It All Started With A Brownie

Actually, it starts with two.
Susie gets up one morning and makes a load of brownies. 250, in fact. She and her friends don't know what to do with them so they decide to sell them - outside their apartment. A guy comes along, hood up, blue eyes and soft blonde hair. He keeps his face hidden, but when Susie sees him properly, it's Niall Horan, her celebrity crush. Can Susie keep her secret hidden from her friends, or will the truth come out?

4. Escape From The Apartment

Chapter 3- Escape from the apartment

"Er...Um..." I stuttered as Liv and Zara looked at me in surprise. Well yeah, they had just found out that Niall Horan was in our apartment.

I pushed past Annabel into my room and found Niall sitting on the floor and rocking himself, back and forth, back and forth. When he saw me, his eyes glistened with anger and he stood up, shaking his head.

"I can't believe you, Susie. I trusted you. I thought you were- were- different! Why did you tell them?" He shouted at me.

I threw my hands in the air in disgust. "Well, thanks for hearing my side of the story first. I didn't realise Annabel was going to come in here and find you. I thought she was going to her room to find me a dress for tonight, but no- she came in here. It wasn't my fault in any way so do not, I tell you, do not place the blame on moi." And with that I stormed out of the room.

Actually, I didn't because Liv, Annabel and Zara were standing in the way, their mouths wide open. They'd heard everything.

Liv was the first one to speak. "What is going on here?" She asked quietly and I looked at the ground, willing it to open up and take me to another world.

It didn't.

Niall decided to talk to Liv instead, "Well, basically, I was walking along the road, getting a bit of fresh air. Then I saw Susie's brownies and I was so hungry so I bought two of them and we ended up chatting. Unfortunately, my hood fell off and-"

"I recognised him."

Liv snapped her head to face me so I carried on talking. "Then Niall said I had to hide him somewhere, because-"

Niall interrupted, "The fans were on the other side of the road and I would be killed if management found out, so Susie-"

"Very kindly, decided to hide Niall to protect him from the media and that is how he ended up-"

"In the cupboard." Niall finished and the girls looked slightly satisfied. Slightly.

Niall grinned at them, "Do you guys promise not to tell?"

The girls nodded and Niall ran over to hug them, assuming they were huge fans, but Liv turned on her heel and stalked out of the room.

Annabel and Zara returned the hug from Niall, a little stiffly perhaps and then ran off to the kitchen, not having uttered a word in the time they had been in Niall's presence. That must have been the longest time they have gone without saying anything. I'm impressed.

I turned back to Niall who was scratching his head in thought.

"What's up?" I sat down on the bed and he raised his eyebrows at me.

"What's up with me? What's up with your friend, more like. She's a fan of One Direction, but when I try to give her a hug, she storms off?" Niall was really confused and it was all because of my stupid lie.

"OK, Niall. I haven't technically been truthful with you. The others don't actually like 1D, I just said that so I didn't hurt your feelings. Sorry." I held my breath, waiting for his reply.

"Hey, it's ok. I was just a little confused, that's all."

Niall was being so sweet and caring, I wanted to kiss him right there and then. But, I couldn't. He didn't see me as a possible girlfriend. I was just another fan to him. Just another fan with a poster on her wall. Sigh.

I looked up at Niall again, who was staring at me, and beckoned him to sit down on the bed.

He cocked his head and I smiled foolishly like a little girl. Niall was adorable. But he wasn't mine to keep, and I had to let him go.

"Niall, the fans have all gone now. You're free to go. We'll get you out safely." I said and he looked out the window.

"There are still some people there, I guess. But thanks for letting me stay for a while. Even if most of it was spent in your cupboard." I giggled.

"But it smelt nice in there so that's okay." He said.

I giggled again and pushed him up off the bed. "C'mon, let's get you outta here."

He smiled sadly and pointed to the en-suite. "Can I just use the bathroom first, though?"

"Sure, sure."

I busied myself whilst Niall used the shower room. After I'd tidied away college work, stationary and the odd item of clothing on the floor, I lay on my bed and gazed up at the picture of Niall, smiling every now and again. It was a beautiful picture, but they hadn't got some of it right.

For example, his teeth were a little more crooked than that of the picture and his nose a little flatter. But even so, I still loved it- him, and I was sad to let him go, but it was the best thing to do.

I looked down from the poster and my eyes landed on the real Niall, grinning at me. Oh God. How long had he been there for? Long enough to see me grinning stupidly at his picture, seeing as he had a huge smirk on his face right now.

Hopping off the bed and pretending that none of this had just happened, I took his hand and pulled him through to the kitchen. Liv, Annabel and Zara sat there whispering and when we walked in, they abruptly stopped their conversation and Liv walked out the room again.

"Hey, guys." I started meekly, "I was just wondering if you wanted to help me get Niall out of the block without him being seen?"

They nodded and glanced at Niall, who was eyeing up the biscuit tin. I gave him several to last the journey home, then the girls and I gathered up several coats, hats, scarves and sunglasses for good measure. By the time we got all of this stuff, Niall had eaten all of the biscuits.

Hopeless. Absolutely hopeless.

We shuffled Niall out the door and pushed him down the stairs in his clothes. Luckily the stuff we had given him were pretty old that we wouldn't be using ever again, so we told him to keep it all, to which he replied, "I'll give it to Oxfam or something when I get back."

I'd misjudged the amount of fans still there, but luckily they were looking for a blonde, skinny bloke with bright blue eyes, and I think it is fair to say that, having covered Niall up so well, he wouldn't be recognised.

We waved him off and I nearly turned on the waterworks. I couldn't believe I was just letting him walk out of my life like that, but I didn't mind. Obviously.

We turned to go back inside and I raced up to my bedroom, not bothering to see what was going on with Liv first. I was way too tearful and the girls would only mock and tease me anyway.

Once inside my bedroom, I made my way to my bathroom and locked the door. Splashing cool water on to my face made me feel a bit better, but I was still hurting.

But then I saw the note.

Hey Susie! 07766425154. Call me. Niall x

I wasn't hurting any more.

In fact, quite the opposite ;)
