I said pulling books from my bag. I dropped my schedule on the floor, and he picked it up and looked at it.

"Wow, you're in a lot of honors classes." He said handing me my schedule back.

"Every class except math."

"Hey just because you're in class B doesn't mean you're bad."

"Just a little, I could have made it to Honors math if I tried harder." I said thinking about all the troubles I've had in math. But I was just happy it was helping me think of something besides Harry and that other guy.

"Well maybe if I'm a good teacher I could get you up to an A, then you can work you're way up to Honors." I smiled.

"Thanks." I said smiling, looking up at him.

"I'm Mr. Burr." He said holding out a hand. I took it shaking it.

"Nice to meet you."

"As to you." He said nodding as he pulled away from the handshake. "Would you like me to teach you today's lesson? Maybe get you ahead of the class a little? Then you can ask me questions at the end of class?" He said walking back up to the board.

"Sure." I said moving up closer so I could listen. Once he started teaching the lesson to me, I was so confused I had so may questions but I eventually got the hang of it. Right as the bell rang we finished up, and he handed me the homework. So I started working on it.

I felt to hands land on the front of my desk with a thud. I looked up to see exactly who I didn't want to see. "You're sitting in my seat again darling." I grabbed my stuff to get up and move, but he sat in the chair next to me so I couldn't get out. "I don't think so." He said smirking. I looked up to see if Mr. Burr was paying attention, but he was helping some kid.

I held in the words that I wanted to say, and sat back down. I began working on my homework, when the bell rang and the class got started. While he taught the lesson, the guy sitting next to me didn't bother to pay attention. He set his hand on my thigh, and began rubbing it slowly. I slapped his hand, but his hand didn't move. "Stop." I said whispering.

"Emily, Justin, is there a problem?" I looked away from 'Justin' and continued to do my homework. Not wanting to cause any trouble, even though Justin wanted to.

"Nope." Justin said giving Mr. Burr a smile. Mr. Burr walked back up to the board and continued to teach his lesson.

I felt somebody tap my shoulder, and I turned around to see Ashley. She smiled handing me a slip of folded paper. I took it from her and unfolded it.

Just thought I should let you know, if he is giving you a problem,
Punch him in the balls.   -Ashley

I smiled and laughed at the note, stuffing it into my pocket. But Justin didn't bother me for the rest of class, thankfully. Once the bell rang, Justin moved out of the way and let me through. I walked out of the classroom, going to P.E., when I felt a soft squeeze on my bum. I turned to see Justin smirking. I went to keep walking, when Liam came and took Justin by the collar of the shirt, and shoved him against a locker. "Listen man, if you touch her one more time!" Before Liam, or Justin could move or say anything else Mr. Burr was outside separating them, taking them down to the office. I saw many eyes turn to me, but Ashley thankfully grabbed onto my arm and pulled me into the girls bathroom.

"You missy, are causing a lot of trouble." She said laughing. I sat down on the floor, while Ashley fixed her hair and makeup.

"I don't want to cause trouble." I said groaning.

"Look, don't fall for either of them. Their both trouble." She said laughing, helping to pull me up. Come on we've got to get going to P.E.

P.E. was a blast, we were playing dodge ball and I wasn't as bad as I thought I was. Liam and I were on the same team, and we were really beasting things up. But I didn't talk to him at all, I didn't even look at him.

At the end of the day, Ashley and I were talking away. Talking about the brats in school, and the weirdos. She claimed herself as an inbetweener. "Hey do you have a ride home?" Ashley said, as we walked over to her car. I looked around for Liam's truck, but I didn't see him anywhere.

"I'll give you a ride then." Right as I went to get into her car, I heard a truck pull up behind Ashley's car so she couldn't back out.

"I'll give her a ride." I heard Liam say.

"No it's fine." Ashley said, as we both stood outside of her car with the doors open.

"I said I'd give her a ride." I stood here awkwardly.

"Okay Emily, you can go with him." Ashley said angrily getting into her car.

"Um, okay." I said rubbing my thumb on my forehead in stress. I shut her door, and walked around Liam's truck getting buckeled. The car ride was absolutely silent. I wanted to ask him why he was violent, and why did Ashley say he was trouble. But Liam looked pretty angry, and he was driving way over the speed limit, so I wanted him to stay focused on the road so I wouldn't die. When we came to a stop sign, Liam didn't stop, causing cars to screetch to a stop. I grabbed onto the front of the car, praying to god I wouldn't die. "What the hell is wrong with you!?" I said freaking out.

"I'm just stressed." He said.

"Stop driving so fast." I said annoyed.

"You know, you, you are very ontop of everything." He said still not looking at me. Picking up speed even more.

"Just stop the car!" I said starting to freak out. Liam continued to increase in speed. "Stop!" I screamed at him, and he slammed on the breaks. Scaring me, finally the car came to a stop. "I'll walk." I said opening the door.

"Look Emily, I'm sorry." I jumped out of the truck and slammed the door. Liam rolled down the window so he could keep talking to me.

"Just go away." I said starting to walk towards home, it was only a couple blocks away.

"Emil-." I cut him off.

"Go away!" I said punching his truck. Liam let out a huff of air, and rolled up the window as he drove home. I watched the back of his truck, as smoke came from the back leaving me behind. I was so excited to go home. Once I was home, I took out my cellphone and collapsed on my bed. My dad wouldn't be home till later because he needed to pay off the rent on the house at the end of the month, which was in 3 days. I heard a pounding on my window. I walked over to my window and opened it. Liam was at his window looking at me. Throwing something at my window. "What." I said sitting on a chair.

"Please forgive me for being a douche."

"It's fine." I said resting my head on my hand which was laid on the bottom of the window.

"You like lasagna?"

I laughed. "Yeah."

"Want to come over for supper?"

"Okay it'll be done in an hour."

"Okay I'll cya later then." I said closing my window waving goodbye. That was a fast makeup.
