Chapter 41

I woke up still feeling a bit unsure about being the right girl for Zayn. I know he loves me because I could see it in his eyes when looks at me and every time we touch I can feel the electricity between us, but I am still not sure if I am worth it.

I sighed and looked over at Zayn. He looked so peaceful as he slept. I didn't want to wake him so I tried to make as less movement as possible to get up from the bed. I took the bed sheet and wrapped it around my naked body, but as I wrapped the sheet I knocked down a lamp that was on the night stand causing it to fall and make a loud noise as it hit the ground. I flinched and then slowly looked over at Zayn to make sure I didn't wake him. Zayn was still sound asleep as if nothing had happened. He was a heavy sleeper.

I quickly showered and put on some clothes. I looked out the window and noticed it was still a bit early. The sun was barely rising and I watch as patches of light were displayed on the Paris floor. I stood there looking out at the city and admiring the beautiful city of Paris. Zayn made sure to get us a hotel room with the nicest view of Paris. He was always making sure everything was just right for this trip and so far it has been perfect. Of course with the exception of his cousin making me feel less worth than what I already feel.

I was so lost in thought looking out at the city; when all of a sudden the sound of Zayn's voice startled me. I turned back and looked at Zayn as he fumbled to answer the phone. I watched as he talked on the phone answering with just yes and uh huh.

He soon hung up and then looked over at my direction.

“Good morning beautiful,” he said his voice raspy.

“Good morning,” I said and then turned back to look out at the city. I wasn't sure what was going on with me today, but even though Zayn showed me that he truly did love me I was still unsure. I just didn't believe in myself as much as he believed in me. I have no potential.

I felt Zayn's arm wrap around my waist and my heart jumped with the feel of his touch. I closed my eyes and took a deep breathe. Why was it so hard for me to accept that this man really did love me?

He nuzzled his head into my neck and I crooked my head to the side giving him more access. He began to kiss and nibble spots on my neck and my heart began to race ever time his lips made contact with my skin. I took a deep breath and I felt a tear escape my eyes.

“It's a beautiful view isn't it,” he whispered. His hot breathe felt good against my skin.

I cleared my throat and whispered, “It is very beautiful.”

He must have noticed something was wrong because I felt him stiffen up and he turned me around so that I was facing him. I looked down at his chest to avoid his stare and began to trace circles on his bare chest. I began to get lost looking at his perfect skin. I pressed my forehead against his chest and began to trail kisses across feeling his warm skin against my lips.

“Ella,” he whispered, “What's wrong?”

I closed my eyes tight and then took a deep breathe. I was hoping he would ask me what was wrong. I opened my eyes and looked up at him wrapping my arms around his neck.

“Zayn,” I started, “I-”

I couldn't go on. I couldn't tell him that it was impossible for him to love me. That there was no way that we would ever work out. I couldn't tell him that I was afraid that he would break me. I just looked into his eyes as they sparkled in the sunlight that came in from the window and got lost in his stare.

“You,” he prompted.

I smiled and then continued, “I love you, so much.”

I watched as his concern expression formed into a big smile and he leaned in and kissed me. His lips were sweet and soft just like they always were.

He pulled back and said, “Now are you ready for today?”

I looked at him confused, “What is going on today?”

“Well besides the fact that you agreed to go shopping with my annoying sister; I was thinking we could go to dinner and the Eiffel Tower later.”

“Actually I kind of just want to stay here,” I said.

“What?” he said, “are you crazy? You are in Paris Ella. There is so much you need to see.”

“I am just not feeling like going out today, Zayn,” I said and then turned away to look out the window once more. The day did look beautiful. The sun was out and bright and the sky looked clear and beautiful. I looked over at the Eiffel Tower and it looked so beautiful, but I was really in no mood to even leave this room. I just didn't want too face anyone right now. I was just so confused.

“Ella, is something wrong?”

“No Zayn nothing is wrong. I just don't want to go out.” I said I little too harsh.

“Hey,” he said turning me so that I was facing him, “I am confused did I do something? I mean I brought you here so that we can be together and have fun. This is important for me Ella. I want my family to get to know you.”

“Zayn,” I sighed, “You didn't do anything wrong. I am just not in the mood to go out, please tell your sister I am sorry.”

“Oh no. You are going to tell her,” he said pulling me away from the window, “ that was her on the phone and she should be here any second now.”

I rolled my eyes. Ugh I really did not want to do this right now, “Please Zayn I don't need a dress anyways. I can't afford it and I can just wear this one,” I said pointing at my old dress that was laid out nicely on a chair. I looked at it and realized that it was an ugly dress for a wedding.

Zayn laughed and said, “you don't even like that dress and don't worry about it I already gave money to my sister for you girls to shop.”

“Zayn I-” and a knock on the door interrupted what I was about to say.

