You're Hired

“What do you think will happen when the contract ends?” I asked him. He shrugged his shoulders as a respond.

“It’s up to you, what do you feel?”” he replied.

“About?” I asked him.

“About us.” he responded.

8. Chapter Eight

“It’s okay,” I whispered to my cousin. She looked at me curiously then continued painting her nils.

“You know,” she said quite loudly. I really don’t get her. She’s really loud even if we’re the only ones in the room. My room. “I can’t actually believe you’re dating Harry Styles.”

“Me neither,” I mumbled. She looked at me with one eyebrow raised but I simply shrugged my shoulders.

“Miss him?” I nodded my head. “How long will he be gone?”

“Four months,” I sighed.

“That’s quite long,” she said, admiring her nails.

“Yeah, but I can wait."

“Hey how about we go have some girl’s night?” she suggested.

“I don’t know.” I laid down in my bed and stared at the ceiling. My life is just so complicated right now. I haven’t slept well for the past few days, cause of the hates roaming around in my head. I never asked for this. Before I even met One Direction my life was happy. And well… there were no hates or paps. But now, it’s just so different. I propped my elbows on the bed so that it carried my weight. “Can I ask you something?"

“How does someone handle all the hate they get?” I asked. The reason why I asked her this is cause she’s Miss Popularity in her school and well… maybe she gets some hates.

“I don’t know Jem,” she said. “I guess just try to prove them wrong."

“But that’s hard!” I complained. “You know I actually thought this was going to be easy, Kyla."

She chuckled before looking at me. “Nothing is easy in this world. Just like the way nothing is for free."

I groaned at her reply before slopping back down in the bed. She laughed at my childlike attitude before continuing with her nails.

If you’re all wondering why my cousin is here, it’s cause my family is having a family reunion. It happens like once in a year. And well, she’s the only one quite not busy so I asked her to keep me company for some time. To my surprise, all my aunts and uncles were so eager to meet Harry. But much to their dismay, he wasn’t here. And I was thankful for that. My family have a big mouth.

They were always so straight forward with their questions. Harry might not even like my family. Yes.. we are a well-off family but then my family members were kind of.. weird. But I like them that way. It’s just that Harry might not agree.

“Jemima!” I quickly snapped out of my trance and turned to look at Kyla. “You were zoning out."

“Sorry,” I said.

“Here, go get changed,” she threw me a dress which was white. “I gotta go get changed, see ya later! Mwah!” She walked out of my room like the diva she was and I couldn’t help but hopelessly get changed.

* * *

It has been 3 hours since the reunion has begun. Everyone was talking and laughing and joking and doing family stuffs. I was getting along with everyone. Yes. Everyone. Just not those freaking haters on twitter.

“So how’s your relationship with Harreh!?” one of my cousins said. All of my girl cousins turned to look at me while the boys gave their graceful exits. Obviously, they were evading the girl talks.

“It’s good,” I said, looking down at the drink in my hand. There was silence in our table before they burst out screaming.

I chuckled at them but my smile quickly faded.

“He’s a great man,” I said.

“That’s it?” Kyla asked.

“I don’t know,” I said. “It’s hard to explain."

“You know,” Hanlie, Kyla’s older sister, said. “You haven’t been smiling really since we got here. Is something wrong?"

“No,” I said a little too quick. I sighed. “It’s just the haters. I get tons of them everyday and it’s sickening."

“Why do you even read those rubbish?"

“I don’t know!” I whined. “It’s just  that, I want to know what people think of me."

“What matters is what the people you love think about you,” she said. “Those people don’t even know how amazing you are. Don’t listen to them.” Hanlie said. She was the oldest among all of us. She was 26… so maybe that explains why she always knows what to say at the right time.

“Ewww!” all my girl cousins said. “You sound like a mum!"

She shot all of us death glares but we all laughed at it. Yeah… she is right. I shouldn’t care about what they think.
