Twice the Tomlinson

Keegan's not overly fond of her brother. He left. But now he's back, and he has no idea why she hates him so much. Can he get her to forgive him? And what'll happen when she is sent on tour with him? What happens when 5 Seconds of Summer is thrown into the mix?

15. The New Roommate

I groaned as my eyes slid open and I checked my phone for the time. I groaned yet again when I realized I'd only been asleep for about twenty minutes. There's the insomnia rearing its ugly head again... I sighed and slid my exhausted body out of the bunk, wiping my eyes before hand, trying to keep any evidence of the tears from being detected. As soon as my feet hit the floor, I could feel my legs give out from beneath me. I was exhausted and groggy from crying myself to sleep, and at this point, I just didn't care anymore. I was stuck on a bus with nine boys, and currently, none were in the bunk area. Why should I leave?

I laid on the ground in a crumpled heap, just enjoying the quiet that the sound-proof doors provided. That is until one of the doors slid open. I didn't even bother to open my eyes, the floor suddenly seeming immensely comfortable. "Keegan?!?" I recognized the accent as Australian but didn't know the boys well enough to differentiate which one it was coming from.

I groaned and opened my eyes, blinking a few times in an effort to get them to focus.

"Thank God... What happened? Are you okay?" Luke crouched down beside me, genuine concern on his face.

"I fell out of bed..." It was close enough.

He nodded, relief coloring his face, as he leans against one of the walls. I sat up and did the same, leaning back against the opposite wall. He must have noticed something was off because he cocked his head to the side, studying me. I shrank beneath his gaze, mine dropping to the floor. "What?" I didn't know why, but I was suddenly self conscious.

"Are you alright?" His voice was quiet and I knew he wanted the truth.

I tried to force my lips into a smile, but it came out as more of a grimace. I nodded. "Of course. Why wouldn't I be?"

He pulled his bottom lip between his teeth, playing with his lip ring for a moment, causing me to avert my gaze yet again. "You're away from home. Away from your friends. Stuck on a bus with nine boys. Stuck on a bus with your brother. It looks like you've been crying. It doesn't look like you've slept recently. I could go on..."

I bit my lip, drawing my knees to my chest and wrapping my arms around them. I couldn't look him in the eyes. He was spot on. "Is it really that noticeable?" My voice was barely above a whisper.

"No. I've just seen it a lot. The guys and I used to see this all the time when we were less popular, able to really have one on ones with fans. Now that the only interaction we have is in large crowds, it's harder to pick out. But We haven't forgotten the look. Especially Ashton; it hit him hardest." I glanced back up at him when he was describing his experience. I watched as he was transported to another time, his memories taking over. I loved that look; it was unguarded and real, one of the best times to get to know someone's true nature. He snapped back into reality, his blue eyes once again clear and locked on mine.

"I'm fine," was all I managed to say. My voice was quiet and broken and I knew he picked up on it.

I pushed myself up, the room suddenly becoming too small for me. "I'm fine. Honestly." I smiled halfheartedly as I stepped over his long legs and walked out, closing the door behind me. I took a moment to pause and breathe before turning around. Louis, Harry, and Ashton were in the front of the bus chatting. It grew silent momentarily as I walked in, but the conversation picked back up almost immediately. I dropped onto the couch next to Ashton, figuring that if I was next to him, he wouldn't be looking at me, and therefore wouldn't see the signs he apparently knew quite well.

Ashton never said anything, but he was constantly throwing glances at me. I knew my brother and his band mate thought he was just trying to make me feel included, but I had just seen that look on Luke's face a few moments ago. I tried to act normally, but even this room started to feel hot and small.

"Louis?" I knew I probably just interrupted the conversation but I didn't care. He looked over at me with a confused but questioning gaze. "When are we stopping?"

"Uhh... He looked at the clock on his phone. "Probably in a couple hours? We're getting a hotel room for the first night so we can get the whole bus situation sorted out. Why?"

"Just curious." He frowned and nodded, resuming the conversation, albeit a little distracted. Ashton placed a comforting hand on my knee for a brief moment, giving me a knowing look, before following my brother's lead.

We gathered in the lobby of the hotel around one of the members of management, who held the room keys. He explained that there were five rooms, meaning we had to partner off. I looked around, watching the boys. Zayn gave Liam an odd look and they stepped away and towards each other, obviously agreeing to be partners. Niall pointed at Calum with a grin on his face and Calum mimicked him, point and all. Louis and Harry nodded at each other, making eye contact. Luke leaned his arm on Michael's shoulder, holding his other hand out for a fist bump, which Michael returned. Which left me with Ashton. He walked over to me with an almost apologetic expression on his face.

"Sorry, I know we're not overly close. I can request separate rooms if you'd like." He looked like he was genuinely willing to go out of his way to make me comfortable.

I shook my head. "No, it's okay. It's just a couple of nights. I mean, if you're uncomfortable, I won't be offended."

He shrugged. "I'm fine." I nodded and we had a mutual understanding that we were both okay with the situation.

Louis walked over to us just seconds later. "Ashton, if you want to switch rooms we can. I'm fine rooming with my sister. I should've come over here in the first place."

Ashton and I both shook our heads. "It's fine, Louis. Go hang out with Harry. Just because I have to be here, doesn't mean I have to be glued to your side."

"Honestly, it's fine. She's a cool girl and a couple nights won't hurt. Go have fun with your best mate, Louis. I'll take good care of her." Ashton put a hand on Louis's shoulder before Louis nodded and turned back to his best friend.

"Sorry you're stuck with me." I gave him an apologetic half smile.

"Don't worry about it. Like I said, you're a cool girl." He threw his arm around my shoulders as we both grabbed our bags, grabbed the room key, and headed towards the elevator after the group agreed to meet back down in the hotel restaurant in thirty minutes.

Ashton unlocked the door, removing his arm from my shoulders, and held it open for me. I entered and froze. "What's the problem?" He closed the door behind him, coming to stand beside me. "Oh." He sighed as we both looked at the single, queen sized bed. "I'll, uh... I'll take the floor."

"No, it's fine. Just pick a side."

He gave me an unsure look but nodded, moving to the side closest to the window. I took the other side, the one closest to the door, setting my bag on the bed. "Do you mind if I take a shower?"

"Go for it." He gestured to the bathroom door. I smiled my thanks, pulled a couple things out of my overnight bag, and hopped into a cold shower, hoping it would shock me out of the haze I was stuck in.
