It All Started With A Brownie

Actually, it starts with two.
Susie gets up one morning and makes a load of brownies. 250, in fact. She and her friends don't know what to do with them so they decide to sell them - outside their apartment. A guy comes along, hood up, blue eyes and soft blonde hair. He keeps his face hidden, but when Susie sees him properly, it's Niall Horan, her celebrity crush. Can Susie keep her secret hidden from her friends, or will the truth come out?

11. Ice Skating

Hope you like the chapter, here it is:

Susie's POV

My first thought as I slid onto the ice was: Help. Not only were my hire skates as blunt as they could possibly be, but the ice had just been freshly layered to smooth over the cracks. And both of those things only meant one thing. It was going to be very, very slippery.

Luckily, the girls and I were the only ones on the ice at the moment, as the boys had booked the whole rink for themselves so that there would be no paparazzi. However, as usual, the lads were late, and I was starting to think they did it just to keep you expectant. But I was glad this time, able to get in a bit of practise before they all came.

I glanced over at Liv, who had been ice skating ever since she was nine, and was pretty amazed to find that she had completed several laps already. Staring at her feet, I tried to copy the moves that she did, gliding from one foot to the other, like on rollerblades. Unfortunately, it's easier said than done, and I found myself on my backside a few steps later.

Rolling my eyes and wincing at the scrapes on my legs (yes, I know, I shouldn't have worn cropped leggings to an ice rink), I noticed that Zara and Annabel had the right tactic: pulling themselves along the wall and not having to pick up their feet. Right. Let's try that instead. The ice was cold under my hands as I tried to get up and  I might as well just stay down here for the rest of the session.

"Susie, get off your bum, the water will leave a patch and it will look like you've wet yourself." Liv flew over and stopped just in time, before leaning back on the points of her non-hire skates and rocking back and forth.

"I can't!" Wailing and flapping my arms about in the air seemed to do the trick, as Liv got down on her knees and helped to pull me up.

"Thanks." Breathing a sigh of relief, I clung onto the wall to steady myself.

"Don't mention it. Look, I'll show you how to skate properly, if you like?" She glanced towards the door. "Before Niall gets here."

My heart sped us as she said his name and I concentrated hard for the next ten minutes, eventually managing to skate on my own for about thirty seconds before collapsing in a heap.

"Hello there, girls!" An Irish voice boomed from the doorway and I jumped to my feet, my face lighting up at the sight of Niall.

"Niall!" I tried to show off my skills by power-gliding over to him.

But... I think it kinda backfired.

Because I ended up falling flat on my face.

"Susie, are you okay?"

I opened my eyes and looked up groggily at the blonde in front of me, wondering where the hell I was.

"Huh? What's going on?" There was an uncomfortable bed underneath my back, and the room seemed pale and neglected, with peeling walls and cracks in the ceiling.

A masculine form took my hand. "Susie, it's me, Niall. You just had a bit of an accident on the ice, and you passed out for a bit, but you're okay now. You're in the ice rink's medical room."

I closed my eyes and groaned. Trust me to get into a situation like this. "Oh, god. Sorry, Niall."

"Hey, hey." He pushed me back down as I tried to get up and handed me a glass of water. "Drink this. You'll feel better."

I put the cup to my lips and swallowed. My throbbing head started to clear and I sat up, noticing everybody in the room with me. There were a few girls that I didn't recognise and I frowned as Liam came over.

"Glad to see you're feeling better Susie. I'd like to introduce you to our girlfriends."

A slim girl walked over and grinned at me. She had soft, white hair with tints of purple in it, and wore a baggy t-shirt and tight jeans. "Hi Susie. I'm Perrie, Zayn's girlfriend. I've heard loads about you."

"That doesn't sound too good, but pleased to meet you anyway, Perrie."

The girl from Little Mix laughed and I cracked a grin, noticing Zara's pained look when Zayn pulled his girlfriend back and kissed her temple. I immediately felt guilty at taking a liking to Perrie, but I guessed Zara would get over her crush soon enough. She wasn't one to hold grudges.

Two other brunettes bounced over and I recognised one of them. "Danielle Peazer!"

The dancer looked surprised, "You know me?"

"Sure I do! You and Liam are all over the magazines at the moment with Loki. You're a really great dancer, by the way."

Danielle blushed, "Thanks, that's really sweet of you."

I smiled and turned to the last girl.

"Hi, I'm Eleanor, Louis' girlfriend." She shouted proudly. "But you can call me El."

