Heaven Sent

Blue eyes, dark hair over one eye, pale skin...
Who is the mysterious boy that saved Nahla on the night of the fight?
Why is he here? For her sake? Well, Roux is no ordinary guy... Doing what he does is difficult. Not to break the law, bend the rules, to be with her... but, they can get away with it. Can't they?...

11. Nahla

I awake to find a familiar face, swimming above me. Big, dark hair, a trailing school tie. "Nahla?"

The face drifts in and out of focus, until... I remember a forest, a blazer, dark hair, pale skin, blue eyes, hands along my hips, warm breath, ruffling feathers, colidascope patterns on the leafy ground! Him. I yell and struggle upright, my heart rate a humming bird's beating wing, sweat on my brow.

"Hey, Nahla! Its just me." Adele smiles nervously and pats me on the shoulder. "And, Matron..." She peers over her shoulder. "You OK?"

"Yeah..." The blood is still flowing, my heart still beating, the cogs in my brain still turning. Turning things over. How? Why? When? Who? What? Where? The six questions my English teacher all ways tells us to use in a comprehension test, but no one can tell me the real answers to this question. But, I want to know them. Now! I leap to my feet, still wobbling slightly. And, lurch for the door but, she holds me back. Matron hauls me into the chair in the office. I struggle but she holds me down. "I need to get... into... the forest... him. I need to know...why? How?" Matron tuts sadly. "Concussion, its a classic sign of faintness." She turns to Adele, who is standing awkwardly in the back ground.

"Let this be a first aid lesson to you." She nods at Adele who creeps forward. From past science lessons I know that Adele is the most squeamish person on the entire planet. She faints at the mere glimpse of blood or body parts. She nearly died when we had to dissect that frog in biology last year!

I feel for her. As she steps out, matron hands her a wet cloth an instructs her to pad at my forehead with it until she gets back. As matron disappears out of the office, Adele leans over. "I don't have to let any blood from you do I?"

"No, of course not. Why?"

"Its just my mum watches casualty every night . Just please, don't die or anything!"

I grin. "Of course I won't."
