It All Started With A Brownie

Actually, it starts with two.
Susie gets up one morning and makes a load of brownies. 250, in fact. She and her friends don't know what to do with them so they decide to sell them - outside their apartment. A guy comes along, hood up, blue eyes and soft blonde hair. He keeps his face hidden, but when Susie sees him properly, it's Niall Horan, her celebrity crush. Can Susie keep her secret hidden from her friends, or will the truth come out?

8. Party Time: part 1

First off, I want to say a big thank you for reading my story so far, and keeping with it and not getting tired ;)

I am going to stick to a schedule of updating on Tuesday's/Wednesday's and Saturday's/Sunday's, depending on how busy I am.

I have been thinking about another story that will be being posted in about three weeks time, and lots of other things have kept my mind occupied. So, I'm extremely sorry, but I hope you enjoy this chapter :) It's Liv's POV this time, changing it around a bit...

This chapter is dedicated to my beautiful friend, Leoni, who isn't on Wattpad, but who needs some love as she is having a hard time at the moment :) she always makes me smile and that's why I love her xx

Liv's POV

Since Niall had come to the apartment, I had been on edge all week. It wasn’t that I didn’t like him in particular, it was just- Oh, never mind. I shouldn’t be worrying about that now. It wasn’t like I was ever going to see him again.

I sat on the sofa and looked out across the open plan area of Zara's house. Susie had been ordering around us all afternoon, and we had obliged, willingly. Now she stood at the sink with Annabel, sipping cups of water and looking  absolutely beautiful in her green dress and heels.

"Hey, Liv.” Zara interrupted my thoughts and I smiled back at her.

“What’s up?” She sat down with me, pulling down her short dress at the back.

"I’m relaxing before I have to be on my feet all night, dancing with random people who I’ve never met before.” I rolled my eyes and looked down at my watch. 7:53. Seven minutes to go.

“Yeah. You never know who’s gonna turn up at parties. Celebrities…”

My head snapped up at what Zara had just said. “What?”

She looked shocked and speechless, but I cut in before I had to see any more fish imitations.

“Sorry, Zara, but I don’t think celebrities will turn up.” I tried to lighten the mood by patting her head, but she brushed my hand away from her carefully styled hair. When she realised that I wasn't pressing the matter any further, she looked relieved but also a little guilty and I was about to ask why when the doorbell sounded. We both jumped up and ran to the hallway, along with Susie and Annabel, greeting the horde of young adults standing there.

Susie squealed when she saw her really good friend from Uni, Charlotte, and hugged all the girls whom I had never seen before. They all trooped inside, and I noticed a few fit boys in the crowd who seemed single, mentally noting to go and chat them up later.

Susie showed them through to the lounge/kitchen area and left them to it, but a couple of girls stayed in the hall, uncertain what to do.

I walked over, a little unsteady on my six-inch heels, and smiled widely. My mouth was hurting already from all this smiling, but once the party was properly started, I was sure to relax into it a bit more.

"Hey, guys."

A  tall, slim, brunette girl smiled shyly back and hugged me, even though we had never met before. "Hi, I'm Becca. Pleased to meet you."

She had a nice, soft accent which I warmed to immediately. "Hi, Becca. Are you American?"

The girl beside Becca sniggered and I looked down at her. "What?"

She looked up at me, her red, fiery hair tied up in a messy bun. "First off, I'm Alanna. And secondly, Becca is Canadian. Not American." The girl smirked again and I bit my lip.

"Sorry." Well done, Olivia, great start.

Becca brushed my misjudgement aside, "It's fine, don't get hung up on it. Most people I meet have the same problem. I think there should be classes at school that teach you different accents. Don't you think?"

Alanna stared blankly at her friend. "No." She turned back to me, and scrutinized my face carefully. "You must be Liv, right? Susie told us all about her roomates. Quote: The one with the long, slightly wavy brown hair and big eyes is Liv. She is a happy person most of the time, but can get angry very quickly if you say the wrong thing. She is an independent woman who has a particular grudge against our old Latin teacher. Unquote."

My mouth gaped at Alanna who had managed to remember everything Susie had told her. I frowned as I remembered Mr. Renrag, who often called me 'Miss Thicko' and Zara, 'Idiot.' Mr. Renrag was a mean old git and I relished the sweet memory of walking out of his classroom for the last time in year nine, after being kicked out for answering back a few too many times. I decided to think of other things before I launched into a full blown lecture to the two girls standing in front of me. "How do you know Susie?" I asked.

Alanna smiled, "We go to running club together."

Oh, yes. I'd heard of the famous running club. "That's nice."

"No, it's not." Becca sighed and folded her arms. "It's the most boring thing ever. Alanna and Susie are the only ones in the whole group who actually run. I watch them and laugh."

Alanna turned to Becca with a frown, "That's true actually. Why do you do running club if you don't want to run?"

"Er...Good point."

Becca had such a serious and thoughtful look on her face that I started laughing uncontrollably. And believe me, when I start laughing, I can never stop.

Soon after, the two very likeable girls joined in and when we finally stopped after five minutes, I took them to the kitchen area to grab a drink.

Annabel bounded over whilst I opened up a fresh bottle of coke, as I didn't want to get hammered too early on, and shook my shoulder roughly, "Hi, Liv!"

"Annabel! Are you having a good time?"

She nodded enthusiastically, "Yeah, it's great. Quite a few more people have come, but there's still a few more to get here."

I glanced around and saw that the house had started to fill up rapidly. Zara had dimmed the lights so it was more of a party and there were quite a few vodka bottles lying around the place already. Luckily Zara's parents were not coming back for a few days as we would have a hell of a job to clear up by the end of the night.

Suddenly, the room darkened even more and a disco ball and several strobe lights lit the room. Loud music came on and I bopped along to the beat. I introduced Annabel to Becca and Alanna, who seemed to go all shy with the crazy girl's presence.

"Oh, come on, guys. Annabel's a big softie." I nudged Annabel and she stuck her tounge out at them, causing Becca to giggle. Soon they were chatting together, so I drifted off towards the corner of the room to escape from the very loud music that was causing a headache.

I took out my phone and checked the two text messages sent ten minutes ago. One was from Jane, my Chinese friend who was not able to make it to Susie's party.

From: Jane

Since she left my secondary school in year ten, I hadn't seen very much of Jane, apart from when I went to China for my yearly trip at Logica. I quickly replied back, but put the phone down as my favourite song came on. How ya doin'? Little Mix.

Listening to the first few beats, I sang the words, my headache starting to fade a little. "Hey, how ya doin'? Sorry you can't get through. Why don't you leave your name and your number, and we'll get back to you." I took a deep breath as I launched into the verse. "Ain't got no time for what you think can be described as love-"

"I never knew you were a good singer." Someone interrupted me and I turned to see who the familiar voice belonged to.

"Harry?!" I shrieked, and that's when I noticed everybody else crowding around, the music slowly grinding to a halt.

"Hey, Liv."

Oooh bit of a cliffhanger there! So you finally know who Liv is connected to One Direction by, but you will have to wait until the next chapter to find out why.

Please V/C as it means so much to me :) Give your thoughts on the chapter, because I like to know what I can do to improve!

Also, I just wanted to let you know that Annabel and I went to the place where One Direction were on the telephone box (on the take me home album cover)and it was so cool!!!!! anyway, see you on the next chapter ;) xxx
