4. Tattered Old Book

I rushed back to school as I was going to be late thanks to the situation with Harry Styles. I arrived to  english a few minutes late but my teacher Miss Rowe didn't mind, she smiled at me and waited for me to take my seat before she carried on talking.

'As I was saying, I have a new excited project for you all to start, you're all going to keep this journal here and you're going to write in it. You can write anything you want, do anything you want to it, make it your own!' She beamed. 'I will however will be glancing through them to make sure you are using them, these weren't cheap and I'd not appriciate it if you don't use it.' She looked sternly at the boys who sat in tehir chairs moaning about how girly it was to have journal.

'But Miss!' One boy called. 'Only girls write in journals! That's so wimpy, I'm not going to write in that shitty thing!' He moaned, all the other boys agreed with him.

'Girl's are not the only ones who keep diaries and journals you know. Many famous celebrities have journals, they use them to write down how many calories they've burnt off one day and what their scheduel is for the month.' She explained. I was looking forward to it, because instead of doing written work relating to poems and vocabulry that wasn't right in a sentence we would be filling out our journals. She went along the class giving everyone a brown leather journal with a black elastic band around it to keep it closed. I looked over to Beth who had already opened hers and started to write in it, she quickly looked up at me and smiled.

Everyone seemed to be writing inside their journals even the boys, but I didn't. It's not because I didn't want to, it's because I didn't know what to put in it, which seems stupid as seeming I have a lot going on, but I didn't want to write all that crap in there, I wanted this to be the only place where positive things are recorded. I want to be able to look back on my life by reading this and see that though I did have some struggles in my life, most of it was positive, I just didn't realise it then. Miss Rowe came over to me, scanning at my empty book.

'Alice, are you okay? You haven't recorded anything in your journal yet, I thought you would be one of the firsts to do that.'

'Yeah I'm fine, it's just I don't really know what to put in this old tattered book.' I admitted.

'Anything you want dear, you can write a story, draw, write songs, stick things in. I don't care! Be creative that's all I want.' She smiled and left me be. This is why Miss Rowe was my favourite teacher, she knew I have behavioural problems but she knew that in every kid there was good in them, you just had to work at it, and with me she did, no matter how many times I swore at her, bunked the lesson, she never once yelled or sent me out.
