It All Started With A Brownie

Actually, it starts with two.
Susie gets up one morning and makes a load of brownies. 250, in fact. She and her friends don't know what to do with them so they decide to sell them - outside their apartment. A guy comes along, hood up, blue eyes and soft blonde hair. He keeps his face hidden, but when Susie sees him properly, it's Niall Horan, her celebrity crush. Can Susie keep her secret hidden from her friends, or will the truth come out?

30. Engagement

Sorry I didn't update, I have been so busy what with going back to school, prep and jobs :/

Enjoy the chapter!!

Liv's POV

After Susie left to be with Niall, I panicked. None of us knew how to cook...

And Perrie and Zayn were supposed to be coming for LUNCH.

Yes, I know, I was relying on Susie to make a meal for us today, and to be honest I was a little annoyed when she forgot about everything to go and see her boyfriend, who she's been seeing every day since the incident. Couldn't she just spend one second without him?

I mean, I know they love each other and all that, but seriously? The girls and I spend our days and evenings alone now, without Susie, and that makes me sad, like she's slipping away from our grip.

And there's not much I can do about it...

Anyway, the first priority should be getting some lunch ready. Grabbing Zara and Annabel, I was sure we'd have enough experience between us to come up with something.

We all went out to the nearest Tesco express and went round buying lots of vegetables and two whole chickens.

A roast shouldn't be two hard to cook, would it?

Two hours later and almost everything was ready.

I opened the door of the oven and pulled out the chickens, placing them on a warm plate and on the center of the table.

Zara put all of the vegetables out as well and Annabel organised all our expensive cutlery, wine glasses and nibbles.

When the doorbell finally rang, it was quite a relief to just spread a smile over my face and be able to relax in my friends' company.

"Perrie! Zayn!" I squealed as they rushed through the door and into our arms.

I hadn't seen much of the couple lately, which was quite sad, but I don't think any of us have. Zayn is the sort of person to keep to himself, never the one to be in the public eye.

And I liked that about him.

"Liv, how are you? I haven't seen you in ages!" Perrie hugged me tight and kissed my cheeks on either side.

"I'm doing great thanks, been doing a lot of work though which isn't always a good thing..." I smiled at her sympathetic expression and pulled everyone over to the sofa, Zara chatting excitedly to Zayn about something or other.

As my brother told me at Liam's party, they do actually look alike...

"So, guys, we have some news to tell you...and we wanted to wait until everyone was together, but there wasn't a good time..." Perrie paused and looked at Zayn, who smiled encouragingly.

Annabel, Zara and I exchanged worried glances. Were they breaking up? But, they were so cute together!

Suddenly, before Zayn could speak, the doorbell rung again and I frowned. There wasn't anybody scheduled to come, so who could it be?

Annabel jumped up. " I'll get it."

It was probably Susie and Niall, back from their day out.

So when Harry walked in, my mouth dropped open in surprise. What the hell was he doing here?

"What the hell is he doing here?" I hissed and glared at the boy waving awkwardly in front of us.

He smiled at me, even though I'd not been particularly nice to him. "I felt lonely in my flat because Louis is out with Eleanor and I thought I'd come see you guys." I rolled my eyes and he smirked again.

God, why was he so annoying?!

"Well, you're just in time to hear Zayn and Perrie's big news!" Annabel chirped happily.

Sigh. He's gonna be staying, isn't he?

"Cool, I wanna hear this big news!" Harry sat down on the sofa next to Zara and my focus turned back to the couple opposite me.

I smiled again. "So, go ahead guys. What were you going to tell us?"

Before we were so rudely interrupted...

"Well, the thing is, me and Zayn, we think it's time. Basically..." Perrie coughed and started again. "Um, we're getting married."

I screamed along with Annabel and Harry's eyebrows shot up in surprise. I rushed over to Zayn and Perrie and launched myself onto them, giving them a death hug.

They were getting married! I couldn't believe it!

Turning around, I noticed how Zara's face had fallen for a few seconds, then snapped back to happy again. She joined in the hug and we congratulated the newly engaged couple and admired Perrie's ring. It was gorgeous.