"Hey, El." Eleanor gave me a hug and fluffled < A/N I love this word!! > my hair, and I could definitely see why Louis was dating her. They were perfect for each other, and the way he looked at her, well, it was obvious that he more than liked her.

I turned back to Niall, who hugged me too. "It's good you're feeling better. Now we can go ice skating!"

Out of the corner of my eye, I found Louis beckoning everyone out of the room, closing the door behind them and leaving me alone with Niall. How awkward could they get? I mean, really?

"Niall, let me warn you now, I'm going to be clinging onto you every step of the way."

The blonde smirked, "Fine by me." He looked so pleased with himself that I just had to laugh.

"What!" He cried out, "Why does everyone laugh at things that I don't get?"

I patted him gently on the shoulder, "Don't worry 'bout it, Niall. Everybody loves you."

Niall winked and brushed some imaginary dust off his shoulder, "Come on, let's get out there. I'm all pumped for this." Flexing his muscles and steadying me when I got off the bed, he pushed open the door. Immediately all the people behind sprang up and looked incredibly guilty.

"Guys, seriously?!" Niall exclaimed.

Instead of apologising, the group tittered and Niall, taking my hand, pecked the top of my head and led me down to the rink, blushing ever so slightly at the whistles coming our way.

After what happened earlier, I thought we did quite well to get halfway around the ice before collapsing on the floor. Our backs were leant up against the wall and it was quite comfy, so I made no move to get up. Glancing at Niall, I found him staring intently at me.

Niall hesitated before replying, "Nothing. It's just-"

"Just what?"

"You're very cute."

I raised one eyebrow at his comment. "Uh...I'm trying to decide if that's a compliment or not."

"It's a compliment, definitely."

"Okay." Turning to grin back at Niall, I managed to wrongly calculate the distance his face was from mine, so we bumped noses and I giggled.

"Oi!" Louis shouted from the sidelines, "No PDA in public places! There are children present." He paused for a second, realising that we were all over the age of eighteen, before pronouncing Eleanor as his daughter and gaining a few horrified looks from everyone else.

Niall rolled his eyes, and got up from our entangled position on the floor, putting out a hand. "May I have this dance?"

My heart fluttered as he pulled me up and held me close. Niall gestured for me to stand on his skates, and we twirled around to the slow music, well Niall did, whilst I rested my head against his racing heart beat.

"I didn't realise you were that good at skating, Niall?"

He returned my comment with a smug grin, "I used to do it when I was younger."

"Like Liv."

Our heads turned to look at the girl, who at that moment, was trying to keep her distance from Harry. We watched as she jumped in the air, the first time landing perfectly and the second time tripping over.

"Ah, poor Liv." Niall suggested going to help her, when I stopped him and pointed at the commotion. Harry, being the gentlemen that he was, had gone to help Liv up, but instead, she looked at the guy in disgust, pushed herself off the floor with no help and raced over to the sidelines before he could say another word. Harry was left looking perplexed, but also a little amused, as he went to join Annabel and Zara, who were trying, and failing, to come up with yet another dance routine.

At the end of our session, we all piled into the cramped café, warming ourselves up with hot chocolate and coffee. Liam and Danielle decided that they needed to get back to attend to Loki, and all of us thought that it was time to go as well. I had had a great time, and when I saw our cars waiting outside, I was sad to leave them all.

Zara pulled me over to the car and as I was about to get in, my ears pricked up at the sound of an Irish voice calling my name.

"Susie!" Niall called and I hopped out of the car yet again, much to the girls' annoyance.

"Yes, Niall." I ran over to the lost looking boy and grinned at his nervous expression.

"Um- I was, er- just wondering if you would- erm, like to meet up again this week." He finally got all his words out and I smiled.

"Sure. I'll ask the others when they're free."

"What? No!" Niall's sudden outburst made me jump.

"Umm...I thought you wanted to go out?"

He coughed and tried not to look me in the eye. "Yeah, but I didn't mean with everyone else."

My heartbeat started to increase and I tried to play it cool. "Oh! You mean like on a date, alone."

"Yeeeaahhhhhh....." He dragged the word out, searching my face, which I tried to keep expressionless. "If you don't want to, it's fine, I really shouldn't have asked you so early on-"

I put a finger to his lips to silence him and smiled softly. "I'd love to."

Niall's eyes became wide and he smiled softly, "Thank you, Susie."

Nawww they're finally going on a date ;) Just to let you know, I might not be able to update until Thursday/Friday this week as I have loads of exams, so please just bear with until I get everything sorted! Thanks :) xxxxx