Zayn pushed me towards the door and said, “you go ahead and get that I am going in the shower and don't forget to have fun.”

He quickly kissed my lips and then ran into the shower before I could say anything.

I rolled my eyes and then dragged myself towards the door. I opened the door to find a smiling Doniya staring back at me.

“Hi Ella. Are you ready to go,” she asked.

I didn't have the heart to tell her that I didn't want to go with her. Doniya was very nice to me and I really liked her. I think that was my problem. I didn't want to grow attached to anyone from his family because I knew that when he left me it would hurt me even more.

I smiled at her and said, “Yeah let me just get my purse.”

“Where is Zayn?” she asked.

“He ran away like a coward,” I yelled towards wear the shower was located so that Zayn could hear me.

“What?” she asked laughing.

“Nothing,” I said, “forget it he will hear from me later.”'

She laughed and we walked out of the hotel room.

On our way to the shops Doniya kept babbling about the types of dresses that she thought would suit me better and all I was thinking about was Zayn and our future.

We went into a very expensive store full of beautiful dresses. I love shopping, but I always looked through the clearance sections and I looked around for them but didn't seem to find any. There was no red tags or signs that read my favorite word 'SALE.'

“Uh Doniya,” I said, “We can't shop here.”

“Why not?” she asked looking at me confused.

“I can't really afford it,” I whispered.

“Neither can I, but my generous loser of a brother gave me enough to buy you something nice.”

I rolled my eyes and then started looking through some of the dresses. I looked at prices choosing out the ones that were cheap. I soon had a stack of three dresses. I looked over at Doniya and she had a stack of about ten dresses. My mouth fell open surprised at the stack of dresses she had chosen.

“I only picked out three,” I said laughing.

“Let me take a look at them,” she said.

I pulled up the first dress showing it to her. She made a gagging sound and then waved it away. I laughed and then pulled out the second one. She looked at it as if it was some strange unknown creature and then waved it away with her hand.

“Doniya are you going to disapprove of all my dresses,” I asked.

“Well if they all look as hideous as those then yes I am.” She said.

I laughed and then pulled out the last dress. She rolled her eyes and then waved it away as well.

“Ella. You are so lucky to have me in your life right now.” She said and then pulled my hand towards the dressing room.

She pushed me into the dressing room and then threw me the first dress. I looked at it and it was a very nice dress. I looked at the price and then threw it back at Doniya.

“You didn't even try it on,” she said.

“Did you see the price,” I said.

“No, but it doesn't matter because we can afford anything in this store. Why can't you just let Zayn do this nice thing for you?” she asked.

“Because he already does too much and sometimes it's overwhelming,” I said and I didn't realize that I was crying now.

Doniya stared at me with a scared look in her eyes. I wiped the tears off my face with the back of my hand and went back into the dressing room. I took a deep breath and stayed there trying to calm myself.

“Ella,” Doniya softly called from outside, “Are you alright? Is something going on with you and Zayn?”

I came out and she had this caring look in her eyes. I knew that she meant well and that she wasn't going to bomb me with questions and comments that I didn't really want to hear. I mean the last time I talked to one of Zayn's family members I ended up like this. Feeling so vulnerable and worthless. I let this girl make me feel like I am not good enough for Zayn and even though the thought was always in my head; I never though I would hear it from someone else.

“It's not Zayn,” I said, “I am just scared.”

“Scared?” She asked.

I nodded and then a sales women came in and interrupted us, “Is everything alright ladies? Would you like to see other dresses?”

Her accent was strong and very hard to understand, but Doniya quickly answered in french and handed her the dresses she held in her hand.

“Come on let's go get some coffee and we can talk,” she said holding my hand in hers.

We got to a coffee shop near by and sat down. We ordered our coffee and a croissant and then began to talk.

“Ella what's wrong?” she asked.

“What can you tell me about Jana?” I asked.

“My cousin?” she asked confused, “not much besides she is a mad women. Why do you ask?

“Well yesterday at dinner I bumped into her in the restroom and she said some things that got me thinking. She told me about Jasmine and-”

“That little,” she interrupted, “look Ella don't listen to her she is mad. Crazy. Her brain doesn't work properly. She has been obsessing over this for two years now.”

I sighed, “It's just that some of the things she said were true. I just don't think I am good enough for Zayn.”

“Ella, Jana is crazy. Do not listen to anything she says.” She said taking a sip of her coffee.

“What is the story between this Jasmine girl and Zayn,” I asked.

Doniya sighed and then said, “How about we continue our shopping and I’ll tell you all about it because this is going to take a while.”

I nodded and we began to walk to the shops again. As we walked she began to tell me about Zayn and Jasmine, “They met at Jana's birthday party about three years ago I believe. You see Jasmine was really into Zayn and Jana made it her mission to set them up. Zayn and Jasmine became best mates. She was the one he would talk to when he needed someone to talk to and she would be there to listen to him. Same thing with Jasmine when ever she needed him he was there to listen.”

