23. Chapter 22

A loud ringing sounding high enough to burst an ear drum is what woke Demi and Louis up the next morning.

"Shit!" Louis yelled as he jumped up from the bed.

The clock said 7:12 and Demi knew this was bad. She had three minutes to get Louis out of her house before Perrie was here. Louis' phone was still ringing though. Louis quickly picked it up pulling on his shirt.

"Yeah mate?" Louis said in panic.

"Where ya at?" Harry asked. "You sick or something? I know you take forever but you usually aren't late picking me up."

"Sorry, um. I can't take you to school this morning. My car is going to the shop," Louis saw Demi motioning for him to hurry up and go.

"What's wrong?" Harry asked.

Louis was panicking worse than he ever had before. Demi was prancing around the room ready to scream but she knew she couldn't.

"I don't know mate, but I um. Yeah, I gotta go," Louis hung up the phone and shoved it into his pocket. "What?" he yelled at Demi.

"You have a minute before Perrie gets here! We are so busted! Dammit Louis!" Demi pushed Louis and fell to the ground covering her face.

Louis slipped on his Toms and sat beside Demi.

"Why are you freaking out? I thought you didn't care?"

"I don't, but I didn't want them to find out like this."

Louis pulled Demi close and kissed her slowly.

"It'll be okay, I promise."

Demi nodded still a little scared of what the girls were going to think when they arrived.

"Call Perrie and tell her you have a ride to school today," Louis smile and handing Demi her phone.

Demi jumped as her phone started ringing.

Jesy flashed across the screen and Demi couldn't bring herself to answer the phone before she peaked out the curtains.

Of course, she saw Perrie's Jetta parked behind Louis' Nissan. She could tell that Perrie and Jesy were arguing as they pointed from the Nissan to Demi's bedroom window.

"Well, let's go tell them Demi," Louis said grabbing her hand.

"No!" Demi screamed. "Your car stopped working down the road. My dad helped you get it here. That's it. Okay?"
"What?" Louis said taking a step back.

"They can't know about the summer or the truth about last night."

"Are you kidding me Demi?" Louis was so frustrated.

"No, you just got here a little while ago. My mom invited you in for tea. The girls will believe it."

"Demi! Are you kidding me right now! Why are you doing this?"

"Just say what I told you to, let's go!" Demi said knowing the girls were probably getting anxious because Jesy was calling her again.

"Ha! You tell them whatever you want. I'm outta here," Louis slammed Demi's bedroom door and ran down the stairs.

Perrie, Leigh-Anne, Jesy, and Jade were all standing on the front porch when he stormed out of the house.

"What the heck Louis?" Perrie asked.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Jesy questioned with an attitude.

"Ask Demi," Louis said climbing into the Nissan. He was proud of himself for not crying in front of them but he knew he wasn't going to school today.

Louis barely got the Nissan by the Jetta but after he was out of the driveway he took off down the road speeding like crazy.

Demi finally made it down the stairs and out the door where the girls had very questioning looks on their faces. Jade felt like she knew what was going on but didn't say anything.

"What the fuck Demi?" Leigh-Anne yelled as Demi locked the door.

Demi repeated the same crazy story that she came up with just a few minutes earlier.

"Then why did his car just start then?" Jesy asked before popping her gum.

"My dad did something to it last night. Louis came and got the car this morning, can we go now?" Demi was worried the girls weren't going to believe her.

"Yeah. Sorry you had to deal with Tomlinson this morning. That's rough," Leigh-Anne laughed as they climbed into Perrie's Jetta.

The girls bought the bogus story that Demi had made up not too long ago. Demi would have to beg Louis for forgiveness later but none of that mattered. The girls still trusted her and that is all she wanted.
