29. Chapter 27

James walked with Cindy into the room where Christina was resting at. The nurse was currently taking her vitals for the hour while the two of them came into the room.

“Who is he mom?” Christina sat up looking at James. “I don’t know him.”

“He is the only stylist I could find to come do this today. You are getting your hair fixed, now,” Cindy’s voice was growing more annoyed by the second with all the questions.

“He cannot do any work on her hair while she is in this hospital bed,” the nurse mentioned as the monitor beeped letting everyone know that it was finished taking Christina’s vitals. “I am sorry but I cannot let you do that.”

“Listen,” Cindy snapped, “her hair has to be fixed now. Okay? It will be fixed now.”

“Mom! I don’t need anything fixed by you! And I want my phone back,” Christina sighed as a pain rushed up her side.

Everyone in the room just stood still for a few minutes because everyone was really uncertain of what they could do next. The tension was growing by the second as Cindy was not getting her way at the moment.

Christina turned to the nurse, “Can you please have her leave the hospital? I don’t want her to be here any longer. And him too.”

The nurse drew in a deep breath and released a scripted speech from her training.

“Ma’am, sir, I am going to have to ask you to leave. I am asking before I have to go call security. So if you could please exit the room now,” she smiled trying to keep the peace a little bit.

James stood there in shock, he had promised to get the room emptied and allow Christina to call Jesy but if he had to leave then what was he going to do?

“Um, Christina?” James called, peeking around the nurse. “Can I just show you what I had planned? This way once you get better you can come by the salon and I can help you or just touch up your roots with that fabulous color.”

The nurse turned to Christina waiting on her command as to what to do.

“Okay,” Christina mumbled. “He can stay and I will talk to him. Don’t worry I will not allow him to do anything to my hair today. But please escort my mother from here. I do not want to see her in here again.”

“I will be back Christina,” Cindy turned to face James and whispered, “you fix that mess today.”

James nodded trying to make it seem like he was a neutral party right now just to be sure that everything was okay and went according to the plan. The plan was simple and right now he was sure that everything was going to go accordingly.

Cindy and the nurse left the room leaving James and Christina alone. The door shut shortly behind them and James walked over to the bedside.

“Okay. So I don’t really know how much time we have. So Jesy and Perrie are sitting outside in the waiting room but they cannot come back because they are not ‘family’ so therefore they cannot until you are allowed visitors. But she thinks that your mom restricted the access to visitors even longer,” James was talking extremely fast and Christina could barely keep up.

“Wait? What?” she asked looking at the frantic hair stylist. “Slow down.”

“Here is my phone,” he handed off his iPhone and it was already calling the number that Jesy had given him.

Christina looked shocked by took the phone anyway and listened to it as it rang.

“Christina!” Jesy’s voice came through the phone, sounding surprised and relieved.