We went into a store and began looking through some dresses as she continued to tell me about Jasmine.

“They grew very close and would do everything together. Jana was of course ecstatic that her best friend and her cousin were growing close. I am not sure how she benefited from all that, but for some reason she was happy. Zayn and Jasmine were just friends for a while. I remember Zayn coming in to my room and telling me that Jasmine had told him that she was falling in love with him and he didn't know what to do. I told him to follow his heart, but Zayn wasn't sure that he felt the same way about her. He ended up talking to her and telling her that he wasn't sure if he could return the affection she had for him. Of course Zayn was a horny teenage boy and offered her to be friends with benefits. She agreed. I am not sure if you want me to tell you the rest Ella,” she said as we made our way into the fitting rooms.

“No go on I want to know,” I said.

“Zayn and her used to go out and Zayn wouldn't come home until the morning after. We all knew that he was actually sleeping with her and I know for a fact that she was his first.”

I wasn't sure why this was making me jealous. I didn't know Zayn back then and he didn't know me. I just wish that we had met before and that we could be each others first, but that wasn't the case.

“Zayn and her were really close friends and you could see it in her eyes that she truly loved him, but to Zayn it was only fun and games. She was only a friend that he could talk to when he needed to talk and shag when he wanted a shag. My brother has done some awful things and has broken a lot of girls hearts, Ella, but this girl just wouldn't give up. When Zayn auditioned for the x factor and then got in joining One Direction; he grew distant from her.”

She handed me a few dresses to try on and continued, “Zayn would call every now and then to mum and us, but he would never call Jasmine. She would come by the house and asked about him all the time, but we weren't quite sure what to tell her. I wasn't sure if I should tell her to forget about him and move on or to keep waiting for him. Soon Zayn became known by a lot of girls and a lot of media as well. I think it was towards the end of the X Factor when news got to Jasmine about Zayn sleeping with some other girls. Jasmine was devastated. She always though that he would come back for her, but Zayn was never interested in her. It was just an adventure for him and she knew that too, but she just let her emotions take control. She knew that Zayn never loved her, but she hoped that maybe one day he would.”

“What about Jana?” I asked as she handed me the next dress.

“Jana was furious. She wanted Jasmine and him to be together more than anyone. She became more furious when she kept hearing all the rumors about Zayn sleeping around with some girls. Of course most it was all rumors, but Zayn did have a few girls that he liked to fool around with. Him and I are really close and he talks to me about a lot of it. I think he mostly did it because he felt lonely out on the road. Sure he was happy with his new job and when Simon had told them that he was signing them even though they didn't win he was more than happy. He was sad that he was going to be on the road a lot and away from us, but he loved his job and still does. When he said he was going away to the US we all couldn't believe it. Jasmine was heartbroken because that would mean he was going further away. Zayn tried and stay away from girls and that bad reputation, but media makes things up and of course Jasmine believed all of it. It wasn't until recently when he called us from Los Angeles and told us he had met a girl. We were all so confused because he never talked about any of the girls he met. He told us that he was having trouble getting to her, but that he wasn't going to give up. Jana came in shouting at us telling us that Zayn was thief of hearts and a heart breaker. She called him so many names and we all knew that she was just mad because her best mate was heartbroken because Zayn had finally found someone and it wasn't her.”

“Do you think that Zayn is actually in love with her, but he didn't have a chance to be with her because of his choice in career?” I said as I gave her the dress I had tried on.

“No not at all Zayn never liked her. She was just a distraction for him. Look Ella I know my brother has a bad rep and I understand why you feel scared. I know that you think that he might play with you or leave you from someone else, but trust me when I say you are different.”

“Why?” I asked, “What makes me any different from Jasmine or the other girls he used as a distraction? What if I am just another one of his distractions?”

“You are not. He has never brought a girl to us. He has never spent so much time and money on a girl. You are the only one. He does it because he loves you,” she said handing me the last dress.

I put on the dress and then stepped outside to show her the beautiful gown. Her eyes were wide open and I was afraid of what she was going to say. All day she has been disapproving of all the dresses I've tried on. This dress was not normally something I would wear, but Doniya insisted I tried it on. It was a navy blue dress that had an opening on my left rib side and a slit opening on my leg.

“That's it. That is the dress. You look absolutely lovely. Zayn is going to love it.” She said.

She walked up to me and then gave me a hug before saying, “Ella ignore Jana. Jasmine is in the past. Zayn loves you I know it. You just have to trust him. I know it's hard knowing he has a sketchy past, but I know he loves you and I know you do to. Just trust that you guys can work.”

I smiled at her and gave her a hug, “Thank You.”
