Chapter 43

Zayn and I were sitting down laughing and talking about how Doniya has been on my case all day about ruining my hair because of Zayn and I's encounter in the elevator.

“I told you she would yell at me,” I said scowling at Zayn as I leaned over to talk to him over the loud music that the DJ was playing.

He laughed and said, “Well how did she expect me to keep my hands off of you when you look so sexy, babe.”

He placed his hand on my thigh and began to slip it through the slit on my dress. I could feel the electricity that his touch caused flowing through my body, but before I let anything happen I grabbed his hand and placed it back on his lap. He laughed at my sudden reaction. His eyes glowed with happiness and his facial expressions were relaxed. I've never seen his this way before. Even though I rejected his touch he seemed happy. I couldn't help myself but stare and admire this side of him.

He usually looked so stressed and tensed in LA. Even when he was alone with me I could tell something was there at the back of his mind that was bothering him, but tonight it was as if all of those thoughts were gone. He was relaxed and smiling. He was laughing and seemed completely care free. Throughout the whole night he has been playful with me. It was a side of him that I hadn't met before and I was beginning to like this side of him.

“Why are you staring at me like that,” he asked.

I smiled and answered, “You look...”

He was taken aback by my answer and I paused trying to find the right word to describe him.

“I look?” he prompted

“You look happy, Zayn,” I said.

He smiled a pearly white smile and the leaned in towards me. He took my hand into his; his touch was soft and caring. I looked at his brown chocolate eyes as they sparkled with happiness and I couldn't help, but smile myself. He pressed his forehead against mine and lightly brushed his lips against mine.

“I am happy,” he said his hot breathe against my lips.

“Why,” I laughed, “this is suppose to be your cousin's happiest day of her life not yours.”

He lightly planted a kiss on my cheek and I could feel him grinning against my skin. I grinned and as he pulled away he said, “I am here surrounded by a family who loves me and I am sitting here with the most beautiful date that I know loves me as much as I love her. Nothing can ruin this moment, Ella. My family absolutely loves you and I am just happy I stumbled upon you that day at the beach.”

His words filled my heart with love. I could hear it in his voice that he meant every single word and I was glad to know that he was happy.

I leaned in to kiss his lips before whispering, “I love you.”

He smiled taking my face in his hands and kissing me. It was a kiss full of love and affection. It was more then the sexual attraction we had for each other. This kiss was real. It was what they call a true loves kiss. I laughed in my head at how cheesy that sounds, but I finally got what all of those movies talked about when they find that one person they are madly in love with.

“You guys disgust me,” a voice interrupted us.

Zayn and I pulled away to look up at a dark haired girl starring back at us.

“What do you want Jana,” Zayn answered annoyed.

“Your mum wants you to help her with some heavy stuff,” she rudely said and walked away.

Zayn rolled his eyes at her as she walked away and then peck my lips lightly before leaving me to sit there alone.

Jana stood there staring at me as I sat down looking around the room. Her stare was making me uncomfortable and I felt like she wanted to say something to me, but she didn't. She simply rolled her eyes when I looked at her and walked away. I know she didn't like me because Zayn and I were together, but I didn't see the point of her hatred towards me if she was not the one to get her heart broken. I did manage to get a glimpse of Jasmine a while ago, but I didn't really see much of her besides the back of her head. I wasn't sure if I did want to see her or not. I didn't want to know if she was prettier than me or if she looked miserable and heartbroken. To be honest I was mostly afraid that I would feel horrible about being with Zayn because of her.

I continued to look around the ball room and realized that people were starting to leave already. I looked at my cellphone to check the time and noticed it was already past midnight. The day had gone so fast and I was having such a great time with Zayn and meeting his family that I did not even noticed the time past by so fast.

I caught myself yawning and realized I was actually exhausted. I got up to go and look for Zayn to let him know that I was ready to go back to the hotel. I didn't see him anywhere near the ballroom. Maybe he is in the kitchen or the bathroom. I decide to look for him in the kitchen since Jana said that his mom needed him I figured it was to wrap some left overs or something.

I was walking towards the kitchen when I bumped into Jana.

“Watch it Ella,” she rudely said.

My eyes widen at her rudeness, “sorry Jana. Have you seen Zayn?”

She smirked and said, “Actually I have.”

Something about the way she said it made me feel a lot more nervous than what I usually feel around her.

“Well can you tell me where he is,” I asked.

She smiled a fake smile and then said, “I saw him go out to the patio. I am positive you can find him there.”

“Um, Thanks,” I said and turned around to go find Zayn.

I opened the door that led to the patio and what I found was unforgivable.

Zayn's POV

“What do you want to talk about?” I asked Jasmine.

She insisted that she wanted to talk to me about some issues that she was having at home. She dragged me in here telling me that she missed me and that I was the only one that could help her. I wasn't sure if this was a good idea knowing how Ella feels about her and Jana, but Jasmine has been my friend I haven't been a great friend to her lately.

We sat on a bench near a flowery bush and she scooted closer to me. I didn't want to make her feel bad by scooting away from her, so I didn't move. I was sure that being this close to her was not a good idea, but I didn't want to hurt her feelings. I've already hurt her too much.

“Well,” she started, “I missed you.”

She placed her hand on mine and I moved it away. Her touch was too strange against my skin.

“Did you drag me out here just to tell me that?” I asked a little too harsh.

“No. I wanted to talk to you.” she said.

“Well go on talk,” I said not wanting to play any games with her.

She nodded and gave me an innocent smile before saying, “My mum left my dad.”

Her smile disappeared being replaced by a frown and I could see her eyes sparkling trying to keep the tears away.

“What? Why?” This was shocking new to me. Her parents have always been the happy married couple. They were always laughing and showing affection towards each other. Who would have thought that they would end up being separated.

“I don't know really,” the tears began to escape her eyes, “part of me thinks it was my fault. They would always argue about how I was a bad child and that my father was always blaming my mother for the way I turned out.”

“What do you mean you were always the good child. Jana is the crazy friend.” I said.

“Not exactly Zayn. When you left I was heartbroken it was hard for me to handle this and I turned to alcohol and drugs. It was not just you though I just liked the rush and I loved to spend almost every weekend partying. It was fun until my mum left.”

“Don't blame yourself,” I said placing my hand on hers, “it isn't your fault. I am sure that they had other reasons why they split.”

“Well it is not easy to think that I am not to blame when my father gets drunk and yells at me telling me it was my fault.” Her tears were running down her cheek staining her cheeks a bit from her makeup.
I sighed and pulled her in for a hug, “you are going to be fine. You are strong and I know that none of this is your fault.”

I pulled away and she stared at me making me feel a bit uncomfortable.

“I missed you so much Zayn,” she said and then placed her lips on mine.

It all happened so fast. One minute I was talking to her and the next she was trying to stick her tongue down my throat.

“How could you,” I heard Ella's voice come from behind us as I tried pushing Jasmine away.
I turned around only to find a heartbroken Ella staring at me with tears in her eyes.

“Ella,” I whispered, “It's not..” but before I could finish she was running off with tears in her eyes. Shit. This was not suppose to happen.

“Ella! Wait,” I yelled after her.

I started to run after her, but Jasmine held me back placing her firm hands around my arm.

“Let her go Zayn,” she said, “she knew that we were meant to be together anyways. Jana tried to warn her.”

“What?” I yelled was this girl serious.

“You and I belong together,” she said.

“No! I will never love you Jasmine! I love Ella! Stop trying to come back into my life! Just stop,” I yelled yanking my arm away from her hold and began to run after Ella.
