Circle of Life

This play was written in 2009. An improvised version of this play was staged on the 22nd of December, 2009 at the school where I was teaching, then.

P.S: This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places and incidents are the results of my imagination or have been used fictitiously. Any resemblance to actual events/ locales/ persons- living or dead, is entirely coincidental.

Four years have passed. Huge mansion of the Patels, a child is crying, he doesn’t want to go to school. His mother and servants are fussing over him

Narrator (sarcastically): Our little Prince-Abhimanyu Patel is now four years old. He doesn’t want to go to school. His mother is coaxing the prince to change his mind. Servants are busy readying his school bag and making preparations for the little God's grand breakfast.

Abhimanyu (wailing): I don’t want to go to school.

Rekha(coaxing): Baby all good children go to school. You will make many friends there. You’ll have fun, I assure you.

Abhimanyu (crying): Boooooowoooooooo! No I won’t go! Boooooowoooooooo! I won’t go!!

Rekha (affectionately): If my little price will go to school today, then I will take him to the swings in the evening, I’ll also give him three chocolates and a surprise gift.

Abhimanyu (convinced-wipes tears): Ok I’ll go.
