Listening To The Silent Lyrics

What happens when your ordinary life turns into a drama? What happens when your dreams become true and you meet the love of your life? Well this is it for 16 year-old Lucy Mai. But this is no fairy tale. This is real life.

6. Recording

The studio was full of different instruments. There was a recording booth in the corner of the room. A huge window spread across the whole room showing most of London. The view was beautiful. Behind all the cars and Lorries was a breath taking forest. The dark greens of the trees reflected the icy look around it. It was just so magnificent…I can’t even…

Ed tapped me on the shoulder to get my attention. In his hand he held a whiteboard with the words ‘like the view?’ on it. I nodded and whispered “I love it.” With a smile upon my face.  I went to go sit down on a stool and Ed came to join me, writing away on the whiteboard. Once he finished he passed it over to me.

‘I know you probably want to record something right now or try it out, so I’m just going to leave you to it for a while. Do whatever you want. Text me if you need anything, ok?’ Did he just read my mind? “Thank you.” I said with a huge grin. Ed got up and walked out of the door, shutting it behind him.

I took a few moments to take all of this in before getting up and finding an acoustic guitar. My hand delicately trailed around its strings before I took it in my lap. To make sure it was tuned and everything, I found an auto tuner device on the table with some other things. I clipped the auto tuner onto it and played each chord, looking at the scale to see if it was okay.

Once I had finished that, I went to sit down in the recording booth. The stall wasn’t that high so I could easily get on it. Strumming the first few chords of a song I made, I began to sing.

Tears falling down my cheek,

Tearing me up as I think,

Of what could have been,

My head spinning,

Falling apart like my heart,

Then I see you,

Acting like nothing has happened at all,

Now here I am, writing a song after the fall’ I sing before breaking into the chorus and strumming more complicated notes.

‘What if things had been different?

What if we had kept it light?

What if I could just hold you close tonight?

What if our story was just starting?

I wish you never lied, to me.

It seems like the stories playing over again

Memorising the words of what was said

And how oooh oooh oh how I wish

That you never lied to me’ I sang the chorus. Me and my old best friend Tara wrote this song before the incident.

‘I got dealt a hand, not in my favour

Not what I planned

Not what I had hoped fro

And not what I needed

You succeeded in giving me pain

Making me cry

Making me regret everything I said

Making me think it should have been me’ the last verse was before I broke back into the chorus. I repeated the chorus twice before ending the song. Pleased with my work, I got up to get some food. Yummy yummy food.

I ate some Oreo’s and had a drink of milk.  Looking at the time, I saw it was 1:36. Wow. I’ve got ages.