But inside, I felt hopeless for my friend. I think, somewhere in the back of my mind, and hers, we thought she'd have a chance with Zayn somehow. They got along really well.

But I guess that had completely gone out of the window... Now that Perrie and Zayn were getting MARRIED. An overwhelming feeling of excitement swept over me and I squealed again.

"Um, I'd also love it if you girls and Susie would be part of my bridesmaid crew?"

WHAT?! Omg. I'd never been to a proper wedding in my life, let alone be a bridesmaid for one! I hugged Perrie again and we all agreed that we'd love to.

"So, have you set a date yet?" I asked and Zayn shook his head.

"We don't really know, but when we do, we'll let you know. We're trying to keep it a small wedding, not many celebrities and mainly just close friends and family."

We all nodded and Harry did a man hug with Zayn, slapping him on the back and looking quite emotional.

Zayn's stomach started to rumble so we all decided it was time to eat lunch.

I made sure to sit as far from Harry as possible. However, he kept sending me winks and genuine smiles my way.

Why was he doing this?

While we waited for the apple crumble (bought from Waitrose) to warm up in the oven, I listened absent-mindedly to Zara, Annabel, Zayn and Perrie's conversation about Little Mix, whilst trying to ignore Harry waving and doing weird actions to get my attention.

Eventually, I just got so annoyed and totally out of the conversation that I excused myself from the table and went to sit in the study, needing some time alone.

After sitting down in the office chair and leaning against the cool of the oak table, I heard a creak of floorboards and snapped my head up.

I sighed and didn't bother saying anything, just closed my eyes and ignored his presence.

"What are you doing?" He asked quietly.

Oh please, just shut up and leave me alone!

"Converting oxygen into carbon dioxode."

I looked up to see Harry's expression, which was pretty confused but amazed. "Wow. How do you do that?"

I sighed. "By breathing, you idiot." Jeez, how stupid could he get?

"Oh, I see."

Feeling a little bad, I turned to the curly haired boy, and he smiled. Again.

After all this time. After all we'd been through, after all the awful things I'd said. He smiled.

A little bit of respect for Harry started to shine through and I quickly pushed it away. I had no respect for him.

"I think we should go back to the others." I told Harry and he nodded.

"Good idea. Nice lunch by the way, I really enjoyed it."

I nodded in thanks and walked out to the kitchen, helping Harry get the dessert out of the oven.

Everyone said it smelled delicious and we all had big servings, apart from Perrie, who claimed she needed to be in fit shape for her wedding dress.

After lunch, we all sat down again and played childish games, including snog, marry avoid, truth or dare and would you rather.

I got to know a bit more about Zayn than I had before, including what some of his tattoos meant, and how he bought his mum and sisters a house to repay them just a fraction for all the things they had done for him in his lifetime. Before One Direction, he didn't even own a passport, and now he's travelling all over the world. He especially loves LA.

Perrie enjoys being in Little Mix and travelling all over the world. She loved to sing, especially in the shower, and she often sung to Zayn whenever he felt down or tired.

"You can sing, can't you Liv?" Zayn's question startled me and I shook my head.

"No way. I'm rubbish."

Annabel laughed. "No you're not, come on, sing to us."

After a lot of persuasion from my friends, I decided to sing.

And in my head, I dedicated the song to Harry.

"You know I can't take one more step towards you,

Cause all that's waiting is regret.

And don't you know I'm not your ghost any more.

You lost the love I loved the most."

I looked right at Harry when I sang, and he stared right back at me.

"I've learned to live half alive,

And now you want me one more time.

And who do you think you are?

Running round, leaving scars.

Collecting your jar of hearts,

And tearing love apart.

You're gonna catch a cold,

From the ice inside your soul,

So don't come back to me,

Who do you think you are?"

I stopped, feeling embarassed, and all my friends clapped and grinned, apart from Harry, who looked slightly sad.

I felt bad.

(I'm sorry, Harry)

Btw, Liv can't actually sing, I just needed it for the story, if you're wondering... :)

I love writing about Liv and Harry and their little spats, it's quite amusing.

Go see the 1D film if you haven't already, as I said before, it's amazing!!

Liv xx
